Remus could already feel the pull of the moon on his bones, stretching them, readying them for the change, making them ache. Over the years, one would think that Remus might have gotten used to the sensation, but he didn't. But along with the pain came the fear, the ever-present terror that he might be freed from his improvised cage. Who knew the havoc he could wreak if the wolf, if he were allowed to roam the streets.
The walls of the library weren't very sturdy. True, they were a sight better than the walls of his own hut or any other hut on the island, but the storm had utterly destroyed a few other establishments on the island, establishments that had been much better built than Remus's own hut - which had withstood the storm without problem. Remus wondered now if the apparent sturdiness of the buildings wasn't just for show. Could this room really hold him?
Though fear had him gripped tight making him barely able to swallow through the bile that attempted to rise, though his every bone and muscle ached, straining against the moon, Remus had to try. He carried books off of the shelves in the back room of the library into the library proper without paying any attention to anyone else around him, all of his focus pointed inward.
