What the...

One minute I'm in a park in Oregon, a wind storm picks up and the next thing I know I have a bunch of kids I can barely understand yelling at me because I landed on their sand castle or something. Like it was my fault!

I feel like I've been sucked into a bad TV movie. I'm not even going to start comparing this with the Wizard of Oz...

Ah yes, gotcha. I can relate to all that. Although saying I need rescuing doesn't sound very manly. Unless of course a beautiful woman is doing said rescuing!

Thankfully the horde I ran into just wanted me to get out of their way. My lack of being able to understand them may have helped that a little though. No kids I take it you left behind then?

Okay, how about assistance? It's okay for a man to need that, right?

God no. I didn't leave anyone behind except friends. I wonder if they miss me. Did you know when we come over here we're replacing someone?

Well, that's better but still iffy. Depends on the situation. If it's something he should be able to handle then no, but if it's reasonable that he'd need a hand then it's okay... In my views anyway.

I'm sure they do. I read that on the website thing. That's more than a bit weird really. The name in the wallet I have needs to be fixed though. There's no way I'm going by Alvin Irving!

Which reminds me, I'm Ryan by the way, Ryan Lucas.

Tess Jacoby. Now come on. Alvin Irving is a perfectly splendid name!

I'm not going to look and see who I replaced. It creeps me out and really bothers me. I just don't even want to know, and it wouldn't change anything even if I did. I'm still going to be mhyself.

It's a pleasure to meet you, Tess. You're kidding right? Doesn't the name, Alvin Irving, instantly scream out images of a guy with tape holding his glasses together and a pocket protector?

I'm more worried that whoever I replaced has replaced me back home. I figured I'd check out this Irving guy until I get myself settled, if he's got family maybe let them know what happened. I don't plan on becoming him though.

No, I think it's hot and sexy. Rowr.

Ha, well, if that's what happens then I hope whoever got me is enjoying it. She has everything and I have nothing. But, I'd rather acquire it my own way than use someone else's. Ugh, it gives me the willies.

I figure they're gone and I might as well use what I need - within reason of course but... Otherwise it could just go to waste and there's no sense in that.

I guess that's a good point. I hadn't thought of it that way.

And, you never know, they may have some pretty cool stuff that would otherwise go to waste. Otherwise I can let the family or friends know why Alvin Irving is no longer around. I imagine the locals are used to that kind of thing here.

Yeah, maybe. It sill wigs me out. I'm not very happy to be suddenly transported, as you may imagine, and I'm stubborn. I don't want to feel like my life isn't really mine, or that it's stolen.

No suddenly being here without a way to return hasn't thrilled me much either. I don't think I've really had a chance to realize my situation yet though. It all still seems like a really bad movie or dream. I keep expecting to wake up any minute.

Me too, so I've been using a couple of tried and true escape methods: alcohol and sex. Hasn't really worked though. Still here, still freaked. I guess I'm getting more calm about it.

Have you found they are at least a distraction? A distraction is something. I think I'm going to need that drink here soon. Care to join me?

Yes, they are that. I'm not saying they don't work completely, but eventually you still have to face reality.

Of course. Apparently people use something called port keys to travel around when they're far distances from each other. I've never used one, though.

Yeah, you can run but you can't hide.

Where are you at? According to the news stand I'm in London, England. What does a port key look like, do you know?

I have no idea, but you know what? It doesn't matter because I'm in London too.

Well, that makes things much easier. Although I have no idea where anything is. I don't think I've ever been to London before.

Okay, I'll meet you here. I've never been to this place so I don't know if it's any good, but it's worth a shot.

Okay. I'll wait out front for you. Should be easy to recognize me. I'm tall, for one. And I have long brown hair.

Sounds like you could be a model.

I believe I'm about a block away. Should be there in just a minute.
