Who: Sophie Devereaux, Nathan Ford,Alec Hardison, Parker, Eliot Spencer
What: Kidnapping, intervention, yelling and screaming
Where: an undisclosed location
Warnings: Yelling and screaming? Possible Violence?

There were times when it just didn't pay to ask where Hardison found some of the places he did. The snag had gone off pretty well, really... They knew Nate well enough to know where he would be drinking, and Parker was sly enough to get the drugs into his drink without being seen. He'd gone down fast, getting belligerent and hostile as he faded quickly, and Hardison had diverted the call the bartender made to 911, indicating someone would be sent right away. Enter Sophie and Eliot, she as a doctor and he as an orderly, quickly getting the straight jacket onto Nathan and loading him onto a gurney. Given his behavior, it hadn't been hard to convince the bar patrons - those that were actually paying attention - that he was not the most stable guy around. Mostly, the bartender just wanted him out of there, and didn't care who it was facilitating that. They'd whisked him off to whatever this place was, and dumped him into the padded room. After that, it'd been a matter of waiting for him to wake up.

When he did, it was with a vengeance. The four of them had spent the time variously sitting on the cold steel chairs or pacing, all of them dealing with varying levels of guilt. Still, it was the right thing to do. Now, they looked through the one sided glass where Nathan stood against the mirror, yelling all sorts of threats and obscenities at them. It was hard, Sophie thought, to not take it personally, when he knew the things to yell to get under their skin.

With a sigh, Sophie turned to the rest of the team, offering a wry half-smile. "I suppose we ought go in there and explain to him what's going to happen now?"

He'd been in the middle of a tirade directed at Sophie, but stopped then. "The fuck? The fuck did you just say?" His tone, his entire demeanor changed. Parker was nonexistent, at that moment. All of his anger and frustration, all of his need was focused on Sophie. "You care? You fucking drug me, put me in a straight jacket, and now you say you care/ Fuck you, Sophie. Fuck you." His voice was pure venom.

On the other side of the window, Eliot stiffened at Nate's words. A direct assault was far worse than the general ranting he'd been engaged in before. He didn't move, or say anything to Hardison, but kept on ear to the confrontation.

Parker swallowed a bit even though he wasn't paying any attention to her. In a way she was sort of relieved but the other part was that she didn't want him to treat Sophie like that either. Sure they had a past and all of that but she wasn't sure what to do so she just stuck her hands in her pockets.

"She just could have put you out of your misery. She could have just put explosives in your house and killed you. You're killing yourself already and we're trying to stop that."

She'd been expecting the outburst, but for some reason it was worse than she expected. She kept her chin up as he got up in her face, back stiffening just a bit. Were it any other situation, Parker's assertion that she could have just blown him up would have amused. Right now, it was seeming like a viable alternative.

"Yes I care! We all care. You think we like watching you drink yourself into oblivion? Watching you slowly kill yourself hurts, Nate. And whatever self-pitying kick your on needs to end.Go ahead an hate me. Hate all of us. At least you'll be alive."

"And for what? Why would I want to be alive? Why, Sophie?" Nate spat at her feet. He was jonesing for a drink, and he wanted to hate them all. He should have seen it coming, once they were all accounted for. he should have known once Sophie made her grand entrance, they'd all turn against him.

"Nathan." The spitting didn't bother her, but his words cut deep. "Why would you want to die?"

Nate shook his head, then moved to hit against the wall. The thud caused Eliot to look over at the observation window. He drew his gaze back to Hardison's computer, hoping for a really good distraction, right about then.

Nate wasn't ready for the break he knew they were all hoping for. He wasn't going to crack, if he could help it. So he drank too much, that didn't give them the right to do this to him. They'd cornered him. He was a raccoon in a trap, desperate enough to gnaw his leg off to get away.

"Why would I want to live?" he shot back, offering no reprieve, no insight into what was going through his mind. "Have you ever lost a child, Sophie? Parker? No. I didn't think so. So stop playing God and pretending you know what's best for me."

Parker let out a breath and then sat down on the floor of the padded room in one of the corners, away from Nathan. "I haven't ever. I don't know what that feels like. I can't imagine. None of us can imagine that kind of hurt. Maybe we don't know what's best for you, but you don't know what's best for you either," she said plainly.

"But then you don't know what's it's like to be abandoned by the people who gave birth to you and put into a system where everyone they stuck you with. People you were supposed to trust not to harm you to do... really.. really bad things to you. You have to move on. He wouldn't want you to be like this."

"She's right." She took a moment to glance at Parker and make sure she was ok, before recentering her focus on Nathan. "We all have our crosses to bear."

"We're not the ones playing God, Nathan. You are. You're killing yourself. Is that what Sam would want? This does nothing to help him." She moved closer, slowly, the way one might approach a hurt animal, keeping her tone calm even if her words were pointed. "Don't use the departed to excuse your behavior."

"Don't. Don't you say his name!" Nate hollered, surging toward her. "Don't you use my son against me!" He reached her, and shoved into her shoulder. He was closer to his breaking point than he'd realised.

She seemed to be fine that was at least until Nathan went to throw himself at Sophie. It made her kind of gasp and rush over so that she could help. "Nathan! For fuck's sake!" she wasn't exactly the toughest woman in the world. "Eliot!" she yelled, really hoping that he'd help.

" Nathan." She reached for his shoulders as he slammed into her, stepping back towards the wall to keep her balance. On one hand, she didn't think he'd really hurt her, if he was thinking at all. On the other, she didn't think he was thinking. Of course, this was the same man that once shot her...

"Nathan, we're not using your son against you. But I think you are. We're not asking you to forget him. We just want you to remember there are people here who care. Who you're hurting with this behavior. Nate, watching you kill yourself slowly is killing me."

Eliot rushed to the door when he heard his name. Seeing the scene in the room, he stopped short at the door. He wasn't sure Sophie had Nate under control, but he wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt.

"You haven't been here!" Nate yelled, hands at Sophie's shoulders. Eliot took a step forward, but stopped himself. Nate fell forward, holding on to Sophie, knees buckling.

Parker backed off a bit once she saw that Nate wasn't actually going to hurt Sophie. This whole thing was just.. she didn't know anymore. She didn't want anyone to get hurt, not this time anyway.

She went over to Eliot and looked over at him. "Maybe we should give them a .. minute?" Her being there wasn't doing any good or any worse, so she didn't know the point of being there anymore.

Her eyes widened slightly as she looked at him. She could tell Eliot had entered, but didn't want to move her attention away from the man in front of her. He was throwing her completely for a loop. Did he really want her to apologize for not being sent to the same alternate reality quickly enough? She wasn't sure how to take the accusation. She knew how she wanted to take it, but didn't trust her instinct. There were too many questions.

"Nate." She just held him as he fell into her, sighing lightly. "I haven't been here. But I'm here now. We're all here."

Nate had no words, at that point, and just clung to Sophie. He wasn't crying, but his eyes were glassy and his mouth was open in a silent sob. His hands gripped her shoulders, holding on to her, as if for life.

Eliot pulled his gaze away, feeling like he was watching a train wreck. "Yeah. Uh. Yeah." He took a step back, moving toward the door. "Give them a minute," he nodded, trying not to look at the scene happening inside the room.

Sophie glanced at Parker and Eliot, offering a bit of a helpless shrug - this was not at all what she'd been expecting to happen. Turning back to Nathan she reached, brushing his hair of his face.

"Nate. It's going to be alright. We're going to help.. and I'll be here. I'm not going anywhere. ok?"

Nate didn't verbalise a reply, but still clung to Sophie. He turned his face into her shoulder, and finally gave in to the sobs, a heartbreaking sound as he finally let go of everything he'd been holding on to.

She was glad at least that his face was hidden, and that he wasn't witnessing the absolute confusion that slid over her face as he broke down. Their relationship had been on the verge of something deeper for a while, but it had never crossed that line of being more. they'd skirted around the issue quite well, she thought. Of course, if it wasn't in the middle of an intervention while three very interested and nosy people were watching, the obvious proof that he didn't like the idea of life without her might be a bit more easy to deal with.

Fingers stroked lightly through his hair as she held him, trying to push away her other thoughts. They didn't matter - getting him sober did. With a sigh, she murmured softly to him. "Get it all out, Nate. It's alright."

It didn't take Nate long to exhaust himself. He finally fell silent, but didn't lessen his grip on Sophie. He kept his hands firm on her, afraid to let her go.

Eliot was the one to bring a glass of water. He'd insisted. he wasn't sure Nate wouldn't go after Parker, and Hardison seemed intent on whatever he was doing on his computer. He went in with a scowl, fully prepared to crack Nate's skull, if it came to it.

He was not prepared for the reality of Nate's break down. he tried to hand Sophie the water without really looking at Nate. it just seemed wrong, somehow, Like a trainwreck.

Eliot slipped out of the room, and headed over to give Hardison and Parker an update. Inside the room, Nate took the water in both hands, needing to use both, to steady his shaking enough to hold the cup and bring it to his lips.

She watched Eliot as he entered and left, taking the water from him silently. He was next on her very short list of people to talk to, but he'd wait. Once he was gone she returned her attention to Nate as he drank. She didn't want to hold the glass for him, but she would if she had to. She wasn't sure how much of the trembling was from withdrawal and how much was from the little break down. Not that it mattered.

"Better?"

He managed to hold the cup himself, but after a moment pass it back to her. He would drop it, if he tried to hold it when he wasn't hunched over drinking from it.

"No," he answered, moving away from Sophie to sit on the floor by the wall.

Stepping out of the room, Sophie leaned against the door for a moment, Covering her face with her hands as she pulled her self together, she waited a moment before moving to the room with the others.

She wasn't sure what to say, really... She'd not been expecting that scene at all. "I think... he'll be ok."

Eliot was the first to acknowledge Sophie's appearance. he also noted she'd left the door open, and he wasn't entirely sure that was a good idea, but for the moment Nate didn't seem to be going anywhere. He nodded to Sophie and walked around, to the far side of the room. Eliot didn't do emotional scenes well, and didn't think the rest of them did, either.

She smiled then at them all, shedding off the emotional baggage that she'd carried out of the room. Sure, she might be using the voice she used on marks, but in this scenario it really did seem warranted. As far as her demeanor went, everything was business as usual.

"I've no idea how long the drying out will really take, but he'll sleep for a bit. Effects of the drugs still I suppose. We should probably take turns watching him, yes?"
