Who: Prince Kael'Thas Sunstrider and Open to all who want to try and take him down
Where: Rockerfeller Square
When: Saturday
Why: He's reverted to big bad magic guy and has to be stopped
Rating: Uh PG-13 for ass kicking?

He'd sent his phoenix on a rampage, the bird flying high up, and with a flaming strike, dove down and set fire to the entire block around the ice rink in the center of the square.

"Good, good boy. Melt the ice," he instructed, pointing at the rink. "This will make an excellent reconstruction site." The phoenix nodded, circled back around and spewed a jet of flame so hot that the ice melted and began to boil immediately. When it'd finished its task, he moved to hover just above Kael'Thas, where dressed in large arcane robes, he moved about setting what appeared to be some powerful magically imbued gems around the outer ring of the rink. They glowed green with a low hum just like the large green crystal protruding from his chest. He was a shadow of the way he'd been before this. His skin was greyish and gaunt, his face sunken in...one of the Wretched. He'd been resurrected by his master and now he would do what he'd always wished to: restore the Sunwell and bring glory back to his people, the Sin'dorei, children of the blood.

He didn't see anything foreseeable stopping his plans. Soon, all would be well.

Codex waited anxiously for everyone to arrive across the street from Kael's place. She was trying not to think about the situation too much. She didn't want to be the leader. She was sure she wouldn't be able to make the tough decisions. Seeing Al'ar burst into flames was a shock. Codex thought she and the bird had started getting along. But Kael wasn't himself anymore, and neither was the bird.

She wrapped her arms around herself, looking up at the building. It was deceptively quiet. She shivered in the cold. She hadn't left the area since she'd fled the building, and hadn't brought a jacket with her.

There were several people on the way. She wasn't sure it would be enough. She took a deep breath, rocking back and forth on her feet.

She will hear the throaty roar of a V8 engine before she sees its owner gliding along down the street, dual red strobes along the Mustang's hood tracing back and forth with a sedate but confident pace.

The vehicle pulls up beside her and sets itself to idle, its exhaust fumes clouding behind it in the cold air.

Marco arrived pretty quickly. Though he was a joker and a shameless flirt, he knew when to be serious. This was one of those times. He'd gathered his stuff and headed straight to the portkey, keeping it covered so he wouldn't be arrested for carrying military-grade hardware. Twenty grenades in a bandoleer across his chest, hidden under his coat, an Armalite AR-10B assault rifle and two Glock 9mms, both of which hidden in a duffel bag, an energy sword that he wore on his side as if it were a toy, and a ton of ammo. The .308 rounds for the rifle were stashed in every pocket he had, while a ton of extra clips for the handguns were resting in the duffel bag.

When he arrived, he glanced towards Codex and the car, which he identified due to the trademark red strobe. He didn't fanboy. There were more important things on his mind now. He'd been planning since first notified of the crisis, but he didn't want to go over anything until everyone got here. He did greet them both with a nod, though. "How many are we waiting for," he questioned, adjusting the duffel on his shoulder.

Seth arrived next, her sword strapped to her back. The monstrosity's hilt was above her head, and the tip of it threatened to tap her ankles with every step, but she wore it as if it weighed nothing. She nodded to Codex, face grim as she sized up the situation. There weren't many people there, and she was more worried about their well-being than anything else. Not everyone was like her.

Unstrapping the sword, she tossed it from one hand to the other, waiting idly.

Soren approached the throng of people with weapons, figuring if there was going to be a fight, they were probably going to be in it. (Sometimes, his detective abilities were pretty good!) He didn't have a weapon, and he was wearing jeans and a t-shirt with the arms cut off. All in all, he was dressed for business as usual. The only way anyone could tell he was gearing up for a fight was the fact that he'd braided his hair and tied it back carefully. Nothing sucked more than hair getting in the way of a spell.

"Crap, I'm late, aren't I?"

The A.I.'s response is warm, even and smooth. "If you are referring to the confrontation Codex was discussing earlier, the conflict with which we are scheduled to become engaged has not yet been undertaken or even begun. Under those parameters, you are not, in fact, late."

"Oh, good." Soren blinked. He didn't want to point out the obvious - hey, a talking car! - but it was enough to make him pause, shake his head, and start over again. He crouched down, sitting on the concrete while they waited. "Thanks."

It'd been so long since he'd had to actually wear the suit that it felt a bit foreign to him, but here was his chance to do some real fighting, so Tony definitely wasn't passing up this chance. Flying in, he landed where the group was and slid the face plate back to see just what he was working with.

"Better not have started without me or it might have broken my heart."

Not far behind Tony, a magical portal opened up where a man roughly Tony's size and make stepped through, a seemingly serious expression on his face. "Doctor Stephen Strange, at your service," he said as he approached the one called Codex.

Sophie hung back behind her dad. As much as she dug the idea of her first rodeo with a baddie that wasn't some punk ass shoplifter, she still hesitated to just come out to the world yelling " why yes I am daughter of Ironman!"

Similar suits not withstanding, Kitsune wanted her own mark on the world. She knew how petty it was, and that this really isn't the time for superhero teenage rebellion. So she kept quiet and kept her foxy ears open. And if anyone asked? Learning experience.

Logan sauntered up to the scene, equipped with his leather jacket and cowboy hat. The only thing he seemed to be carrying was a cigar. He nodded to Tony and Strange before looking around at the rest of the group.

"This it?" he asked, not sounding very impressed. Though whether his disinterest stemmed from the ragtag party or the villain that they expected to face was anybody's guess.

Marco observed the arrivals, gears turning over in his head as a rough plan began to take shape. He analyzed based on the evidence and tweaked little details. He started with Codex. Seems like a nice girl. Stressed, for obvious reasons. A little jumpy. Probably the only dedicated healer we'll have, we need to keep her as protected as possible. Maybe even out of sight, if Kael still recognizes her. Which brought his eyes to KITT, the talking car. Not sure what the capabilities are there, but he's likely the safest place to be in this entire battle. Codex needs to hole up in there and stay there 'til this is over. Could also serve as a sort of long range tank. He glanced at the woman with the huge sword. Tank written all over her. Doubt she'll accept the energy sword, with such an impressive sword already. He glanced to the blonde guy that had shown up, but couldn't really tell what it was he could do. "Hey, guy," he called over to him. He didn't mean to be rude, but he didn't know his name and somehow calling him 'blondie' sounded even worse. "What do you do?"

He glanced at the newest arrivals. Iron Man. Just as cool as I expected. Didn't expect two powersuits showing up. Maybe separate them, have Iron Man on air support...? He considered it for a moment and then shot the idea down in his head. Doubt he'd give a powersuit to just anyone. Potentially an employee, or a relation, and I'm not having that argument. Assume where she goes, he goes. They'll both tank, then.

Next came Dr. Strange. He couldn't believe what a star-studded event this was turning into. If it weren't for a massive crisis, he might have been grinning like a maniac. Strange, and any mages that show up, need to lay down as much protection as they can. After that, just drop the massive spells as fast as humanly possible.

Wolverine wasn't even in question. He was an obvious tank. That part of the plan manifested the minute Codex had mentioned that Wolverine would be involved.

He didn't say anything yet. He would give any stragglers a little more time to show up first. That way he wouldn't have to repeat the plan and everyone would be on the same page. Assuming Codex still didn't want to be leader and no one else stepped up, he'd take it from there.

She'd seen the call for help on the net, and it seemed like she shit was hitting the fan pretty damn close to home. She wasn't at all sure what the hell had happened this past week, but a fight seemed like a prime idea right about now.

She was alone as she walked up to the gathering, silent as she took in the crowd, not really recognizing anyone in particular, though it was obvious the group was gathering for a fight. It'd been years - eons, if she wanted to be honest - since she'd done any work as part of a group, but who knew... she might prove useful. Wasn't like the guy could kill her.

"I believe the appropriate phrase would be 'quality over quantity'. While my scans only reveal partial information on the individuals present at this juncture, I think it would be a reasonable conjecture to say that what everyone collectively can bring to the table, as it were, is more than superlative." A pause, while the red lights continue to trace back and forth along the Shelby Cobra's hood. "But it is true that numbers can also be an asset."

Soren looked over at the guy that had called out to him and grinned. "I'm a black mage, my mom taught me. Figure if this guy throws fireballs, I'll throw some ice back at him. I know I don't look like much, but if worst comes to worst, I can try blowing him up." He shrugged a little.

Codex looked around, not seeing either of her guild mates. Maybe that was for the better, really. All of these people had powers and stuff. Obviously she wouldn't have to heal Wolverine, and Seth had said she wouldn't need healing either. She didn't even know how to heal KITT, and she wasn't sure she could get through the powersuits, either. So that limited the people she had to keep an eye on.

She gave a half-hearted wave as she was approached by Dr. Strange. "Um. Thanks." She was clearly uncomfortable being in a leader-like role.

Poor girl. He felt rather sorry for her, having to face off against one she loved. He knew that all too well. He bowed, "You're very welcome," he said to the young redhead.

"I shall cast protection around Wolverine, Iron Man and whomever will be within melee range of the man. If he can produce electrical damage, their suits," and he pointed in the direction of Iron Man and his cohort, "will most likely power surge. Wolverine might have a problem with the metal running through his body, but I'm sure he knows his limits more than I. Do not worry about the phoenix. I will handle him."

"Personally, I'm planning to hit him with everything I've got and see what does the most damage, wash, rinse and repeat. We might want to get on this soon because wasn't he talking about raising some well of sun thing? I don't know what the hell that means." Tony had Jarvis uploaded in his HUD and Sophie's, and was currently scanning the internet for information on this character since she had stated he was from a game. He slid his face plate back in place and looked over the information from the game Jarvis was running across the HUD, eyes scanning the different attacks he could possibly do. All high level damage. He was deeply concerned about his daughter being a part of this, but at least he was here and she hadn't gone out without him knowing.

Sophie examined the information as well and actually had to physically stop herself from rolling her eyes, even though no one would really see it behind her helmet.

"It's from an internet game? Seriously? Why don't we just battle a giant LOLcat? Makes just as much sense doesn't it?"

She was nervous and antsy. She wanted to get out there and get it over with, but at the same time she wanted to put it off as long as possible.

She crossed her arms and tried to project an attitude of bordom, grateful for the armor hiding her real emotions which were probably written all over her face at this point. Looking cocky was always better for a superhero than looking like a kid about to puke on the bus on the first day of school.

"I am not familiar with that which you are referring to, but I take it from your statement that you find this scenario implausible." The black Mustang continues to idle. "For my part, I will also state that I have never truly encountered this concept of magic before, and am unfamiliar with its parameters and limitations. However, I am capable of withstanding considerable blast damage and surface temperatures in the several thousands of degrees. I can comfortably seat 4 passengers should the need arise, and I have many different armaments at my disposal, both lethal and nonlethal. I have no frame of reference for their efficacy against a magical target, but I expect I shall discover that today."

I can't die, and I can swing whatever weapon you think is gonna help." Not that she had one on her, but she could conjure up anything once she knew what the basic idea was.

Marco sighed, running one hand through his hair. He'd hoped that more people would show up, but it seemed that they had all they were going to get right here. Okay, fine, I can work with this.

He schooled his features into the kind of commanding look he'd seen Jake adopt in times like these and faced the group. "Okay. Here's the plan: When we get in there, I want Wolverine," he nodded at Logan, "the two Irons, and," he glanced at Seth, "you, I'm sorry I don't know your name but we can do introductions after this, to get in his face. Once you're there, fuck him up. Your job is to make sure he keeps his focus on you guys. Yes, it's dangerous, and you'll probably be taking heavy damage. But that's the point."

He turned to Codex next. "You, Codex, are our dedicated healer. You need to be in the safest spot on the battlefield. That," he gestured to KITT, "is where KITT comes in." He wasn't entirely concerned with whether KITT was unnerved at Marco knowing his name without ever meeting him before. Now wasn't the time for that sort of thing. Typically he'd have her healing focused on the tanks, but since two of them flat-out told her not to, and the other two might not be affected by it in their powersuits, he figured he'd give it a brief mention and move on. "If the tanks need healing, let 'em have it, but if it's not viable focus on whoever else needs it." He gave her a serious look. Not intimidating, but he wanted to make sure she realized how important his next statement was. "You need to stay inside. He'll know you're a healer, and that paints a bulls eye on your head. A big bulls eye." He glanced at KITT. "Keep Codex safe. If you can do lifescans, do them often, so that she knows who needs her healing the most. If you want to fire any weapons you have at him, go for it, we'll need all the offensive help we can get."

He'd noticed the girl with the bow and turned to her. "You and me will be firing from ranged. We stay close enough to communicate, but far enough that one attack won't take out both of us. If there's available cover, we take up positions behind it, if not then we'll need to keep on the move."

He turned to Soren and Dr. Strange. "You guys already have the right idea. All I can add is that I want layered protections on as many of us as you can, excluding me. I've got protection already." He gestured to the anti-ray shield, the amulet-looking thing he was wearing around his neck. "After that, go with your plans. I especially like the bubble idea, Doctor."

He turned to Bladezz. "I can tell from what you've got there that you should be the key doing massive sneak attack damage. Go with that." He didn't know what the other woman could do, but he didn't want Bladezz on his own. "Ma'am, you'll be doing the same thing." He tossed his energy sword to her, sword-belt, sheath and all. "Swing that. It's got a little extra oomph, but then again, most of us have got a little extra oomph ourselves."

He glanced around at all of them, then smashed his fist into his open palm. "We're done waiting. Remember your roles. Let's do this thing." Not caring about the scene anymore, he opened his duffel and removed the rifle, checking it like a pro before slinging it over his shoulder. "Move out." Despite his desire to shout the Avenger's catchphrase, his mood had taken on a bit too serious of a turn for that.

He led the group across the street, pausing briefly at the door. Here we go... He shoved open the doors and proceeded to head in, keeping low. Or at least that's what he tried to do. Instead, the group was teleported, much like in an actual instance, into the main battlefield. He identified it as Rockefeller Square.

"Everybody go!" He saw a good spot and tossed a significant look at Tink to catch her attention, then jerked his head and began moving swiftly to the area he'd spotted as perfect for ranged combat. The two of them set up there, and he signaled her to stay down. He didn't want to draw any attention until after the tanks were in position.

"So does this mean I can't call shotgun in the pretty car?" She said to no one in particular, but fully aware that both Jarvis and her dad would hear it anyway.

Being the rookie, she followed Wolverine and Ironman out, thrusters set so she hovered above the ground a few inches, before flying off with Ironman to go wreck some havoc on the crazy pixel thing. Hopefully, she wouldn't be too scared to be witty. All the good superheros were smartasses. Weren't they?

It's difficult to unnerve an artificial intelligence. The body of the Mustang suddenly begins to shift and reform itself; its sleek lines becoming sharper and more aggressive in appearance. All the windows, including the windshield, are entirely opaque, preventing anyone from seeing inside the car.

"Attack mode formation complete." The driver's side door lifts upward as he moves to pull up close beside her. "Codex, if you would."

She nodded as she caught the energy sword, eyeing it as she swung it experimentally for a moment or two to get a feel for it, simply nodding at the guy's direction. If he wanted to be leader? more power to him. She glanced at Bladezz, who was apparently her fellow sneak attacker. "I'm Até. Ready for this?" She just smirked as she didn't wait for an answer, instead following the rest out the door onto what was apparently the battlefield. Damn this place was strange.

On a normal day, Codex would be pretty excited about riding in KITT, even if it wasn't old school KITT. Today, though, her anxiety was palpable. She didn't argue about staying in the car. When the door opened for her, she ducked in and settled down.

Once the door was closed, she confided in the car. "I've never healed from inside a car before. I don't know if you'll have to crack a window or what." She was guessing that as long as she could see them and there was airflow or something, she could probably heal them. They'd have to find out. She was satisfied with this plan, though. She didn't have to get her hands too dirty in trying to kill her boyfriend.

"Oh, life scans would be great, too." She had been thinking she was just going to have to estimate that. But if KITT could show her basically the same sort of interface she had on the game, that would make things easier. Oh, hey, and other perks about being in a car too. "Hey, can I use the seat warmer?" It seemed rude to push buttons without asking.

The dash looks exceedingly luxurious but otherwise unremarkable, that is, apart from the small half-globe set into the center of it. Within that globe, a small, rippling blue binary ocean is dominated by a central red spot that seems to sit upon a thin line. It is that spot that moves now, as if it's some kind of 'eye'. The closest the A.I. can come to visually addressing someone.

"There are a great deal of unknowns about this confrontation," comes the reply, which is eminently masculine, though far more sedate than his predecessor's. On the interior of the windshield, a number of displays pop up, detailing the vital signs of the team that has just assembled. "I have only the baseline standards of human physiology with which to work with, but I will make certain to alert you to any significant change in their status."

With that, the car begins to move, tires squealing in protest at the sudden torque being applied to their static nature as the engine revs and the car accelerates. "I have already activated the heating element within your seat, as I noted a significant drop in your thermal output levels. I have also registered noticeable levels of cortisol and norepinephrine in your system, which would indicate stress, and perhaps worry about the outcome of this engagement."

Codex smiled weakly when KITT said he'd already turned on the warmers. "Thanks." That was kinda sweet. The car probably didn't think in those terms, but it was still nice that he--should she think of him as a 'he'?--anticipated her needs like that.

"Oh," she mumbled when she mentioned her stress levels. "Yeah. Pretty much." She didn't really know what else to say. She was just waiting until someone got hurt, as bad as that sounded. "You're really pretty?" she offered. Her car was an old junker. Nothing like this.

"Oh!" She was startled when she saw the new location. "This looks bad..." She couldn't tell how far along Kael was with his ritual-thing, but stuff was on fire and just...bad. Maybe it was a silly thing to do in KITT, but Cyd reached up and pulled her seatbelt down, buckling it into place.

"Compliments are unnecessary, but they are nonetheless appreciated." The Mustang's speed picks up, as it seeks an advantageous position that will permit her to see the entire field of battle. "Passive restraint system activated. Exoskeleton integrity at one hundred per cent. Nanorepair mods active. Tire pressure normal. Weapons and targeting system online." Readouts and displays pop up and then vanish, lines of code and data streaming past.

"Accessing information on the Massive Multi Online Roleplaying Game known as, 'World of Warcraft.' Tailoring interface for maximum compatibility." With that, a new screen comes up, resembling identically that of the one used in the game. "Will this suffice?"

"We should probably test this.." she said, leaning over the screen. "Can you crack the window? I'm going to try and buff everybody. We'll see if it works." She said a quick prayer of fortitude and was relieved to see the familiar glow around her party members.

Wolverine didn't need to be told twice. He probably should've waited for Strange to put his little bubbles around things, but Logan knew his role and his role was to get his ass up there and start stabbing stuff. It had been a while since he'd charged into a real fight, but it came back to him like riding a bike. A really sharp, pointy bike.

Wolverine ran up into the fray, heading straight for the evil magic looking guy.

Just as he'd pulled a book from his robes, the loud, piercing screech of the phoenix cut through the air, alerting Kael'thas to the incoming raiders. There were quite a number, not more than he'd dealt with in the past, but he had buried them all in his quest to finish his task. Still, no use in letting them get a footing either way.

"Al'ar, show our guests a...proper greeting," he commanded with a sneer and waved his pet toward them. The phoenix circled and took off toward the incoming party, and just as he was about to dive...a large blue bubble engulfed the fiery bird where it struggled inside, blazing itself hotter to try and melt through. Flaming breath spouted from its beak as he worked to destroy the bubble to no avail.

"The bird is down for now!" shouted Doctor Strange as he flew in not far behind Iron Man who'd jetted off hard toward Kael'thas. "Go! Go!" and he waved, summoning similar bubbles around Iron Man, his daughter, and the others running in toward Kael'thas.

[ooc: Anyone running in within melee range of Kael now has a bubble around them. Couldn't remember who all was doing that.]

Logan kept running, ignoring the bubble. He didn't think he needed it, but as long as it didn't get in the way of his claws, he was fine. For a second he wished Colossus was here. Now would be a good time for a fastball special. Probably a few people here who could fill in, but he liked to know someone's name before he let them fling him into the air.

Once he was close, he shouted to get the magician's attention. "Hey bub! Nice dress." And then he lunged, claws extended.

"You have the audacity to speak to me?" Hmm some kind of magical protection around this one. No matter. He was certain he could penetrate the defenses. Drawing his sword, his other hand looked as though it were charging up some kind of flame in his palm at the small man with a fist weapon. He sent a very large, fireball directed at the clawed one headed in his direction, certain it would do considerable damage.

The flames licked around the outside of the bubble. Logan wasn't really phased. Another person would've probably been impressed, but Logan seemed to be ignoring the bubble. He aimed his attack at the man's side, thrusting with both hands.

Hm. So he couldn't magically strike him. No matter. He turned and sidestepped the claws, his large sword coming down in an overhead strike to attempt to hit Wolverine.

Wolverine moved down and forward, dodging the worst of the strike, but the sword still sliced along his back. Blood appeared in the wound, then quickly vanished as it healed over. Logan lunged again, his claws aiming for Kael's lower abdomen.

Kael laughed as he cut Wolverine's back, though since he saw it heal right in front of his eyes, he assumed that little healer was about and fixed him and not the fact he was fighting a mutant with super healing factor. Before he could dodge Wolverine's attack, Kael was caught off guard by a strong blast out of nowhere to his chest, knocking him back a few feet away from Wolverine.

Iron Man had dove in and shot off a few blasts, one having hit Kael square in the chest in the crystal, though it didn't damage it at all. If anything, it looked like it was glowing brighter.

Logan grumbled a little as his claws sliced into the air. "Way to go, Tinhead," he mumbled under his breath. But Wolverine was quick and charged again, hoping to take advantage of Kael's disorientation.

"C'mon, pretty boy," he said, addressing Kael as he tried to plunge his claws into the man's chest. "Whatcha got?"

She had moved around the back of Kael while the super hero types had headed straight in, watching for a moment as she took stock of the enemy they were fighting. She was quick, but she couldn't tell exactly how fast the creepy guy really was. Of course, teleportation had it's advantages - she just didn't know if this bubble thing around her was going to be a help or a hindrance. She poked at it lightly from the inside for a moment, then went in.

Using Wolverine's attacks as a distraction, she got being Kael, the energy sword out of it's sheath in a moment as she swung, slashing across his back.

Marco watched the others rush past, the familiar feeling of chaos washing over him. He closed his eyes and took a breath and focused, mentally cutting through all the chaos. He heard Strange shout and watched as peeked his head above the wall to see Wolverine heading towards Kael. He pulled open his yellow leather racing jacket and yanked three grenades from the bandoleer. "Hey!" He still didn't know her name, but it didn't matter at the moment, he'd gotten her attention. He tossed the inactive grenades to her, mouthing 'in case you need them'. The rest of the seventeen, he kept for himself. He didn't plan on using them while the tanks were close, but if they were pushed back for whatever reason, a grenade going off in Kael's face would likely distract him enough for them to get back into close range.

Then he gave Tink a signal and popped up above the wall, kneeling and bracing his rifle against the top of the wall to improve his accuracy. Without missing a beat he squeezed the trigger, opening up with short, controlled bursts, eyes narrow to dampen the effect of the muzzle flash. He made sure to keep his aim away from those in melee with Kael. Bet that stings worse than a blunderbuss.

Already alerted and ready, Kael waved his hands and a large crystalline barrier bubbled out to block any magical projectiles while he dealt with the ones within melee range. They currently had his aggro. He wasn't expecting the bullets from the rifle, and one glanced his shoulder through the barrier.

Then his gaze shifted toward Marco where he held out his palm and charged another fireball, launching it in that direction.

Marco swore and bolted, staying low to the ground to avoid opening himself up to even more attacks. He felt the fireball explode into the place he'd been moments before and noted that keeping Tink at a distance was a good idea. He popped up again, leveling the rifle and firing another burst. He was in the zone now, and would continue dodging and shooting until something prevented him from doing so.
