Entry tags:ageless bill turner, navi

Who: Navi and Bill Turner.
What: Heart to hearts!
When: Tuesday night.
Where: Navi's flat.
Warnings: Yup.

She wasn't completely drunk yet; she managed to fly in a nearly straight line toward the kitchen per Bill's instructions. She made herself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, leaving the dirty knife in the sink as an act of defiance. She was munching it and sharing the crusts with Turbo on the floor of the kitchen when she heard a knock at the door. "S'open!"

Bill stepped in quickly enough and tutted. He wasn't even halfway into the kitchen before he smelled the alcohol on her breath, working through her body and out her skin. He cursed his senses and huffed a sigh, "'Least you've taken my suggestion of food. C'mon, luv, into th'livin' room with you." He offered his arm, as well as a travel mug of coffee he'd picked up on his way.

She tucked her ferret into her shirt before fluttering upward and taking his arm. He was reassuringly solid, and she hadn't really noticed how unsteady she was until she leaned against something that was solid. She moved her sandwich to one hand, taking the coffee from him with the other. "Mmmph. 'kay. If you say so. I don't see why I shouldn't use it if it's here."

"Won't be when I leave with it. You're not a pirate, you're a fairy, and a teacher to small tots, and as such, you should act appropriately. Drinkin' yourself into a stupor is no way to be a good role model. An' furthermore, when a bloody pirate's tellin' you to put down th'drink, you'd better take his advice." He led her to the couch and sat her down slowly and easily before sitting beside her. "Now tell me what's wrong with you an' Alec, pretty?"

She sighed, sounding more than a little like the kindergartners she taught. Navi knew he was right, but knowing and admitting his point were two different things. Once she was seated on the couch she pulled her knees to her chest, resting her chin on them. "Everything." It was the only way she knew to answer, and she offered him her left hand as a point of evidence. Her ring finger was bare.

He sighed (mostly to prove a point of emotion), and took her hand, shaking his head slowly, giving her ring finger a soft, chilled kiss. "Navi, luv. Tell me, do you think that this is worth punishin' y'self over? S'not your fault, pet. You're a lovely, bright, shining young lady, an' he didn't treat you right. Why beat y'self up?" He put his hand on Navi's back, between her shoulderblades, just to let her know he was there.

She never expected him to be cool, so it surprised her when his lips brushed over her skin. Navi smiled weakly and shook her head. "I - he's upset, and I'm do used to taking care of him." She had set her coffee down and moved closer to him, resting her head on his shoulder. "I'm used to looking after him. But... should've expected this. Left Link once. Maybe it's what I do. Fix people and go."

"Maybe it's time you find someone who you don't have to fix, who can maybe fix you, Navi." His voice was soft and gentle. "Or someone who doesn't want to fix you or need you to fix them, that both of you can just love each other for what th'two of you already are." He rubbed her back lightly and motioned to the sandwich. "Keep eatin', luv."

"Link just needed me for his quest," she murmured, smiling a little. "But we're still friends. Even though I broke his heart. Maybe Alec'll forgive me too." She took her sandwich, giggling when Turbo's head emerged from her shirt to steal bites. She didn't much mind. "And I don't think so. I'm - done now, really. I don't want to try anymore."

Bill's headshake was really all that was needed for that. He was disappointed. Not in her, really, so much as he was in Alec letting the poor fairy down. "Don't give up, luv. Never give up. You're new here, aye? An' although he was a good lay, that don't particularly make him worth givin' up over." He shook his head, "Had I given up, I wouldn't be where I am, today. If you give up now, you don't know what you'd miss out on. An' I know you, Navi. You're as much a soul of adventure as I am." His fingers went into her hair, combing it back from her face. "You're a good little fairybug, Navi. Don't sell y'self short."

"Not that new," she mumbled. She took Turbo out of her shirt and let him scamper off, secure in the knowledge that she'd all but ferretproofed her home. She nodded a little at what he said, blushing hard when he mentioned sex. It was a weird irony; she was (what she assumed) sexually liberal when it came to Alec, but she hadn't really discussed it with anyone but him.

When he touched her hair she closed her eyes and smiled. "Thanks. Don't feel it. I feel like I let everyone down."

Bill just understood the way things worked. It was years of people watching that let him in on the more secret dynamics of relationships. "Oh, Navi," He intoned sympathetically, taking her hand. "You've let nobody down. You've done everything good for everyone you know. When you're this down, it's like seein' th'stars blotted out by th'clouds. I could only wish to make th'clouds dissipate soon, and show the shimmering beauty that you possess once more." He grinned. "An' I'm certain that I'm not th'only one who feels that way."

She moved a little closer, burrowing slightly. "I try to. Don't know if I have, but I try." She chuckled when he talked, always amused at how dashing and ... well, pirate like he was in every possible way. Normally it would have cheered her more, but she sighed and shrugged. "I know a few people who want to do something with me, but help me cheer up, not so much. ... that was innuendo."

"What would cheer you up, then?" He asked, letting her burrow as he put his arm around her, comforting her and keeping her close. "I can't promise I'm much fun, or much in th'way of cheerfulness, but I can't see you so sad." He cared for his friends, each and every one, and seeing any of them so distraught as Navi was right now made Bill wish he had the ability to just wish everything right.

"That's the thing, I don't know. I wish I did. I don't like being sad. I don't want it. I just... I want to stop being so sad. I don't even want to forget him - I'd miss my memories - I just want to be past things." She wrapped her arms around Bill in a hug, and blinked when she found him refreshingly cool. It was novel. "You would've been great when I had mono, you know."

He chuckled softly, "I've been used as a cold compress once, aye. Though I wasn't as good as a good, old fashioned cool, damp towel." He pet through her hair again, shaking his head with a small, slight smile. "We could do somethin' to take y'mind off things. Play a board game, watch a movie. I could take you dancin', you could take me flyin', s'all up to you, really."

"Don't think I could carry you to go flying, and I'm not a good dancer. And if you want to put a movie on, that's fine. I think I'll just keep my forehead here on your neck if that's okay." She smiled a little and grinned. "Did you know that apparently my blood makes you go crazy? I read that somewhere!"

Bill patted her on the head, "Fairy blood's frighteningly potent. But fairies are so small, generally, that you'd need a full grip of 'em to make a full meal. They also taste like clover." He nudged her. "Pick a movie, then, we'll watch it and keep each other company. Jack doesn't expect me back for a while. He's got Miniver there f'company." He didn't want to let on that he understood she was trying to be sly.

Navi rolled her eyes and gently rapped her knuckles on Bill's forehead. "I'm not small. But if you insist. Do you like Bruce Lee movies?" She fluttered over to the DVD player and put in "Way of the Dragon". She set it to start before fluttering back over to Turbo (who had fallen asleep in a pile of dirty laundry), setting him in his cage. Returning to the couch she plopped onto Bill's lap, settling comfortably.

"You're not, no, but you're daft if you think I'll take you up on that offer right now. Y'drunk." He watched as she flitted from one thing to the next, rather amused by her trail of sparkles before she returned. His arms returned around her and chuckled softly, "Haven't seen this movie f'a while. Never would've pegged you f'a kung fu movie buff."

"And if my blood alcohol content settles eventually - because yes, I'm a fairy, but I'm a human too, sort of, you'd just get a bit drunk as well. Which isn't bad. I wouldn't take advantage of you or anything." Her giggle afterward didn't entirely lend that statement any support.

When she felt him wrap his arms around her, she leaned back. "Well, when I was with Link, my job was to point out weaknesses in the enemy. I don't know, I've always been around fighting. This isn't really fighting, it's like a dance. It's pretty."

Bill tutted, "Navi, if you need a rebound, you'll have t'do better than me. I insist." His smile was one that was entirely lopsided when he said it, but when she explained why action films, he nodded, "Ah. See, I'd have thought you'd be utterly bored by it in that case. I never liked Errol Flynn. Th'man made us all look like ninnies. Though, he had a nice ass." His head tilted slightly as he fondly recalled said anatomy.

Navi just grinned. "One? Already had one. Two? You like boys, I'm having fun though if it went somewhere, yay. ... though you and Jack still owe me snoggings. And three, I agree with you on all counts regarding that silly not-pirate." She wiggled her hips just to tease him and continued watching the movie. She was starting to feel less head-swimmy; the food had helped.

Bill smirked, "I was married to a woman before I even became undead, hence havin' descendants, and I've been with far more women than you could probably count, dear. I like them just as well." He shrugged and stretched out to accommodate Navi on his lap more efficiently, as he idly let the screen occupy his sight. His hands stayed still, and his arms stayed around her waist. "Just so you know that and don't think that just because I've married th'dear captain and love him with all my heart an' soul, I don't find women attractive."

He then got the sudden urge to tickle her, so he did.

"You could always like boys better. It could be a sixty-forty ratio or something, and since you're all... you know, you, you could just be able to get way more of bo - ACK!" When he started to tickle her, she squealed loudly and flailed, trying hard to stay on his lap. "Stop!" She was shrieking and giggling, and didn't really mean it.

Bill let out a victorious laugh and bellowed, "Never!" in his low, gritty voice, continuing to tickle her until she was off his lap and laying on the couch, pinned between the back cushions, the seat cushions, and the arm. It was only after a few more seconds that he relented and stuck out his tongue. "Argue my sexuality again, and I'll make you wet yourself, fairiebug." He didn't mean it at all, obviously, but at least he got her to smile and laugh.
