Sookie Stackhouse is a freakin' fairy ([info]dangerwhore) wrote in [info]utr_logs,

Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:presto (dungeons and dragons), sookie stackhouse

Who: Sookie and Presto
What: Comfort, food, and likely no small amount of cynicism
When/Where: Backdated to last night, Sookie's house in Southern Louisiana
Warnings: Cuteness? I'm not sure.

Sookie was currently curled up in a ball on her couch, bag of M&Ms in hand, staring through the television which was currently playing some old movie she didn't even know. She hadn't moved for most of the day, her clothes didn't match, her hair was unwashed- it was the definition of 'wallowing', but she couldn't help it. First her grandma, before coming to this place, and now her best friend. It was... almost too much.

But Presto was coming over. And he offered to bring her food. Suddenly realizing she looked like Hell, she sat up, running a hand through her hair to try and pull it back, at least. It wasn't like she thought he expected much, but it was human decency, to not want to look like death warmed over.

And at least she'd be up, when the doorbell rang.

"No, Presto, don'... I appreciate that. This. You, bein' here. An' I need t'stop... mopin'. I was alright 'thout her before. I jus'..." She shook her head. "Guess I was better off thinkin' it wasn't so easy t'lose people here. Done too much'a that, in my life." Sookie was at least trying to talk about it, let the words keep her from continuing to cry. And somehow, just being around Presto was helping her calm down. She needed to eb clam, to keep from scaring him away.

He nodded slowly.

"I do not think it is moping, really. Mourning for someone, well, you have a right to hurt, you know? I was taught that you had to give yourself time, to let what your heart and mind thought get together."

He smiled a little, gently touching her shoulder.

"I am afraid I don't know much comfort. Everywhere I have ever been, it is easy to lose people. Home, the Realm, here..."

He shook his head.

"All I know is... we have to stick together, even if we don't know each other. We were all slung here for God knows why, and we have to not be afraid to try to be us."

She didn't have anything to say to that, simply nodding- gosh, he was really sweet, and here she was bawling at him. Thankfully, the whistle of the teakettle gave her a distraction, as she picked up some of the mint tea and started to steep it.

((ooc: IJ ate this notif! ILU, Sam, I'm sorry.))

He smiled a little, watching.

"What do you do when you are sad? To get through things?"

She turned back to look at him, then, seeming to have to think about what to say. "Honest? I used to watch old movies with Tara, or my gran. Nice ol' black-and-white movies where everything turs out alright in the end. S'nice, to just forget about the bad for a little while. Take a break from bein' sad. Always helped me see things better."

He bit his lip, then nodded.

"Would you like to do that tonight? Hot drinks and a movie or three, just you and me?"

He smiled sadly.

"I know I am not your friend, but I give good hugs, and like old movies."

She did manage a smile to match his, as she brought the tea over to the table, setting it on the hot pad so she could move to get cups.

"You're not Tara, but you are my friend, Presto. And I would like that, if you can stand me that long," She set one cup in front of him, then one in the chair next to his, taking the liberty of pouring both.

He blushed, then smiled as he settled better next to her, and nodded.

"I'd be glad to, then. Where do I find the movies and what do you want to see first?"

Sookie considered offering to get it, before realizing she should just let him dote. They would both feel better for it.

"S'under the TV, with the player. I think Breakfast At Tiffany's is under there. F'you don't mind?"

He smiled and nodded.

"Not at all. Never seen it."

He found the player and started it up, and found the DVD, slipping it into the player before retreating to her side with the remote, to watch for the start screen. He settled next to her and smiled.

His smile was infectious, leaving her her smiling again as she heard the music start. It wasn't long, between the tea and the movie, that she started to calm down. Scooting a bit closer, she leaned to let her head rest on his shoulder, sighing lightly. The smile on her face was soft, a hint of sadness to it, but more content than when they'd met that day. It was progress, at least.

He let his arm rest around her, just comforting, even if he thought she was gorgeous. He hugged her, and stroked her hair, wanting her to feel relaxed.

"I like the movie."

His voice was soft as he spoke, and he smiled gently as he glanced at her.

Sookie nodded, moving when his arm moved to settle a little closer. She was definately more realxed, the simple touch something she had grown to crave.

"Thanks. Gran wanted t'be Holly, when she was younger. Used t'watch it all the time." She smiled to him when she caught his eyes, before turning back to the movie, repressing an impulse to lean up and peck his cheek. She didn't want him to think she was... using him.

Even if she sort of was, she realized.

He was enjoying being close to her and he smiled a lot.

"You're a pretty nifty person, and you have lived with so much interesting things."

The statement made her laugh a little, a mixture of confusion and self-consciousness. "I dunno about that. I mean, s'not... Bon Temps wasn't exactly an excitin' place. Especially compared with dragons an' quests an' things.

"I think you're the nifty one," She gave him a light poke in his side, trying to smile to hide the faint pink to her cheeks.

"I spent years in monsters and quests and all kinds of dangers and you know what I missed? Kind, friendly, nice people. Friends, and people I could know, and people who I wasn't rescuing all the time, or fighting."

He blushed.

"You are a nice person."

His blush pretty much sealed it, as Sookie tilted her head up to press a little kiss to his cheek. "You're awful nice yourself, Presto. This is... I needed this. Thank you,"
