Accompanied by his house elf, Terrence appeared on Katie's doorstep, not long after getting her invitation over the journals. It had been a little while since he'd seen her, he reflected, which was a little bit lame; he probably should be a bit better about not letting time get away from him like that. But probably she'd been busy too, so he wasn't going to worry about it much. It wasn't like they hadn't talked; she'd helped him name his house elf.
He had an interesting history with this elf, to say the least. Count Jingleheimer Ding-a-Ling -- formerly Inky, which was a much less interesting name -- had been around since he was young, and the lines of age on his face were due largely to how tumultuous that house had been, right up until his parents had died. He now seemed to regard it as his elfish duty to protect and serve Terrence, though Terrence never really asked much of him; he did make a special effort to be nice to the creature, though, because it was too easy to make him look like a kicked puppy.
The elf had been in a better mood since getting his new name, though, which amused Terrence to no end. It was no wonder that he'd always gotten on better with the elf than with his parents, honestly, when they could both be entertained by one beginning with, "Count Jingleheimer," in a sing-song voice, and the second finishing with, "Ding-a-Ling!"
Which was what Terrence did, as soon as he knocked on the door. "It's T and Count Jingleheimer," he said, to which the elf added cheerfully, "Ding-a-Ling!" Before the door opened, Terrence was already laughing.
