Rick hunched his shoulders a little as he walked. It was mostly force of habit, having been so much taller in the 30s then what most men were. He noticed he was closer to average now in the 21st century, but he still hunched as if he weren't. He sometimes forced himself to straighten, but since his arrival, he chalked it up to grief mostly and wanting to go home.

He started feeling... lighter... somehow after he had talked to Remy. He didn't know why or how, but it was a change from how he had been. He paused outside of the coffee shop, trying not to think on it too much. He leaned against the doorframe outside to wait for her arrival.

Rick laughed as she made the comment about Jersey. He had to agree. He fell into step beside her as they made their way to a table outside on the harbor. He lifted his shoulder.

"Apparently I took over for some rich archealogist and Egyptoligist. Which amuses me because my late wife fancied herself as both. I was an adventurer so we spent as much time in Egypt as we did in England."

"Wow, archaeology and Egyptology, that's something. Oh really? That sounds nice.. it sounds really fun actually. Adventurer. Yeah you totally don't see many of those these days," she said with a smile.

Once she ordered her coffee, she headed outside to the table with him. "At least you.. could still have fun, maybe though I'm not sure how safe it is over there now in 2009."

	Rick couldn't help but grin more. It did sound pretty outrageous, but he could guess it was similar. He lifted a shoulder some. He didn't believe in it till he saw it either. "Kinda," he said. 	When it came down to it, all she could think of was mummy's that were in like museums, and then the ones that were in horror movies. "I can definitely imagine that would be more scary." "Thanks, Remy... I have... I have days where I don't think about it. Those are becoming more frequent it seems," Rick said. "And I keep reading about things here and there and there's no mention of Imhotep coming to life in history books though I suspect that's not exactly something you'd advertise."

He took a sip of coffee and tried to turn the conversation away from him. He looked at her, noting how lovely she was. Like he didn't already know but sometimes it hit you out of nowhere.

"Tell me about yourself."

"Well that's.. good, I guess in a way." That he wasn't thinking about it too much because she knew all too well what it was like to dwell on bad bad stuff. "No I guess it's not. I have a feeling they'd cover that one up. It would probably freak a lot of people out."

She hm'd a bit. "Me? Uh.. well I'm a doctor. Like I said I used to work in New Jersey. Technically I'm a internist.. internal medicine but I've been working for a diagnostic department for a while now.. I'm not sure how much there is to tell." It wasn't like she wanted to be like hey, don't get too attached, I'm probably dying.

His eyebrow arched only a little. "No family here?" he asked. "I mean I know mine are technically back in the 1930s. I didn't arrive here with any family. But what about you?"

There was something that bugged him about the idea that she was alone. He drank more of his coffee.

"No significant other?" Well Rick that was a dumb ass question, he thought to himself. Would she really have taken you up on the offer of coffee if she were seeing someone?

"Okay, sorry, that was a dumb question," he admitted to her. "Been awhile since I had coffee with a beautiful woman that wasn't Evy and I get the impression a lot of things are different in this time period then the one I am from."

Remy shook her head a bit, "No.. no family here or .. back at home either. Well my mom died.. a couple of years ago. And my dad he.. well he doesn't speak to me, it's a long story." She smiled at him and tried not to blush so much. She should be used to this sort of thing. "Um nope, no significant other. It's okay, it's not a dumb question."

Calling her beautiful did make her blush. "I.. think so, but asking a woman if she's taken is still pretty common I think. You can never tell with some people." Unless they were wearing a ring, which she obviously wasn't.

Rick nodded, watching her. He found her blush endearing and for some reason, thoughts of really mourning were pushed from his brain. He just suddenly had an urge to be with her, regardless of the reasons.

"Okay... this is going to sound really bold and I fully understand if you tell me to go straight to hell, but I have this... urge to want to..." He let out a breath. "To kiss you. To do more as well, but a kiss is a damned good start."

The moment he said he wanted to kiss her, she licked her lips unconsciously and glanced up at him. Was she the kind of girl that went to bed randomly with strangers? Um, yeah. She definitely and totally was that kind of girl. So there would be normal quandary there. The fact was though, that he just lost his wife, or something.

Though really she didn't care much about that either. It was just sudden. Sudden and it wasn't at the same time. "Uh.. well.." the fact that she hadn't slapped him right away was good right? She glanced around. "maybe we should leave the coffee place before we start giving everyone a show."

	He nodded, agreeing. At the rate he was feeling, he'd take her right there on the table. Which was unlike him yet he didn't seem to care. He got out some money and tossed the bills on the table for their coffees before getting to his feet, offering her a hand up. "Let's go... my place isn't far from here," he said. 	It wasn't a new feeling for her, though it was a new feeling to have a guy want to get up on her at a coffee shop. A club maybe or a bar, but coffee shops were new. Not that she was complaining in the slightest. She took his hand and got to her feet before smiling at him. "Yeah, let's go.." she kept her hand inside his and let him drag her off wherever. It wasn't far to his place, maybe a block or two. He led her into a rather swank apartment building and straight up to the top floor. Whoever he had taken the place of was extremely wealthy and didn't like to skimp on the things he had. Rick didn't mind, made things easier for him.

He turned after he and Remy entered the penthouse, his eyes looking over her before he reached up and brushed a finger along her cheek.

"You are so beautiful.."

Letting him lead up to the apartment, she looked impressed really by how nice it was. "Wow, this is a nice place." Not that her place was bad, but it wasn't like this. But eventually she turned her attention towards him, because she was there for him, and not for the apartment.

She smiled at him, blushing faintly at his words. "Well.. thank you.." her eyes flickered up towards his. "Do you want to kiss me now?"

	Remy had to admit that she liked it when he grinned like that. It was cute. Leaning in, she pressed her lips to his and kissed him carefully.
