Who: Everyone involved in the Solomon's Crown plot
Where: a private meeting hall in Italy
What: Suiting up, comparing notes, eating dinner
When: Early evening, Milan time

The meeting hall was not huge. It could have been any meeting hall in any library in the world. The fact that it was filled to the brim with food that technically wasn't supposed to be there was the only thing that set the room apart from any other.

The people inside the room, however, were such a varied amalgam that there was no mistaking this for a book of the month club meeting.

There were maps of Israel and Jerusalem pinned to the walls, and various scribblings in both English and Creole on the sides. A stack of neat notes, written in Italian, were on the table, far away from the food. A photocopied packet of the notes was by each of the seven seats.

He sat up. "Seriously?" He gave her a look and then decided...what the hell? "Do I get to keep them?" he asked in Italian, just before he started to cackle with glee. "Oh my God. So cool."

She laughed. "Yes. All yours." There was definite hair ruffling. "What do you think you'd be best at for this particular quest?"

He chewed at his lip, still sort of smiling. "I'm not sure. I mean, I'm pretty good at a couple of things. I like puzzles, so I could help with that part. I can stick up for myself pretty well in a fight. You know, topple pillars, set stuff on fire with my brain, that sort of thing. I mean, what do you think?"

She thought for a bit. "Honestly, I think that you've got a lot of potential. I don't know that you could safely get past the traps, though, since we're not one hundred percent sure that they'll all be disabled. However, the elementals are going to be tricky, and I'm sure that someone good at puzzles would be helpful against them. Especially the ones that steel can't hurt."

You know, most of them.

"I like the sound of that," he said, perking up. "Like I said, I like puzzles. And they're based on the elements, so they can't be too hard...right?"

She smiled. "Good! I'm sure you'll do fine."

She snagged one of his chips. "I'm glad you decided to come along."

"Of course you are," he said, lifting his chin. "I'm awesome." He took a chip and popped it in his mouth, munching it regally.

She snickered. "Yes, you are."

And that was that, really.
