"It's natural," Steve replied quickly. He didn't want Verity to be upset at herself for being curious. He'd much rather that than her becoming angry. He figured she had many more question for him, but he wasn't about to encourage her asking them. There wasn't much he could say, not without speaking to the Healer. Steve hadn't been there for long; hadn't wanted to be there in the first place.
"You can blame me," Steve offered in a quiet voice. He didn't want her to blame him, but if that's what it took. If having Verity hate him to save her sanity, so be it. It's not like he'd be losing a friendship. Although, she was as close as he'd come to Michael. And Michael was someone Steve would do almost anything to see.
"Not offhand, but I'm sure some of the upper or elder or whatever Death Eaters do. Or one of the guys I've met along the way will know someone. I think memory charms can be broken, but I don't really know how. It's complicated magic." Magic that Steve wasn't capable of, he knew that much. He wasn't old enough or experienced enough. The most he could do was find out the theory and hope he could make something of it.
