Who: Steve & Verity
What: Steve got permission to "teach Verity a lesson"
Where: Rabastan's
When: Thursday, mid morning
Rating: Probably on the high side
For what seemed like hours, Steve started a piece of parchment. It was the response he'd been given and honestly, he couldn't believe it. After sniping with Verity once again on the journals, he'd acted on a whim. He would write to Rabastan Lestrange, asking permission to see his slave. This whole permission business was annoying as hell, but Steve was getting used to it. He'd expected the response to be similar to Bellatrix Lestrange's, a polite thank you for the inquiry but no, you cannot see the prisoner. How wrong he was. Perhaps he'd phrased this better, or perhaps Verity's public bashing hadn't gone unnoticed, or perhaps Rabastan just didn't care. Whichever the case may be, Steve now held permission to "teach Verity a lesson" and the location of Rabastan Lestrange's manor. He had strict instructions not to let Verity free, but Steve wasn't terribly concerned about that. Rabastan would have placed some sort of enchantment to ensure Verity didn't leave the grounds.
Scribbling a note to Rose, Steve left it on the table. He wasn't sure where she was, and he wasn't about to go looking for her. Eating a meal in silence was hard enough, he had no idea what he'd say if Rose asked him where he was going. Before leaving, Steve made sure the horses were fed and watered. Satisfied and now left with no excuse to delay his travels, Steve apparated to the location Rabastan had described. It would be a short walk to the manor now. With a heavy heart plagued by fear, Steve walked up to the manor. He paused for a moment before entering - he had a lot of thoughts to collect.
With a sigh, Steve opened the door. The manor was huge and everything looked incredibly expensive. Not that it surprised him, most Death Eaters came from filthy rich backgrounds. Padding lightly around the house, Steve decided to call out. "Verity?" Without warning, a house elf grabbed Steve by the hand and showed him the way. When he rounded the doorway and saw her, his heart threatened to stop. There was no mistaking it - this was the girl he'd seen at Lucas'. The girl he'd thought was his girlfriend, not his slave. "Verity... it's Steve," he explained. His voice was slightly shaky, and he truly believed that he was currently more afraid than she was. The only reason he was still standing here, was his wand. He could just disapparate if Verity became out of hand.
