What the...

One minute I'm in a park in Oregon, a wind storm picks up and the next thing I know I have a bunch of kids I can barely understand yelling at me because I landed on their sand castle or something. Like it was my fault!

I feel like I've been sucked into a bad TV movie. I'm not even going to start comparing this with the Wizard of Oz...

Hi! I welcome wagon around here a lot, and yeah, it is sort of like a bad TV movie. The [website] explains it better than I do.

Are you in a safe place? Are the kids going to attack you? If they're all blond, I'd run.

Hey there! Thanks for the link, that explains quite a bit.

They are all blond now that you mention it, but seemed to ignore me after I left their play area.

Welcome wagon, eh? So I take it this type of thing happens quite a lot?

You're welcome!

Eeeeugh, that's for the best. Creepy ass blond kids.

Usually every day, every other day. Longest I've seen is a month or so between people.

What about kids of other hair colours? You find them creepy as well?

Wow! That's a lot of people! So what happens to the person who used to be the person I am now? Do they get my old life?

Nope! Just seen Children of the Corn way too many times.

It is. And I don't know, I think they were just sort of a pod person and they just stop being.

Poor blond kids get such a bad rap in horror films.

Strangely that actually makes me feel better. So, how long have you been here?

You're not really blond, why're you upset? And please, my hair's natural. You think blond's bad, try pink.

Good! I was born here, but I'm in my past right now. I've been about two and a half decades in the wrong time for a month or so now.

I'm not really. Upset that is, although I'm not blond either. You wear pink well, it can't be that bad...?

... I'm not sure what to say to that. Or perhaps what to ask first. Is that common here? To move back in forth in time?

Well, it's good you're not upset. And it's just annoying, everyone asking if it's my natural hair color. Yes it is, rarr!

It is pretty common, but it doesn't happen to everyone.

So I take it pink is not a standard hair colour for those born here? Sorry, I'm just trying to get a handle on it all.

Good to know. I'll try to avoid that I think. I'm happy being in 2010. Too many other things change and I'll really be lost. How are you enjoying the time displacement?

Nope, just my family.

I just miss my computer, and all of my music. But it's not so bad at all, really, my family's here.

Well, I did it at the guy's house who "rescued" me. I don't really know my way around here yet but I'm sure it should be easy to find a place.

You needed rescuing?

One would think. I suppose I should explore a bit. I'm not even really sure I know where exactly I'm at yet. Some place with blonde funny speaking children!

Well I mean... I show up in this place where I don't know anyone, or where I am, or anything. I didn't know what had happened so yeah, in a way I needed rescuing.

God, I'm glad there weren't a bunch of children around me. I don't know what to do with them.

Ah yes, gotcha. I can relate to all that. Although saying I need rescuing doesn't sound very manly. Unless of course a beautiful woman is doing said rescuing!

Thankfully the horde I ran into just wanted me to get out of their way. My lack of being able to understand them may have helped that a little though. No kids I take it you left behind then?

Okay, how about assistance? It's okay for a man to need that, right?

God no. I didn't leave anyone behind except friends. I wonder if they miss me. Did you know when we come over here we're replacing someone?

Well, that's better but still iffy. Depends on the situation. If it's something he should be able to handle then no, but if it's reasonable that he'd need a hand then it's okay... In my views anyway.

I'm sure they do. I read that on the website thing. That's more than a bit weird really. The name in the wallet I have needs to be fixed though. There's no way I'm going by Alvin Irving!

Which reminds me, I'm Ryan by the way, Ryan Lucas.

Tess Jacoby. Now come on. Alvin Irving is a perfectly splendid name!

I'm not going to look and see who I replaced. It creeps me out and really bothers me. I just don't even want to know, and it wouldn't change anything even if I did. I'm still going to be mhyself.

It's a pleasure to meet you, Tess. You're kidding right? Doesn't the name, Alvin Irving, instantly scream out images of a guy with tape holding his glasses together and a pocket protector?

I'm more worried that whoever I replaced has replaced me back home. I figured I'd check out this Irving guy until I get myself settled, if he's got family maybe let them know what happened. I don't plan on becoming him though.

Recovering alcoholic. You're talking to one of the people who's been helping me, more than she knows - Palm. She's a lovely person.

I can direct you to any number of places, though.

Congrats on that!

That's the young lady with the pink hair? She does seem to be pretty remarkable.

Thank you. I'd appreciate that. Wonder if I can get the ladies to join me. Drinking alone in a strange place doesn't seem like a wise idea.
