Mira sniffed the air once they were at the shelter. It was a familiar mixture of animal, animal feed, and animal crap that somehow made her feel right at home. She pushed through the door marked DOG, grinning back at Bobby. "Just one, Damsel. We don't have enough room for all of 'em."
She figured she'd go down the hall and check every cage in turn. The first cage had mostly puppies. "Do we want something young?" She plunked down in front of the cage, sitting on the dirty floor, sticking her fingers through the mesh.
