"Nope, it's new," Terrence said. "Well, not new, but it wasn't always like that."
He watched her, wishing he could just tell her. But he couldn't, he literally couldn't. He'd gotten farther than he'd expected, considering how handicapped he was by the Unbreakable Vow, but the fact that she didn't know everything was really only making it worse.
"That seems to happen when I come over these days, doesn't it?" he asked, trying to make light of it. He didn't really want to change the subject, but he wasn't enjoying the tension of the conversation, either. "Maybe we should watch the movie and give your head a break. Think about it in small doses."
Doses. Hell, that one hadn't even been purposeful, but it wasn't a bad way of putting it. Maybe he should have thought of that, tried to slip that word in more significantly. Probably too late now, anyway.
