Remus disagreed. He hadn't wanted James to go talk to Sirius on his behalf, would never want that! But while Remus had been agonising over the knowledge that Sirius didn't feel the same way. James had talked to him about letting himself care for Sirius despite the feelings not being returned. It was as though James had encouraged Remus to view his hopes as ridiculous dreams when all along, Sirius had wanted something. James could've said something. Should have.
