Who: Obi-Wan Kenobi (female), Ray Terrill & Anakin Solo
When: World War II
What: Rescuing Obi-Wan
Warnings: Cursing and blood?

Obi-Wan couldn't imagine how she was so caught unaware. But this wasn't her world or even the time of the world she had started to think of as home. Her thoughts went to her son, alone back in the real world. Away from this insanity. She was worried she was going to leave him an orphan now. Padme not there to watch over him. The wall had come out of nowhere. One moment she had been assisting the child, the next she felt pain and pressure on her body. Barely managing to get out a message, she knew at least Ray and Anakin had heard.

The Portkey in London had, thankfully, not been damaged, but it was apparently a near thing. Collapsed masonry reflected that much. Mara had taught Anakin a lot about his own physical capabilities, and it was a good thing, because it looked like he was going to have some climbing to do.

As he looked around the damaged but strong city, he reached out with the Force. The overpopulated city had too many visions to offer him, and he was very nearly overwhelmed as he--

--a girl inconveniently the wrong race for this conflict hiding in a basement, waiting patiently for her ticket out--

--a German family who had once supported Hitler before the darker truths came to light--

--a woman, tempted to throw open the windows and break the blackout if only to end the nightmare--

Anakin focused, putting aside as many of his feelings as possible, searching only for those in immediate danger. Obi-Wan was on the far side of the city. Drawing on the Force, Anakin ran.

Obi-Wan tried shifting beneath the rubble but it only resulted in her crying out with pain. She could feel blood seeping from one of the wounds she sustained and her ribs were badly compressed. She attempted to reach out with the Force, but knew that her abilities were weak from her injuries.

That cry came at exactly the right time, and Ray switched directions, slamming to a halt meters away from her.

"Obi-Wan? Can you hear me?"

He head heard her, but was still not sure exactly where she was. He started moving, carefully, not quite putting his weight on the surface.

"Hang on!"

Navigating the ruined streets by sight would have been suicide; Anakin instead followed the Force, dodging rubble with his eyes half-closed, leaping over holes, and brushing aside blocked streets with telekinesis. He knew where she was, he knew how to get there, the only problem was actually doing it.

When he arrived, there was someone standing near her, a bright light of life in his mind's eye, especially compared to the alarmingly dim light of his de facto grandfather. Thinking there was no time for pleasantries, Anakin barked, "Move," and began shifting rubble with the Force, moving as quickly as he could without disrupting it completely.

Ray stumbled back, then nodded.

It was a moment before an idea occurred to him.

"Is she deep, and if so, can you tell me how far?"

He watched the man's power and his eyes narrowed.

"And can you use that for a shield from a distance?"

Obi-Wan could hear them but she could barely breath through the pain and the feeling of being crushed. She whimpered again, her fingers shifting. She attempted to lend strength to Anakin, but it was too much for her. Her eyes started to cloud with blackness till she stopped, but she knew that she would most likely lose conciousness soon.

"She's a few meters down. Losing consciousness. I can feel her down there, but she's weak, I can't give you much of a direct direction besides 'down.'"

Anakin knew that some Jedi could protect themselves with the Force. Anakin had never had to do it. Theoretically it should be no more difficult than catching a ball with the Force, albeit from several directions at once without any idea of where they were coming from. But clearly this person had a plan.

"Yes, I can, if I concentrate," said Anakin, far more confidently than he felt. "What do you have in mind?"

"Excellent!"

He eyed the rubble and nodded, pulling in his will and power.

"If you can shield her and yourself, and that is the distance, I can vaporize the rubble between us and her, and support the rest once I have. It will take a lot, but I can do it."

He nodded, confidence ringing in his tones. It would take most of his stored energy, but it was worth it.
