What: Valentine's Day Visiting
When: Thursday, Feb 14. Duh.
Warnings: Cuteness, I'm sure.

The girls were thrilled to be on their way to visit their valentine; Drew wasn't icky like other boys, he was nice to them and polite, and Papi seemed to like him. Besides, they like new friends, and Drew had ponies!

Hopping right up after the portkey, they shot out to the end of the alley, in search of Drew and his family. Greg lumbered to his feet behind them, knowing it wouldn't do any good to try and get them to stop, instead following them off down the road.

Alma and Drew were waiting just outside of the fence of the property. Alma was sitting on a hay bale, talking softly to her son, who was perched in her lap, barely paying attention, scanning around for sign of his valentines, sisters, and new best friends. He wormed away from her mouth when she kissed his head, batting her away, muttering various long 'Maaaaaa's to get her to stop, and she would laugh and keep doing it to tick him off.

Finally Drew saw the twins and what looked like probably their Papi, 'cause he was walkin' funny. He was off hius mother's lap in a flash, and took off past the gate to meet up with them, both hands full of daisies and buttercips he'd been given permission to pick for them to give them when they got there. "'fia! Reina!" He stopped when he approached them extending a hand to each of them with the flowers in them. "These're for you!"

"Drew!" The girls shot off ahead, once again leaving Greg ambling on behind them, giving a polite nod as he saw Drew and his mother get close.

The girls each took their flowers with a giggle, leaning in to place identical pecks to Drew's cheek, like Daddy did when Papi brought him things. "They're pretty, Drew, thank you!"

Greg had a wry smile on his face, addressing Alma once she was close enough. "Hey. Thanks for this."

	Alma smiled at House as Drew blushed and looked down at his feet a moment. "'s no problem, Doctor. He needs to have more friends his own age." "So do they. Almost everyone they talk to is at least old enough to be a parent." Greg nodded, watching the girls sign between each other. "Reina's deaf. I don't know if Drew mentioned that. Fi'll probably speak for her, unless you know signs. She's good about telling the truth, though- it shouldn't be a problem."

Finishing off their quick little conversation, the girls looked around, obviously interested in the wide open space; they'd lived in cities most their lives, only seeing Central Park, or the occasional beach. The idea of a ranch was almost as exciting to them, as the prospect of seeing the ponies. "We wantsa see your ranch! We's never been in a big outside like this 'fore!"

Alma watched Reina with a slight frown, and she shook her head. "Poor lil thing, 's a shame babies have to go through them kinds of things. I reckon she looks like a fighter tho." She nodded in understanding. "No need to worry either, Drew's a good boy, he's got th'fear o' his daddy in 'im."

"Ok, c'mon! Mah Papaw said 's long as we don't get inna way of him an' Grampa Jack's work 's fine!" He maneuvered himself between twins and took one of their hands into each of his to lead them hurriedly in the gate to start pointing various things out, talking a mile a minute the wya only kids understand each other.

Greg nodded a little. "She's been deaf since she was born. She doesn't know anything different, so she's good about it." He chuckled at her last, "The girls are little smart-mouths, I'll warn you right now. But they shouldn't be an issue, and if something goes wrong, you can call."

The girls were happy to dash along after Drew, chatting and signing and pointing all the while. They occasionally got caught up looking all around, watching the birds in the trees and all the wildlife. "So cool!" Reina signed something similar, watching some of the horses run in the distance.

She laughed a little, shaking her head. "He's just plain smart. Like I said, he aint got the nerve t'talk like it, but he's got bigger brains than I dis at his age." She sighed. "We'll be fine. But I will call if anything should happen. I suspect they'll be too busy starin' at everythin' in awe."

"It's cool now, but it gets mighty borin' fast." Drew paused. "Oh, an' b'careful when we get by th'horeses. There's cowpies lyin' all over. Mama said she'll be usin' it for fur-teel-izer."

He nodded a little, saying his goodbyes and heading for the gate, not wanting to keep her from watching the kids.

"Eww," The girls groaned in unison as Sofia signed that over, but seemed more amused than truly disgusted. "An' you say that now, but we's love the park. S'just borin' cause you live here. 'Same thing Mami says 'bout Brazil. But we's gonna go there soon, too!"

Alma walked over and put her hands on Drew's shoulders, bending down. "Didja do all th'stuff y'Daddy asked?"

Drew gave an exasperated sigh. "Yeah, Ma."

"Don't be leavin' th'yard, y'hear? I'll be watchin' y'all from the window while I get th'dishes done. Don't be gettin' in y'Papaw's way, neither." She stood up tall. "Have fun, girls." Going up to the house she climbed onto the porch and went thru the screen door.

Drew looked over to the girls. "So y'wanna see th'horses?"

	The girls were exceptionally sweet while Alma was talking to Drew, signing between each other and picking at the weeds near the fence. Once she was gone, they gave Drew matching grins, already excited. "Can we? Please?!" That was obviously a yes, Reina adding a few claps for good measure. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Sofia translated that for Reina before carefully reaching over to run her hand along Honeysuckle's neck as she bent down, giggling as the touch got a snort out of the mare. "She's pretty, Drew!" Sofia seemed in awe, watching the horse move more than paying attention to her new friend, but that was to be expected. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Looking a little unsure- having been bit quite a few times letting TriTri eat out of her hand- Sofia frowned a little, before deciding she trusted Drew enough to hold out her hand with the cube on it. Honeysuckle sniffed at her before wrapping her lips around Fi's small hand and lapping the sugar up.

Sofia squealed out a giggle, moving her hand back to wipe it on her jeans. "That's silly!" Reina saw the reaction and did the same, giggling for herself.

	Drew watched and giggled at their reactions, letting the horse eat off his hand too. He wiped it into his shirt and gave the horse a pat. "Oooh..." Sofia looked up at the mountain, walking out of the barn as if drawn to it. "Can we's go up there?"

"Not 'thout askin' Drew's Ma first, y'can't," A voice drawled from the outside of the barn, Jack ambling into sight and pulling his hat off to give a little bow to the girls. "An' you must be those valnetines Drew was so keen on meetin'. S'a pleasure, misses,"

The girls both giggled, curtseying a little themselves.

Jack gave a small smile and nodded again. "S'my turn t'work out the herd, an' last I saw yer Papaw s'off bein' lazy out back. I'll go get 'im, just a minute." Jack gave another bow to the girls before heading off back into the barn, looking for Ennis.

Sofia looked over to Drew, seeming a little uncertain. "Did you do something bad?" He was giving Jack the look she gave Papi when she did something bad. She didn't want to get him in trouble...

	Ennis was out back, in fact. He'd been out there when the girls arrived, but hadn't moved to greet them, leaving all of that to Alma and Drew. He lay in the grass, whittling on a hunk of wood.
