'Getting laid', as James said it, wasn't a rite of passage to Remus, but he did have the decency to be mildly insulted at the presumption. Though he had never considered it before, it now became apparent that James wouldn't think very highly of him at all if he'd turned out to be a virgin. The coughing and joking around the rum was indication enough of that; as though being a virgin might have made Remus an incomplete man.
"Not that I think that's any of your business," he started off by saying primly, "but I have 'gotten laid', yes. Once." It was the truth. Just the once, and then he'd never seen the girl again. "She seemed to like me, Sirius was always out on dates and bringing them home. I spent a lot of time around then with you and Lily. I think you wanted me to leave you two alone more often than I did, but you didn't say anything. Sometimes I'd go over to Peter, to give you a break, an evening alone with your wife. So I went on a date with her and brought her home."
