Who: Sophie Devereaux, Nathan Ford,Alec Hardison, Parker, Eliot Spencer
What: Kidnapping, intervention, yelling and screaming
Where: an undisclosed location
Warnings: Yelling and screaming? Possible Violence?

There were times when it just didn't pay to ask where Hardison found some of the places he did. The snag had gone off pretty well, really... They knew Nate well enough to know where he would be drinking, and Parker was sly enough to get the drugs into his drink without being seen. He'd gone down fast, getting belligerent and hostile as he faded quickly, and Hardison had diverted the call the bartender made to 911, indicating someone would be sent right away. Enter Sophie and Eliot, she as a doctor and he as an orderly, quickly getting the straight jacket onto Nathan and loading him onto a gurney. Given his behavior, it hadn't been hard to convince the bar patrons - those that were actually paying attention - that he was not the most stable guy around. Mostly, the bartender just wanted him out of there, and didn't care who it was facilitating that. They'd whisked him off to whatever this place was, and dumped him into the padded room. After that, it'd been a matter of waiting for him to wake up.

When he did, it was with a vengeance. The four of them had spent the time variously sitting on the cold steel chairs or pacing, all of them dealing with varying levels of guilt. Still, it was the right thing to do. Now, they looked through the one sided glass where Nathan stood against the mirror, yelling all sorts of threats and obscenities at them. It was hard, Sophie thought, to not take it personally, when he knew the things to yell to get under their skin.

With a sigh, Sophie turned to the rest of the team, offering a wry half-smile. "I suppose we ought go in there and explain to him what's going to happen now?"

Parker backed off a bit once she saw that Nate wasn't actually going to hurt Sophie. This whole thing was just.. she didn't know anymore. She didn't want anyone to get hurt, not this time anyway.

She went over to Eliot and looked over at him. "Maybe we should give them a .. minute?" Her being there wasn't doing any good or any worse, so she didn't know the point of being there anymore.

Her eyes widened slightly as she looked at him. She could tell Eliot had entered, but didn't want to move her attention away from the man in front of her. He was throwing her completely for a loop. Did he really want her to apologize for not being sent to the same alternate reality quickly enough? She wasn't sure how to take the accusation. She knew how she wanted to take it, but didn't trust her instinct. There were too many questions.

"Nate." She just held him as he fell into her, sighing lightly. "I haven't been here. But I'm here now. We're all here."

Nate had no words, at that point, and just clung to Sophie. He wasn't crying, but his eyes were glassy and his mouth was open in a silent sob. His hands gripped her shoulders, holding on to her, as if for life.

Eliot pulled his gaze away, feeling like he was watching a train wreck. "Yeah. Uh. Yeah." He took a step back, moving toward the door. "Give them a minute," he nodded, trying not to look at the scene happening inside the room.

Sophie glanced at Parker and Eliot, offering a bit of a helpless shrug - this was not at all what she'd been expecting to happen. Turning back to Nathan she reached, brushing his hair of his face.

"Nate. It's going to be alright. We're going to help.. and I'll be here. I'm not going anywhere. ok?"

Nate didn't verbalise a reply, but still clung to Sophie. He turned his face into her shoulder, and finally gave in to the sobs, a heartbreaking sound as he finally let go of everything he'd been holding on to.

She was glad at least that his face was hidden, and that he wasn't witnessing the absolute confusion that slid over her face as he broke down. Their relationship had been on the verge of something deeper for a while, but it had never crossed that line of being more. they'd skirted around the issue quite well, she thought. Of course, if it wasn't in the middle of an intervention while three very interested and nosy people were watching, the obvious proof that he didn't like the idea of life without her might be a bit more easy to deal with.

Fingers stroked lightly through his hair as she held him, trying to push away her other thoughts. They didn't matter - getting him sober did. With a sigh, she murmured softly to him. "Get it all out, Nate. It's alright."

It didn't take Nate long to exhaust himself. He finally fell silent, but didn't lessen his grip on Sophie. He kept his hands firm on her, afraid to let her go.

She canted her head down to look at him, offering a light smile. "Feel better? Think you're ready to talk to everyone?"

Nate managed to shake his head. "Not yet." He didn't want to face the others. He didn't want them to see him like this, completely broken, beaten down. He wanted to pretend they weren't there, they never were.

"Alright." She nodded slowly, stroking her hand lightly down his back. "We can wait for that. You just tell me what you want."

"I need a drink," he said, voice raspy. He meant water, maybe juice. Something to wet his throat. He didn't think about the way he said it, or that Sophie might think he meant he wanted booze.

"Nate!"

With a sharp shrug she pulled away from him, holding his shoulders as she stepped back, scowling. "No. That's the whole point of this. It's got to stop! We're going to dry you out if it kills all of us."

"Oh. Yes, of course." She offered a pointed glance at the mirror where she knew the others were. "Water it is, then." She dropped her arms back to her side, a bit embarrassed by her assumption.

Eliot was the one to bring a glass of water. He'd insisted. he wasn't sure Nate wouldn't go after Parker, and Hardison seemed intent on whatever he was doing on his computer. He went in with a scowl, fully prepared to crack Nate's skull, if it came to it.

He was not prepared for the reality of Nate's break down. he tried to hand Sophie the water without really looking at Nate. it just seemed wrong, somehow, Like a trainwreck.

Eliot slipped out of the room, and headed over to give Hardison and Parker an update. Inside the room, Nate took the water in both hands, needing to use both, to steady his shaking enough to hold the cup and bring it to his lips.

She watched Eliot as he entered and left, taking the water from him silently. He was next on her very short list of people to talk to, but he'd wait. Once he was gone she returned her attention to Nate as he drank. She didn't want to hold the glass for him, but she would if she had to. She wasn't sure how much of the trembling was from withdrawal and how much was from the little break down. Not that it mattered.

"Better?"

He managed to hold the cup himself, but after a moment pass it back to her. He would drop it, if he tried to hold it when he wasn't hunched over drinking from it.

"No," he answered, moving away from Sophie to sit on the floor by the wall.

"No?"

She sighed, holding the glass lightly in one hand as she followed him over. Crouching down, she canted her head as she looked at him, waiting for him to elaborate.

Nate dropped his head back against the wall, the picture of exposed vulnerability. "No," he said again, a hand moving up to scrub across his face. "This sucks.'

"OK." She nodded, patting his leg lightly. "We'll get you a bed. You don't have to do this by yourself, Nate. You're not alone." Leaning in she kissed his cheek, then moved to stand.

Great. They'd reached the surly point of the detox. Not much to be done about it. she moved toward the door, flashing him a smile. "Rest well, then."

Stepping out of the room, Sophie leaned against the door for a moment, Covering her face with her hands as she pulled her self together, she waited a moment before moving to the room with the others.

She wasn't sure what to say, really... She'd not been expecting that scene at all. "I think... he'll be ok."

Eliot was the first to acknowledge Sophie's appearance. he also noted she'd left the door open, and he wasn't entirely sure that was a good idea, but for the moment Nate didn't seem to be going anywhere. He nodded to Sophie and walked around, to the far side of the room. Eliot didn't do emotional scenes well, and didn't think the rest of them did, either.

She smiled then at them all, shedding off the emotional baggage that she'd carried out of the room. Sure, she might be using the voice she used on marks, but in this scenario it really did seem warranted. As far as her demeanor went, everything was business as usual.

"I've no idea how long the drying out will really take, but he'll sleep for a bit. Effects of the drugs still I suppose. We should probably take turns watching him, yes?"
