Obi-Wan couldn't imagine how she was so caught unaware. But this wasn't her world or even the time of the world she had started to think of as home. Her thoughts went to her son, alone back in the real world. Away from this insanity. She was worried she was going to leave him an orphan now. Padme not there to watch over him. The wall had come out of nowhere. One moment she had been assisting the child, the next she felt pain and pressure on her body. Lucifer had walked from the Vatican towards Rome and found an airport. Then he had flashed his passport and bypassed various security measures, because Romans have the unflinching assumption that anyone from Vatican City is incapable of crime. He purchased a coach ticket to New York City and declined the headphones; he didn't need to listen to Mean Girls. On the way he answered a prayer in a vaguely disinterested way, almost completely forgetting about it by the time he landed in New York. From the airport, he took a taxi to Mary's apartment building and walked in. He rode the elevator to her floor and knocked on the door.
