No more bird-dives. Definitely a good sign. The rest, of course, was a little ambiguous-- and there was plenty of gray area between 'not jumping off any cliffs' and 'doing okay.'
Plus, the whole Sirius thing. The whole Remus-and-Sirius thing. What a trip and a half that was. Might be. Who knew. As much as James was a bit in the thick of it, he was trying not to be in the middle of it. Matters of the heart... as much as James had worn his heart on his sleeve about Lily, the last thing he'd ever wanted was for someone else to jump in, to try to help. James knew it was something birds did, talking endlessly to their girlfriends about their relationships, or boys, or whatever. And as much as every one of the Marauders was an integral part of who James was, he didn't want Lily dating them. It needed, on some level, to just be him and her. And the reason it had worked was because the two of them had figured it out together. He sure as hell wasn't about to take that away from Sirius and Remus just to satisfy his innate desire to fix things, to make things work, to engineer some sort of happy ending or something. Besides, too many cooks in the proverbial kitchen really could screw up relationship-pie.
Great. And now he wanted pie. Banoffee pie, actually. Gods, but his missed his mother's banoffee pie.
Satisfied that no one else was around, James let himself in. Bumping into Regulus when he wasn't planning on it was something James rather dutifully avoided. But no, it was just Remus inside. James just sort of had a knack for learning routines. Too many years learning to avoid Filch, he guessed with a smirk. It really was a good thing he was such a swell guy-- the world might be a pretty scary place if James ever elected to use his glorious brain for nefarious purposes. Well, maliciously nefarious purposes. The jovial sort of nefarious was pretty okay.
"Moons?" he called out, guessing that Remus would be holed up in bed.
