After she'd gotten the message from Ellery that Cian had fallen yet again, though this time it was off a plow. This time she brought a wheelchair with her, and everything else she'd need as she rushed over. Inside she was panicking a bit and telling herself that she should have done something to make sure that this wouldn't happen again. But she didn't know what she had missed the last time. This time she wouldn't miss a thing.

Taking the port key to their house, she headed out to the field where she spotted the plow sitting and rushed over with the chair. Once she actually saw Ellery, she slowed down a bit until she got there. "Hey.. is he still breathing?"

"Okay, you can stay with me." She gave him a reassuring smile and then wheeled his dad into one of the rooms. Then she ordered a whole lot of tests, blood work and a CT scan and x-rays and all sorts of other things. Now that she had him some place safe she could really give him a look over, and try to get him to wake up.

She did most of the tests herself because she didn't want Ellery to worry about some weird person doing them all or something. Then she turned to him. "Okay we're going to go down to the really big x-ray machine okay? Come on.." Since Cian was now in a bed, she could wheel him down to the CT machine.

	Getting Cian all hooked up to the machines, she went into the other room with Ellery so that she could start up the machine and take the pictures. However his question made her startle quite a bit. 	"You like my dad, right? And I know he likes you." Ellery shrugged. It made sense to him. And if she was going to marry his dad, he didn't want to get her flowers. He didn't want to compete with his dad like that. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	He liked her? That was news. "Uh.. well, I think your dad just might like me in a friendly.. neighbor kind of way. I mean your dad's really nice and all." And gorgeous, but she didn't say that. 	"I know. But I mean. You know. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad, if you were my mom." She kind of looked a little bit like the pictures of his mom, that his dad kept in his desk. Ellery was too young to really remember his mom, but he knew his dad really loved her. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

This was such a weird conversation to have with a kid. A kid who was asking her to be his mom pretty much. "Ah well, I like you a lot so.. either way, even if me and your dad don't get married? We'll still be friends." She smiled and then reached up to ruffle his hair. Finally the tests were done so she went to get Cian out of the machine. "Okay, now we take him to another machine."

Getting Cian out of the CT machine, she wheeled him through the door, thanking Ellery as they went. "Yeah I'm going to give him some stuff that should make him wake up. It's really bad smelling stuff though so you might want to stand back." After they got into the other room, she grabbed the smelling salts and then went to wave them under his nose to see if that would work.

	Ellery stayed on the far side of the room, but close enough that he could watch what she was doing. He could smell the stuff, even where he was, and it made his nose wrinkle, but his dad didn't respond to it, at least not right away. After a moment, Ellery saw his hand twitch, and he rushed over to Dr Hadley. "He moved! I saw his hand move!" (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Glancing down at Ellery and then at Cian's hand, she tried again with the smelling salts and then reached over to shake him a bit. "Cian.. can you hear me? I need you to open your eyes." She glanced back over at Ellery. "Hold his hand and talk to him okay?" God she hoped those scans were going to be ready very very soon. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"Okay." Ellery nodded. He moved closer to the bed, and took his dad's hand. holding it in both of his. "Hey, Dad. Dad. I'm here. It's Ellery. And Dr Hadley's here, too. She said I should talk to you, and maybe you'll wake up. Will you wake up, Dad? Come on. We're really worried about you, and we want you to wake up." Ellery looked at Cian for a moment, then back to Dr Hadley. "Why isn't he waking up?"

While Ellery was talking to his father, she went around to check his ear for a moment though she was going to have to have him awake to really figure out what was going on. The first thing was to get him to wake up though. Once she got the CT scans, and the ECT ones, she didn't see any kind of swelling or bleeding, so that was good. "Well it's not really serious, He just hit his head really hard and he's got a concussion. It takes a while to wake up but he will. We just have to keep him still, okay?"

	"Yeah of course you can. And I'll stay with both of you, don't worry." There was something on the scan that she wasn't quite sure of, but she needed to know some things. "Hey.. has your dad had trouble hearing things recently? Or has he had really bad headaches? Or complained about like.. hearing a weird noise in his ears? Like a ringing sound?" "No. I don't..." Ellery frowned, thinking. He could lie and say his dad had been fine, but then maybe Dr Hadley wouldn't be able to tell what was wrong with him. "Yeah, he has. The other night, at dinner, he kept putting his finger in his ear, shaking it. He said he felt like there was something in there. And it itched real bad. He didn't say anything about ringing, though." Ellery looked down at Cian. "Sometimes, I'd say something to him and he didn't answer, like he didn't hear me. Is that bad?"

She sighed a little bit, if only because men were so stubborn and never wanted to come and see a doctor when something was obviously wrong. Of course she didn't go and see anyone when she was sick either. Itchy and not being able to hear, well that narrowed it down. "Maybe a little. Not really bad, it just sounds like there is something wrong with his ear. And when that happens.. for some weird reason, how you stand upright and keep your balance is controlled by this little part in your ear. If there's something wrong, then he'd fall down and hit his head."

"Yeah I should be able to.. if there's some kind of infection or something wrong with his ear those are usually pretty easy to fix." She didn't want to worry him. Maybe it wasn't easy by non-doctor's standards but generally they were pretty easy for anyone in the hospital. Seeing him stir, she went over to the bed again and took his other hand. "Cian? It's Dr. Hadley.. if you can hear me, I need you to squeeze my hand. Or squeeze Ellery's hand okay?"

	Cian's eyes opened, though only for a moment. Waking up like that wasn't quick, like on TV. He struggled, under the blanket of unconsciousness for several minutes. Ellery held on to his hand, afraid to let go, afraid he'd lose his dad somehow if he did let go. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Well that was something. Maybe she should try the smelling salts again. Or maybe you should kiss him, doesn't that work in stories her brain abruptly told her to which she told her brain to promptly shut the hell up. Then she pinched him a little, to see if that would help, before trying the smelling salts again. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

The salts were most effective, getting into his nose and making him use his free hand to bat the cause of the offending smell away. The motion was overly exaggerated, but he got the point across.

His eyes opened, though his lids were heavy still. He turned his head, and smiled at Ellery, then looked back at Dr Hadley. "Guess I'm not dead yet." The words were slurred, but distinguishable.

	Remy looked quite relieved that his eyes were open, and she smiled back. "No you're not dead yet but you did have another really nasty fall and you've got a concussion. So I don't want you to move okay? I'll give you a moment but then I need to make sure you're all right. And this time there won't be any protesting with me." She gave him a stubborn look. "That I'm not really sure about but we're about to do some tests that will hopefully help me figure that out. But you do have a concussion, so sitting still is key. When you're up to it, I'll give you something for the pain. And if you need to throw up.." she pointed to the pan beside the bed.

She came over to one side and pulled out her pen light thing and held up her finger in front of his face. "I need you to follow my finger with just your eyes okay? So.. have you been feeling dizzy a lot lately?"
