It was a fairly typical evening for the Turner-Brennan household, really, Torii was keeping the baby entertained by way of a puppet-and-stuffed-animal show rendition of Twelfth Night while Brenda made sourdough pizza crusts for dinner.

"Tell him he shall not speak with me!" Said the squeaky-voiced stuffed turtle that was playing Olivia, followed by a rougher, "Has been told so and he says he'll stand at your
door like a sheriff's post, and be the supporter to a bench, but he'll speak with you." from the paisley dog that was playing Malvolio.

In walked a rather chipper redhead. "What kind of man is he?" Asked Teja in a feminine voice, having brought a few books from the Mordhaus library as well as baking supplies in a paper sack for his eldest sister, setting them both down on the table between the kitchen and living room. He sat down beside Torii and the baby, giving his youngest older sister a soothing stroke on her back. He wasn't about to interrupt the play, just add to it.

	Torii grinned, handing him the turtle and bobbing the dog's head as he answered: "Why... of mankind." Cass, for his part, was propped up on pillows next to the couch, looking both fascinated and puzzled by this, sucking on his knuckles (Reply to this)

	He accepted the fingerpuppet, putting it on and asking, "What manner of man?" In the lilting voice he used before. "And honestly, Torii, a turtle?" He crossed his legs as he sat, and the look of joy in his eyes superseded all manner of stoicism that showed on the rest of his face. Something good had happened. (Reply to this)

	Torii shrugged, "It was kind of all that was left, except for the creepy daisy thing, and he doesn't really like that one." The dog was handed over to the baby then, who grinned and made a sound of sheer glee, causing Torii to smile, reaching over to pet his hair, "Dork." (Reply to this)

	Teja handed over the turtle as well and held his sister's hands. "I had a wonderful lunch. I met with Charles, Sadako and 359 and I have a choice of jobs. I could work with the new trainees or work for Charles as an assistant." He cracked a smile and looked up to call into the kitchen, "Sister Brenda! I got you flour and sugar!" (Reply to this)

	Torii had been listing the rest of the cast, "Because see, the clown is the Pikachu, and sir Andrew's the cobra, and sir Toby's the duck," And that was when what he'd said finally caught up with her, and she laughed, slinging both arms around him in a quick hug, "Dude! That's awesome!" Brenda leaned around the door from the kitchen, "Oh, good, nearly out of flour, thanks!" (Reply to this)

Teja patted Torii on the back, knowing better than to hug her in return. As much as everyone else loved hugging her to see what she'd spew out, he didn't particularly abuse that fact. He kissed her on the cheek, instead. "Mr. Ofdensen is a good man, he knows proficiency when he sees it. I'll be working for my allowance, though I believe that it'll be just a bit more than what I'm used to. Sadako was lovely as usual. Such a dear woman. Oh, and 359. She's just thrilled. I'm glad she and Sadako get to work more to their potential. So how's everything with you, little big sister? Are you doing well? Is big-big sister still denying you coffee?"

She just grinned again, shaking her head at that, "Good luck with it, s'all I'll say, besides the fact that I don't think you'll need the luck, you're doing good for a guy who was a bump the last time I saw him."

She shrugged at the followup questions, "I'm good, can finally actually play a couple songs, and I can have coffee just as long as I'm not drinking it after dark, that's the newest rule."

"You? Can actually play music? Oh, that's right, the little Skwisgaar's been teaching you. That's incredible, Torii. You'll be as good as I am some day. And it's good that you can have coffee, because Mr. Ofdensen acquired Starbucks when he jumped in, this time. I think we'll all be very caffeinated from here on out. Then again, I'm fairly certain he knows the Wartooth propensity for being a bit high strung." He looked down at Cassidy and sighed, "How did such a cute, sweet baby like him turn out to be such a jerk? I'll never understand it." He said it in a tone that was below that which Brenda could hear. "I'm glad he's stayed out of my hair since I got here, you know. He was always a jerk to me when I was little."

He looked up at Torii with bright, smiling eyes then, "Dad's been wanting to see us all recently. He told me that he wants us all to meet mom. Well, young mom. And Mr. Ofdensen would also like to meet the two of you. I think he'll be pleasantly surprised that you and Brenda are far more like dad than I am."

Torii smiled, "Oh I don't know about that, but I'm okay. I can play London Bridge, Musetta's Waltz and this other song that Skwisgaar wrote after I messed with one of his jams. It's actually pretty awesome."

As if to prove his point Cass chucked the turtle right back at Teja. Granted, there wasn't much force behind it, but it made him topple over laughing all the same.

Torii tried not to laugh at this, shaking her head, "Well we'll have to go visit sometime, I've been meaning to stop by the new Mordhaus, just haven't done it yet."

"Hey, you little...!" Teja said, tossing the turtle right back at the infant, before tickling his belly. "You mean other than to paint the entire hallway red with blood? Sounds like fun to me. You know, I'm sure you're free to come over any time. You know their library, it's got Torii written all over it. Well, not literally. Speaking of which, I brought a few books from it. One's a book entirely in what seems to be Polish but it's got nice pictures, one is a cookbook or a grimoire, I can't tell, and the third is the owner's manual for the world's first hovercraft." He smiled slightly, laying back on the floor, resting on his elbows. "I went through the non-fiction section today."

	"That wasn't a visit, that was a mission." She was grinning though, and actually laughed at the book selection, "That's awesome. I'll definitely have to go check it out myself. You know, for a bunch of guys with questionable reading comprehension they do have a pretty awesome book collection." Cass just laughed more at the tickling, kicking his feet and flailing. Cassidy never did grow out of the foot-kicking reaction to tickles. Teja noted that with a wry grin. He looked over at his sister, relenting his tickle torture to let Cass crawl off if he so chose.

"I really think it was just more for their own egos. That or the roadies suggested it and one of them thought it was a good idea. Or Miniver. I don't know. In any case, it's one of my favorite places to be. Though sometimes, I find Soren in there, too. Usually when that happens, I just make myself scarce by going to the forge, instead. He never goes there." Teja smiled slightly. "I'm hoping to get my armor done by Halloween. Do you know what you'll be going as?"

	She shrugged, "Unless I suddenly come up with other plans I get to be Alice for Cass and Soren and Sable and Henn's thing, it's Henn's birthday, so we're doing a... thing, I don't really know what, I just know Cass pouted and made puppy eyes and I didn't have any other plans so I said 'sure'." DRAT! The foul beasts had captured his sister! He shrugged. "Well, you'd make a very pretty Alice, I think. You've got just the right hair for it, and you always looked good in blue, even if you yourself don't know it. They're lucky to even have such a perfect Alice. I wonder what Brennie and Teague are doing. I know Nathan's been working very hard at trying to make armor, and I've been tweaking it when he's not looking so it looks at least vaguely armor-shaped. He's doing extremely well, considering his attention span and attention to detail." He shrugged, "Should the worst happen, I'll just make sure he's got a full suit of armor and he and I can go terrorize the little ones that attempt to come to the gates for candy.

"We're just staying in." was Brenda's response from the kitchen, emerging once more, wiping flour off her hands, "Sounds like you've got quite a night planned though."

Torii grinned, "Sounds like fun. Dad's probably going to convince mom-who-isn't to go trick or treating, I remember her telling us that she'd never been before she met dad." She shrugged then, "If all else fails I'll clean up around the neighborhood when I'm done with the Amoeba."

Somehow, the fact they were staying in didn't surprise him, "What, no dressing the grub up and going out, big-big sissy?" He looked over to where Cassidy had been, and wasn't entirely unsurprised when he wasn't there anymore.

"See, I've never been trick-or-treating, myself. I never had the need to go. We have plenty of candy at Mordhaus, and the band always misses the point of most holidays, anyway. Skwisgaar only celebrates the holidays so he has a chance to act fatherly because Lulu gets off on it, Nathan kind of just... does... whatever. Pickles and Miniver think every holiday should be replaced by Saint Patrick's, so I was basically stuck with Yule and my birthday." He shrugged one shoulder. He wasn't terribly upset by it. At least Nathan wanted to dress up.

"And I think dad might be going out with Stephanie, you're right. He hasn't said."

	Brenda shrugged: "Dress him up as what? A turnip? Jumping bean? Naah, wait until he's old enough to know what's going on." Torii smiled, reaching over to ruffle Teja's hair, "So c'mon by here, you and me can go out, terrorize the neighborhood after all the kiddies have wound down and everybody's still got heaps of candy left because you know people totally over-buy these days." 	He looked up at his big-big sister, "I suggest a little devil." That said, he turned back to Torii only to get his hair ruffled. He looked only a bit chagrined as he smoothed his hair back into place. "I'll do that once Nathan gets distracted. I'm pretty sure we'll clean up. Brenda laughed, shaking her head, "I'm sure we'll come up with something."

Torii grinned outright, "We totally will, especially if I figure out a long skirt to go over the Alice-dress, make it into a princess gown, shouldn't be hard, just the difference between Alice and Cinderella, really, gimmie a call when you're on your way, if I'm still out with the Amoeba I'll make my excuses and head back, if not I'll already be here."

"That's the best plan yet. I think I could get our seamstress to whip something up for you. She's a pro when it comes to dresses. Did you see Lulu's wedding gown? She did that. I only saw photos, but I also talk to the staff and they say for wearing hoods all day, it's rather comfortable. She might be magical or something. I'm not sure." He reached out to squeeze Torii's hand. "It's great that you want to spend time with me. I wouldn't know how to handle things if you didn't. You're the best midget a brother could ask for."

	Torii stuck her tongue out at him, mostly just because she could, then she shrugged, "Maybe that's the point." Brenda nodded, "Yeah, he kind of does, I figure it's because it jingles, but I'm not totally sure. Might be because it's squishy enough that he can actually hold onto it." (Reply to this)
