Who: Lilo Pelekai and Teja Wartooth.
What: Coffee!
When: Early Sunday morning, after the tine!plot started.
Where: A coffee shop, bound to vary.
Warnings: Swearing for sure, don't know what else. Will update.

Lilo couldn't believe that Teja Wartooth had asked her to go get coffee. After wiping her palms off on her jeans, she went to change into something that would be more appropriate for getting coffee with a boy that made her heart pound. She picked a tiny denim skirt and a white t-shirt, slipping her feet into black spike heels that put her at just over six feet tall. Her father was still asleep, so she managed to tiptoe out the front door to wait on the front stoop. Pulling out a mirror she fixed up her hair and swiped on some Chapstick while she waited.

Teja had to go back to Mordhaus to get into something more coffee-appropriate, himself. The only person he knew that was the right age was Lilo. He was certain Sadako was still the right age, too, but she was never not nineteen. Lilo, however, was somewhat more important just at the moment. He'd always been friends with her, in some capacity or another - he remembered babysitting her on nights when Teague and Brenda needed time alone.

He had sent a klokateer out for proper clothes in his size before he had even seen Miniver wandering around, and there was a varied selection on his bed when he got back. With a quick change into a pair of slacks and a teeshirt, with a black leather coat to go over it, Teja walked back out to the portkey, and made his way to Teague's house. Once there, he ran his hand through his hair and sighed, shaking his head with a lopsided smile, and knocked quietly, before entering. "Lilo," he called quietly, "Are you ready?"

Lilo heard the knock and trotted over. Her purse was slung over one shoulder, and she held a finger to her lips . "Daddy's sleeping." Her smile betrayed her pleasure at seeing him, and she shook her head. "Thank God you're the right age. I don't know what I'd do if everyone was messed up." She shook her head and exited out of the front door, locking it behind her. "Did you have a place in mind?" It was a little chilly outside, and she folded her arms not out of annoyance, but out of a desire to stay warm.

Pouting slightly at the lack of a coat for Lilo to wear, Teja pulled his own off and draped it over her shoulders. "Well, I was thinking of a place that's local to here, but now that I see you're not as lucky as I am to have idiots at your beck and call, I think we're going to go shopping for a coat first, and then get coffee." He smiled slightly, guiding her towards the closest portkey at a normal pace. "You wouldn't believe the shit I've done tonight. First I had to make sure Robyn, of all people, was safe from getting beaten to death at the hands of her own damn brigade, then I had to lure a tiny Miniver out of Pickles' room by bribing him with marshmallows. Oh. And Pickles is kind of scary when he's young. Just an FYI."

He shook his head, still partially smiling fondly at the thought of a tiny Miniver with wide, blue eyes at the sight of a Real Knight in Real Armor.

"I'm fine, really, as long as we don't walk too much." She shrugged. "If we're inside, it's fine. And the coffee will help. Really, don't worry about it." She smiled and ducked her head slightly so he wouldn't see. She looked up at him and raised an eyebrow. "Miniver's tiny?" Her eyes widened and she chewed her lip thoughtfully. "Maybe I can sneak him some real food. He's too skinny when he's bit, I can't imagine him as a kid. And I'll be sure not to slap Pickles too hard."

Teja smiling made her happy, and she leaned against him. "What?"

"No, you're getting a coat, because you'll need one. You know how everything either lasts a week, or a month in this place. You're going to be stuck here, you might as well have clothes." He wouldn't budge from that position, at least for the sake that he didn't want to have anyone mad at him for taking ill care of her. Especially Cassidy. He'd spent years towing the line with his nephew, trying to get back whatever trust he could, that he didn't want word to come back to the guy that he let Lilo even so much as go cold.

"Seriously small. He can't be more than eight right now. He was a mess. His clothes were threadbare, and too big, and he looked like he hadn't had a bath in a couple weeks. Really pathetic looking. I brought him to Aunt Lulu, she'll take good care of him. First thing she did was feed us both. And you know how I am around kids. Especially family." He put his arm around her shoulder and squeezed lightly. She was one of the very few exceptions that could get into his personal space and not be glared at, even to that day. He never really liked people near him, even as he grew out of his anger, fear and paranoia.

"Fine," Lilo said, pretending to pout. It was mostly just pretend because she was so incredibly flattered to have Teja worrying about her. "Though I could've dressed more for the season and not stolen Mom's summer things." She chuckled and all but skipped in her heels, something she'd learned to do from various women in her family.

Pulling his jacket closer around her shoulders, she smiled at Teja. The story he told was terrible - she hated thinking of Miniver as a skinny, malnourished, ill taken care of boy, but she liked Teja being so tender. It was a side he rarely showed to anyone. "That was smart," she murmured, moving to rest her head on his shoulder.

He nodded, going serious for a moment, "I hate it when I see kids like that, though. It's like he was utterly unloved. He put up a brave front - I'll give him that - but the poor little guy was so skittish. I can see why your dad calls him Mouse. It's sad, it's really sad. I wish I could beat the shit out of his mom for being such a cunt. Get him a proper family that could take care of him or something. Well, He'll be safe now, at least for a week. That's as much as I can do." He sighed heavily and shook his head as they rounded a corner and stepped up to the portkey.

"It's about time for the outerwear stores in Atlantis to be open, they should have some coats there. And I know a place there that has coffee."

"He ends up okay. It could be worse, and I'm not saying I'd find it any easier, and I'm not saying that we shouldn't kick his mother's ass, but there's a tiny bit of consolation in that he ends up with a family eventually." She slipped her arm through his as they approached the portkey.

She tiptoed up once he'd stopped and kissed him on the corner of his cheek. It was impulsive, and probably stupid, but he was being sweet and kind and just flat-out good to Miniver and her. It was impossible to resist. "That sounds nice. I haven't been to Atlantis in a while."

Blinking at the kiss, he smiled slightly. "You didn't have to kiss me, I'm just looking out for family, like I always have." He pulled her just a tiny bit closer and tapped the portkey with his foot, before they wound up in a city on the large island nation. "At least it's a little bit warmer here," muttered Teja, kissing her cheek in retaliation. "I'm glad you're the right age too, Pelekai. You've saved me from a lot of bullshit. God, I don't even want to know what happened to everyone else we know. If Mordhaus is this bad, just imagine the wolfpack, or worse yet, Robbie's family. Do you know if Torii's still all bitty? I suppose not, she sleeps like a rock. Hm."

He led her to a store that had indeed, just opened for business. It was a store geared towards mountain climbers and other outdoor sports types.

She didn't have time to react to what he'd said because he'd tapped the portkey too soon, and they were suddenly standing on Atlantis. She was looking around when she felt his lips on her cheek. She felt her cheeks flush hot for a moment before she simply reacted, socking him lightly on the arm. "I kissed you because I wanted to and you can't stop me." She took a couple of steps ahead of him, blinking and laughing. "I don't want to think about them yet. I'm going to wait this out like everything else that happens. It's bound to be temporary, right?"

Walking into the store he had led her to, she glanced around. She'd always had a really good idea of what she liked and what she wanted, and she went instantly toward a pair of cropped parkas. Taking one off of the rack in red, she tried it on and then took it to the counter to pay. She hated browsing.

He smirked at her halfhearted punch to his arm and shook his head, "You hit like a girl, Pelekai." He murmured. Once in the store, Teja was happy to be in and out as soon as possible, and took his coat back once she returned to his side. He stood at the door the entire time, actually. "Coffee place is just around the corner." He led her there next, and looked at her, a serious tone coming over his face. "I'm buying this time." He thought about it for a moment and couldn't recall the last time he'd taken anyone out for coffee. The fact that Lilo was acting rather flirtatious - even for her - was throwing off his usual balance, as well. He chalked it all up to the current crazy situation, and walked inside, and up to the counter.

"Only because I don't want to hurt you, Wartooth." She said his name rather teasingly before drifting off to pay for her jacket. With that done, she burrowed into the down, not really realizing that her favorite color matched his hair. She'd liked red even before she'd been vortexed, and figured maybe that was why she'd first liked Teja at all as a kid.

She took his arm again even though she didn't really need to, squeezing lightly. "You can if you want to, but you don't have to." She still felt a little blushy, and socked him in the arm harder before walking inside to queue up. He wasn't supposed to kiss her back. Teja didn't kiss people. It was confusing her, and she folded her arms over her chest, oddly confused at why she was irritated that she'd gotten what she wanted, sort of.

The second hit to his arm, in the same place, got Teja to chuckle, "That was better, princess, but you'll have to try harder. That arm's my fourth, I'm pretty calloused." He ordered a black coffee for himself and let her order, before paying and standing near the order-up area. "Why the hell are you blushing? It's not like you've never had a kiss on the cheek before. Weirdo. I've kissed you on the cheek since you were six and you have never once blushed. Are you alright? Did you hit your head when your bed broke under your weight?"

"Don't call me Princess, Red." She stuck out her tongue and ordered a coffee with four creams and four sugars. Her childhood sweettooth had never quite gone away, no matter how many healthy foods Brenda Annn had given her. Standing next to him in the area to pick up, she put her hands on her hips. "Yes, Teja. I hit my head and now I'm suffering a horrible intra-cranial bleed which is putting all sorts of pressure on my brain and that's why you look really cute right now. It's really all because that bed's a piece of crap. Stupid... furniture."

"Don't call me Red, girlie girl." Retorted the man whose hair was as red as red could be without falling off into a different wavelength. "Seems reasonable, but that doesn't explain the fact why I couldn't stop staring at one of your icons earlier. When did you grow up, and start looking pretty, huh?" He stuck out his tongue in a very mature fashion, and held out her coffee. "Go pick out a table, Pelekai."

"Don't call me girlie girl, mister man." She tossed her hair and was about to say more when he mentioned that she was pretty. Unable to say anything but stupid stammering, she held her head up high and walked to a table - sure to pivot her hips a little more than usual. After sitting down, she crossed her legs and took the lid off her coffee. Blowing on it carefully, she looked up at him. "I don't even know what you're talking about, I've had tits for years now. Idiot."

"And for the past four years I've been working behind a desk with only a month off a year to spend with family. How was I supposed to know?" Teja sat down across from her, taking off the lid of his own coffee to let it cool. "Anyway, I don't spend time looking at my sisters' kids like that. That would be creepy, and I try to stay away from being a creep these days." He leaned back in his chair and looked at the bland and overly-cliche coffeehouse art that was on the wall nearby. "Moron," Teja added, simply because she called him an idiot.

And therein lay another one of the problems. It was only marginally creepy that she had a crush on someone that was technically her uncle. It was very weird that she'd had it for years. Though she mumbled to herself as she drank her coffee the way she'd managed to keep it not creepy in her head: "Not by blood, Tej."

She dropped it as soon as she'd started to mention anything, choosing not to tell him that he was cute, that his scars made her all wiggly, that she'd always wished he'd worked less. "Dumbass," she mumbled, sipping her coffee. It was just sweet enough, and she took off her jacket as the coffee warmed her. "Sorry. Forget I said anything. Brain damage, remember? I'll undergo surgery, remove the clot."

"Not by blood, no, but still. You're Brenda's daughter, it's weird for me to tell you that you've got really pretty eyes and a nice rack. Even if you do." He smirked at the second, however, and shrugged, "Fine, get that fixed, but I still don't know why I'm being a creepy perv over you. That's just fucking weird of me." Finally taking a sip of his coffee, he continued not to look directly at her. He honestly didn't know why he even brought it up in the first place. Maybe it was sleep deprivation, or the time warp or both.

Maybe it was because she simply was gorgeous and he wasn't mentally above ogling hot chicks, regardless of what kind of relative they were. He didn't find his sisters hot, or his nephew, or Glyndaa's kids hot, or any of the spawn that the wolfpack produced. But the fact that she really wasn't related to him, and never really had been did stick out in his mind. She was a stray that became permanent in the Brennan household. Like the young Skwisgaar, or that weird Liam guy.

Lilo had been about to fold her arms when he mentioned her rack. Looking down at her chest, she poked her breasts with her forefinger. "What, these? Honestly, they're annoying. Though they do make me float a little better. I'm pretty sure they shave seconds off of my surface time." She shook her head and realized that she was poking her breasts while wearing a low-cut top in front of a cute guy.

He was looking down and feeling sort of awkward, so she scooted her chair over a little closer, swinging her legs up onto his lap and swinging her heels off of the tips of her toes. It was a gesture meant to be friendly, with less awkward to it. She did it to Cass and Soren all the time.

Which put into perspective Lilo's nice, shapely legs. Clearing his throat, Teja smiled slightly. "Are you trying to get me to blush? I can tell you that I don't turn the color of my hair, before you even ask. And I don't blush." He was, however, mumbling. He took another sip of his drink and looked over at Lilo with a raise of his brow. "You can't be serious, though. You're a solid 10, I'm a seven. It would be unfair to the guys who are nines."

She took another sip of her coffee and tried not to choke. "Teja, I do this to everyone. I'm sorry." She swung her legs back down, slipping her heels off and then crossing her legs under the table. "And shut up. You've always been really, really hot."

Oh, hey, that was pretty much what she'd been trying to avoid talking about. She drank more coffee, hoping that he wouldn't try to pump her for too much information while she was drinking.

"Hell no, Pelekai. I think that blood clot's affecting your sight, too." Teja almost sincerely pouted when she removed her legs. "I'm really not on the market, though, anyway. I haven't dated since I was seventeen. I just don't think I'm really very trustworthy at this point. I went purely straightedge about then, and I only recently reintroduced caffeine into my system, and I'm no good at parties. I don't dance. I hate theaters, I hate going to restaurants for more than fifteen minutes at a time, and I really don't do the whole 'cuddling' thing." Trying to find more reasons why he was absolutely, unquestionably undatable, he tried for, "And I sword fight as a hobby. That usually kills people. You wouldn't want to date a killer, would you?"

"I've thought that for years, it's not a recent thing. Unless I've had a clot for a while. But I don't think that's possible, because I'd have felt the effects by now."

Listening to him, she sat up a little, leaning in. She'd made a mental tally of his points, and ticked off her rebuttals on her fingers as she made them. "I've had three boyfriends in my entire life, most of which lasted a couple of months. Don't care. I don't drink or smoke and I can take or leave coffee, and I don't care what you do with your time as far as drugs go because I don't do them either. Parties are stupid. You don't have to dance with me. Movies are best rented because then you can make fun of them, ordering in is food, and you don't mind it when I touch you so maybe I don't count. And sword fighting doesn't count since you both know that's a possible outcome."

She got her breath after her massive rant, shrugged, and leaned forward to kiss him. She could always chalk it up to the time warp, the blood clot, wanting to see what the black coffee tasted like. Anything.

Black coffee tasted bitter. And Teja fairly much flailed at the kiss, at first. He sat still as could be after a moment and slowly, tentatively eased into it, just a little. He had kissed plenty of girls since dating Robyn, and all of them were nice enough - too nice, sometimes - but none of them smelled or looked quite as good as Lilo.

It was about that moment that he sat back and his eyes went wide. He was kissing Lilo. "Sorry, I can't do this, If your brother found out, he'd probably shoot me. And I really don't want okasan to have to go through two weeks of hell at my expense." He took a long drink of his coffee and looked away.

Lilo actually quite liked the bitterness when it was on Teja. Just as she was smiling and leaning into it, she felt him pull away. Blinking, she opened her eyes and saw him looking disturbed and shying away.

She sat back in her own seat and sighed. "If Cass shot you, I'd beat the crap out of him. Really, permanent paralysis. I can make my own choices. I'm bigger than he is, and I'm older. I know better." She folded her arms and took a sip of her own coffee. She was pretty sure that the reason was that Teja just didn't want to. Which was what she'd suspected. "I'm glad that Daddy's handling things all right," she murmured. Quick subject changes were not her forte and tended to end up being painfully obvious.

He was conflicted. On one hand, he really enjoyed Lilo's company, her attitude and banter, her easy way of being brutally honest and extreme, her looks, everything. On the other, the whole family would start hating him for even more reasons. Lilo was everyone's favorite. Lilo was the sister of someone who had long wanted to find a single flaw in Teja's new character.

Teja suddenly decided that he didn't give a shit what other people thought, and waited until she set her coffee down before leaning in for another kiss. It wasn't like he was going to let everyone else dictate his life, when he spent years working on carving out his life on his own, with nobody's help. She was attractive, single, and here. Fuck what anyone else thought. It probably wouldn't matter in a week, anyway.

She'd been about to go up to the counter when she put her coffee down. Then she felt Teja moving closer and looked over at him out of the corner of her eye.

Oh. He was kissing her again. She blinked and wondered what had brought that up before wrapping her arms around him and pulling him closer. Whatever had brought it up was working in her favor, so she decided not to care. Her fingers ran through his hair, smiling when she felt how soft it was. Once they'd broken the kiss to breathe, she looked down, somewhat sheepish. "Cass knows I like you."

"And he probably wants to kick my ass over it already. Let him try. He knows I sleep with weapons hidden." His voice was pitched just slightly lower than usual, in almost a secretive whisper. "So what do we do about this new-found mutual attraction? I can't say I'm particularly interested in sex, though I know I should be, look at you." He smirked, "And I can't believe you had only three boyfriends. What, did your brother sleep with all of them before you could get to any of them?"

"He's not totally happy with it, no." Which was an understatement, but she didn't want to say so. His voice was setting the tiny hairs on the back of her neck on end, and she moved closer. "I don't know, Tej. What do you want to do? I haven't really done the sex thing too often anyway, so don't worry about it if you don't want it at first. I've been getting myself off this long, I can live a lot longer." She grinned and tapped her forehead. "You know, provided I don't die from this clot."

She looked at her coffee, shrugging. "Ew, I don't want Cass' seconds. No, most of them were boys I've beaten at competition. And honestly, they don't last because they're boring, then I get sick of trying. I just don't see the point of all the romantic gestures at first. Eventually, if you stay with someone for a long time, it all ends up with the girl not wearing makeup and the guy farting and playing video games and just sort of ... normal. My mom and dad were like that. ... before I was brought here. They were the most in love people I've ever seen. And it wasn't forced or fake or stupid."

Relaxing at that, he smirked, "The closest thing I get to romance is probably shoving a guy around if he starts hitting on the chick I'm hitting on. You're pretty safe with me." He sat back down properly and straightened his shirt with a once-over run with the flat of his hand. "So hell. Let's go play some video games. Unless you're tired, of course. Then you should probably go home, burn off the caffeine and take a nap. I know I've been up for about three days now, myself. I really don't need much sleep. I asked for that for one of my birthdays from mom." He shrugged one shoulder and grabbed the jacket off the back of his chair. "I'd suggest Mordhaus, but the main room's probably still got a freaky clown chick that my ex once was in it, and all over pandemonium.

"I'd say we could go back to my place, but we'd have to go to the basement. I hope you don't mind. I just don't want to wake Daddy up. I'm not tired." She stretched her arms over her head and stood up, chugging the rest of her coffee.

Tugging lightly on his arm, she grinned. "Come on, let's go! You never know, my clot could get worse, I might need you to carry me."

"Nah, she's as used to all of this as I am, I think. She's pretty easygoing. I'm more afraid of what Torii will do. She's probably going to spaz." Holding her hand felt simple and contenting. Somewhere in the back of Teja's mind, he was still debating with himself on whether or not this was a particularly good plan of action. Mostly, however, he figured the one week trial run was good enough for him. He walked to the portkey and put his hand upon it, before they were back at the walkway up to Teague and Brenda's house.

"I think I could get comfortable with this." He said to Lilo, squeezing her hand before letting it go so she could unlock the door.

"Oh, I didn't even think of that. Poor thing." Lilo ran her fingers through her hair to give her free hand something to do. She was happy to be holding Teja's hand, to be sure, but nervous as well. She squeezed lightly as they reached the portkey, smiling when it was returned as they approached her house.

Before unlocking the door, she slipped her heels back off so the tapping wouldn't wake anyone. She unlocked it quickly, locking back up once Teja was inside, and made her way down into the basement. It was very much as she remembered it from childhood, and she shook her head and grinned. "This is so ... it's kind of nice, really."

"It's a lot smaller now," chuckled Teja as he followed Lilo down, having to duck as he entered the basement. "Wow, the old couch," He almost laughed as he sat down on it, "It'll be another couple years until they replace it. This is great. I'm surprised by everything now. With all the weirdness aside, it's great to come home to something almost memorable." He looked over at Lilo with a tilt of his head. "You pick the game, I honestly don't know if I'm any good at any of these anymore."

"It is." She was glad she'd taken off her heels or she would have had to duck as well. Shutting the door behind them, she joined him on the couch. "Exactly. At least we're not on Mars or in another world entirely."

She stretched out again, swinging her legs into his lap once more. "We don't have to play right now. We can get comfortable for a while, right?"
