Who: Desire, Delirium, Death.
What: The Endless mortals get together for a pity party and possibly some pancakes. HA ALLITERATION.
When: Late afternoon.

Desire was six kinds of uncomfortable. It--currently a him, in this mortal form--was sitting on the steps of Harrod's, where he knew Delirium would be at some point or another. His head was resting against the wall of the entrance alcove as he stared at the people walking by, waiting for one or the other of his sisters.

God, how embarrassing. Delirium was a cheap facsimile of him, he couldn't get into the Threshold, and he felt all around...ugly. In reality he wasn't any less beautiful than usual, but anyone who knew him would be able to tell the difference right away. His cheeks were flushed, for one, his skin a healthy, normal (disgusting) sort of pink. And he looked all around vulnerable, strange and fragile instead of strong and composed. He was miserable. People were walking by him without so much as a second glance. He wanted to go home. And he was cold. Cold! Of all the indignities that could have been visited on him, this was by far the worst.

The sound of a lighter flicking was the first indication that there was another presence in the alcove, quickly followed by a clearing of a throat.

Delirium stood a short distance away from her- well, his, for now- his brother-sister, dressed as one would expect a rich diplomat to dress; Armani suit, Italian leather shoes, topped off with a sweeping fur coat, gleaming black and utterly flawless. A similar jacket was thrust in Desire's direction, as Delirium took a puff off of her-his cigarette, idly blowing a smoke ring.

"I figured it was much too large a blow to your pride to purchase one yourself. 'Rather freeze to Death than accept this."

Death had watched for a moment before taking a step closer to her siblings. She was the only one of the three who felt normal. She was still Endless, still her cheerful self. She gave her siblings warm smiles.

"You're both looking," mortal, "very spiffy. Nice coats." Death was wearing a coat, herself, but it was more for show than need.

"Hello, sister." He took the jacket and wrapped it around himself, careful not to rush so it didn't seem as though he was desperate for the added warmth. Because he wasn't. No, not at all. But it was simply impolite to turn down a gift like that, so he'd take it anyway. "Thank you," he said, glancing back out onto the street. Why was it so much harder to hide things, now? He knew some genuine gratitude had come out in his voice, and he hadn't intended for that at all.

Desire was glad for Death's arrival and smiled faintly when she walked up. "Del picked them out," he said, unable to keep the wry amusement out of his tone, and not much caring, not about that. The fact that Del had picked up his style of dress was kind of funny, actually.

"Thank you, Sister. Better than running around naked and freezing, especially in this.." Del glanced down, as he purposefully shifted his legs again, "Body."

Taking another puff from the cigarette, glad for the added warmth on his breath, more than the taste, he glanced around. "You know, I've never really cared for Mondays." He said idly, still not entirely focused, even through the guise of Desire's persona.

This was strange. Death was the only member of the family who was ever supposed to be mortal. Though mortality probably would do some good for Desire and Delirium. "Del has good taste," she commented to Desire cheerfully. To Delirium, she said, "I don't mind Mondays so much." She was used to playing the mediator in the family and as such was good at remaining cheerful in the middle of a stressful situation.

"So, are you hungry?"

Desire paused while he lit up his own cigarette. Maybe that would help with the whole...cold...thing. "A little," he said, perhaps a bit cautiously. He couldn't remember the last time he had wanted something so badly that it qualified in the category of need. The idea that his own principle was now working against him on the subject of food was irritating, to say the least, but it didn't change the fact that he was actually very hungry.

Glancing over at Desire, Delirium sighed a little sigh, eyes rolling slightly. "Yes. We should go eat. I don't understand why they insist on putting us in these things, while they're empty." 'These things', of course, being mortal bodies. His Sister was still very much herself, an idea that nagged the edge of Delirium's consciousness; there hadn't been a danger of Death, before, but now, the presence of his sister had Delirium slightly on edge. Death, as far as the act was concerned, wasn't a pleasant one.

Death picked up on the slightest of prickles from Delirium's direction. It made sense. Mortals tended to either be drawn to her or fear her. She didn't let it bother her.

"Let's go, then." Death offered her siblings her hands. She stood between them. "I know a great waffle place not far from here."

Desire stood, silently happy to get off the cold steps, and put his hands in the pocket of his coat. "Lead the way," he said, glancing over at Death.

There was nothing he could do about this situation--decidedly irritating. But it didn't mean he wasn't trying to come up with some kind of a solution. "Heard any news from our brother yet?" he asked, looking over at Death.
