Akima was stretched out on the balcony of their hotel room, reading a book in the sun. She hummed softly, the breeze playing with her hair as she read. They'd left the country the second things had gone bad in New York, at Pulse's request, and had spent the ensuing days not paying attention to the news from America.

Pulse was still asleep, this morning, but Akima never really slept more than five hours at a time, so she'd snuck off to read a book. It was a rather good book, about alien parasites that lay their eggs in people's bodies.

Luckily, it didn't remind her of any aliens she'd ever encountered.

"What the hell?" was Akima's immediate response, but she wasn't too worried about it, really. After all, she'd expected that to take an hour.

Soon enough she was strapped into the pilot's seat, and ready to go.

Lorna, however, was less than sure. "Is it going to be able to fly with all that weight?"

Despite being able to fly on her own, she was not so happy with the concept of air travel.

	"Magnetic control. She's a mutant, same race as me." He strapped in, then turned to answer Lorna. "It's fine. I checked the specs. We are well within tolerance." Alex nudged Lorna. "Come on. Let's go." He poked her gently toward the helicopter. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"Oh. Nifty." She bounced and eyed the other woman. "Come on, I won't crash. Promise."

Lorna flinched and poked Alex back, but finally got into the helicopter. She strapped in quickly, a little embarrassed about being so afraid. As soon as she could she held Alex's hand, not wanting to let go of him for an instant. If the helicopter went down, she wanted to be sure she had him.

The helicopter lifted up slowly, and Lorna went pale. Akima flipped on the microphone in her helmet, and her voice was slightly amused as she said "and we're off!"

	Akima hummed and poked Pulse back. "I'm behaving." Lorna made a soft, unhappy sound when she heard how long they'd be in the air, but kept all other comment to herself. The fact that she could carry the whole thing to safety didn't do much to ease her fears, much to her annoyance. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

That got Lorna's mind off her paranoia. "No way! Holy crap! You've fallen from our noble bachelor ranks? I thought I'd never see the day."

Her tone was playful, though, and she let go of Alex long enough to pat Pulse's shoulder. "Congratulations to you both."

There was much bouncing from the pilot's seat. "It was awesome. I've never seen anyone get married that fast before."

	He laughed. "She swept me off my feet. And thanks." Pulse chuckled. Alex grinned, sitting back and smiled. "Sounds like fun. Glad you two found each other." Pulse nodded. "Thanks. 	"Strap in, everyone." Pulse settled back and nodded to Akima. "Let's open her up dear. Go to full throttle." He winked at her and relaxed. In the back seat, Alex just hugged Lorna and held back a chuckle. it was going to be an interesting flight. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Lorna's 'hey, wait now!' was drowned out by the engines picking up the pace. Akima laughed loudly and put the helicopter into high gear. She was willing to bet she could even shave an hour off their time to London, if she tried hard enough. (Reply to this) (Parent)
