Bobby was really happy that Mira had liked getting her stunner. That's what he planned on her being when he thought to find it and give it to her. He kinda wished that he could've been there to see her face when she saw it. But, if she really cried, like she said she did? There would be no way in hell he would've been able to keep his composure. And he couldn't have that. He was already feeling like he was getting as soft as cereal that's had milk on it for an hour. Most of the time he didn't mind but there were short fleeting times when he was still waiting for the bottom to fall out. Because that's what he's been used to in his life.

When Mira came into the garage to get going to the animal shelter she had one of those grins on her face. One of those smiles that drove Bobby wild. It was a smile that said something like, 'just wait until I get you alone later.' He was half tempted to take her right here and now but they had a dog to go get. Something that they both wanted. So he could wait. But he did pull her to him and gave her a quick deep kiss before they got into the car.

It didn't take very long to get to the shelter. They walked inside and there was a woman behind a counter that looked up and asked them if she could help them. Bobby nodded at her and said, "We're lookin' to adopt a dog." She pointed them down a hallway to a door that was marked with a big sign on it that said obviously, DOG in big bright red letters. Smiling at her he took her hand before opening the door. "Ready?" This was going to be the hard part. They'd have to pick just one to take home.

Mira sniffed the air once they were at the shelter. It was a familiar mixture of animal, animal feed, and animal crap that somehow made her feel right at home. She pushed through the door marked DOG, grinning back at Bobby. "Just one, Damsel. We don't have enough room for all of 'em."

She figured she'd go down the hall and check every cage in turn. The first cage had mostly puppies. "Do we want something young?" She plunked down in front of the cage, sitting on the dirty floor, sticking her fingers through the mesh.

"One? Only one? Damn, kinda wanted to get two. Then we could both pick one out." Bobby was half joking half serious. He knew what she meant and it was going to be hard for them to narrow it down. Looking around he saw so many.

"Don't have to be a pup. We could get somethin' older if you want." The pups were cute but he knew that they'd be adopted, no problem. The older dogs were usually the ones that captured his heart. Just because they might not get adopted.

	"Two works." Mira grinned and stood up, wiping off her ass. "I kind of like the older dogs. The ones that think they'll never taste freedom again." She moved on down the line, plopping back down in front of a cage with an older rottweiler. She stuck a finger into the cage, cocking her head to the side. "Hey. How's it goin'? Jail sucks, huh?" "I dunno. We might not be able to find two." He was joking and glad that she liked the older ones too.

When she stopped in front of a rotty he crouched and held a hand up to the cage palm down as it started to lick Mira's finger. The sign on his cage said his name was 'Butch' and that he was four. "Hey big fella." He couldn't help but smile as it started to make little grunting noises as Mira was able to get a couple more fingers into the cage to scratch his snout.

Bobby knew what she had done just as clearly as he knew that they weren't gonna be going home without a dog today. When Butch jumped on her he chuckled and let out a shrill whistle. The dog stopped and tilted it's head to the side looking at Bobby before coming over and nosing him. "Aren't you a good boy?" He scratched his ears and patted his side. Looking at Mira he asked, "One down?"

	Mira laughed and nodded, hopping up from the floor. "One down." She kept walking by the cages, laughing when she saw a small dog jumping up and down and yipping. "Bobby, look." She knelt down, opening the cage and catching the dog after it jumped into her arms. "Hey, sweetheart." She held it out to check its sex. "Hey, little girl." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Mira laughed. "I think she's a little bit of every dog ever created. Aren't you, honey?" She looked at the sign on the cage. "Your name is Sprinkles? Oh, sweetie, let's give you a good name." She thought to herself, trying to think of one. "How 'bout Ebon?" Naming a dog after the ship she and Atton and Katya had shared seemed a good enough idea as any. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Bobby looked a little worried when Mira set the little dog down. Butch looked a little unsure at first. Then his tail started to wag and his front legs went down in a play bow and Ebon started barking happily as they both started to sniff one another. "Think that's settled." They walked out the door together and headed to the counter. Both of the dogs were pretty well behaved. They were almost acting like they knew that they were going home. The lady at the counter was giving them both a cross look when they came out with the dogs. "How'd they get out of their cages?" Bobby just shrugged and said, "They must've come unlatched somehow." He paid the lady and he was glad to get out of there.

He hadn't thought to bring a leash but Mira had Ebon and Butch seemed happy to just trit trot along side them. Bobby still walked next to him in between the road and the shelter just in case he got the idea to run.

	"Good to know." He gave her a look as they all piled into the car to go home. She was pretty damn amazing. Once the dogs were in the back he looked at Butch who looked like he wanted to come over the seat and sit with them. "Sit." Butch sat just like he was told. "Looks like he's had some trainin'." 	Crap, he hadn't even thought to get some dog food or stuff like that before they got the dogs. "Think we need to stop for dog chow and toys. Forgot 'bout that. 	"I'll run in and grab collars, just to be safe. I trust our kids, but I don't know about the other ones." She handed Ebon over and opened the car door to jog inside. After a few minutes, she returned to the car with two sets of leash and collar, one black set for Ebon and one blue set for Butch. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

That's pretty much what he meant. He didn't want other dogs going after Ebon or Butch if they got too excited. He took the blue set from her and started to put them on Butch.

"Now, don't you both look all fashionable?" He got out of the car and made a clicking noise for Butch to get out and Mira had Ebon. He took her hand and held the leash with the other as they went inside.
