People are losing their abilities? Hm. Mine seem to have suffered no drop-off as of yet. Which is good, I rather enjoy this.

Yep. My grandad's got the same thing, though he uses like... I don't even know, solar energy I guess, I use bio-electrical and emotional energy. Wrap something up in it and a few seconds later: kaboom.

That seems rather useful, barring the aforementioned accident.

I seem to have gotten what I can best describe as "accelerated probability". When I activate this ability, I can see what look like golden afterimages, only these are actually images of what is most probably going to occur. I can then accelerate myself along that path at a speed far greater than normal.

Almost like being able to make your own luck, nice.

It was a couple breakfast dishes, nothing irreplaceable, and it's damn easy to make confetti now. That and it doesn't work on anything living, which is good too.

It makes certain things exceptionally easy, yes. Though the temptation to leave it on at all times and simply never be surprised is rather great.

That must be comforting. At least you know you won't hurt anyone directly.

I can see how it would be, but personally I'd get bored if there weren't any surprises.

It is, it really is, especially considering that I'm already kind of a leech.

That's exactly why I've not given in. Though I must confess, I do have it on during most business meetings.

A leech? How so? If you don't mind my asking.

Well that just makes sense. I'd do the same thing in that situation.

Uh, well, usually I just say I'm an energytarian, because, see, humans give off huge amounts of energy, heat mostly, but also electrical impulses and stray thought patterns and emotional overflow, and it has to go somewhere, it doesn't just vanish off into the ether.

Well, not really, I guess in some places it does, but back home there's these inter-dimensional creatures called Shadows, and they feed off of all of that overflow, a safety valve of sorts. I do the same thing.

Ah, I see. That sounds rather helpful, all things considered.

It is, Shadows are integral to keeping people sane. At least, they are back home, I only know of five of them here, and this place seems to get on fine without them.

I think this place is an exception to every rule one could possibly think of.

This place is an exception to most exceptions.

So I've come to learn. Hopefully with this new ability, I'll be able to see what's coming with a bit more clarity.

I wish you luck, really I do. People are always trying to figure this place out and I don't think anyone's ever managed.
