Such blind devotion is to be applauded.

I could show you my true form. I do not believe I can assume it at present, but I can insert a vision of it directly into your mind. It would render you rather useless to your masters, were it not to kill you outright. The choice is yours.

Thank you.

And I'd rather you didn't. I don't mind being insane or dead, but neither do I want to inconvenience our healer for the time it would take to put me back together.

I heard it had something to do with tentacles and arthropods, and that's good enough for my imagination. Though I can't exactly say I'm sorry you're stuck in that body either.

I have many like you. None as lucid, though. It is most curious.

A healer? It would take a powerful healer indeed to repair damage done by my hand.

A close enough approximation, I suppose. About as well as the human mind can perceive, at any rate. Regarding this body, I do not find it any more relevant or significant than any other human.

I hold on to what sanity I need to fulfill my duties. It slips from time to time but I've never been reduced to babbling. I'm sorry your servants don't have the same control.

I don't know if she could. If I didn't have other obligations I'd be extremely tempted to test that.

Your current body resembles a famous and fairly attractive comedian. I appreciate the irony.

They amuse me, and are useful enough to be tolerated. It would be nice to have a few more lucid servants, though.

I've no interest in causing trouble. Not yet, anyway. I am rather pleased to be free of my prison, and while there are only a few here that could put me back from whence I came, I am not currently inclined to risk it.

A comedian? Really? That is rather ironic.

I think it's just the natural consequence of serving something like you. It's not something that humans can wrap our brains around for very long.

It wouldn't be trouble. No one could fault you for something I agreed to, even if it ended badly. However, my standing orders don't allow for unnecessary experiments and so that's a moot point.

Yes, and he's quite funny. I would expect there to be a decent amount of people mistaking you for him.

Indeed. Though the Messenger seems to have developed a means of maintaining his servants' lucidity. I believe it may have something to do with his...masks, I believe he calls them. Necessary at times, but really a distasteful practice when one is free to roam.

No one human. Powerful nonhuman entities often operate under different rulesets. Though it is not very formal, someone has already staked a claim on you, I can feel that much with a cursory glance. Knowing this, it would be problematic were I to carry things too far.

This is very good news. I will have to visit their dreams. While I do not require worshipers, I cannot deny that they were amusing little creatures.

I could see that being both useful and obnoxious. Though I suppose you could always find some fatal task for the more insane servants and recruit new ones to keep around as long as they can carry on a conversation. Unless their sanity loss is instant.

Powerful nonhuman entities-? ...Oh. Her. Got it. She doesn't own me, but I'm willing to bet that she knows what's best. Maybe if I asked her- no, I really shouldn't.

You could most likely amass a small army of his fans and convert them to worshiping you rather quickly. That would be hilarious.

I've done this on several occasions. The sanity loss is entirely dependent on how much they see of those from beyond the limits of human conception, as well as their own self-control. It is why many of my servants always seem so determined, because it takes a great will to salvage even a shard of functionality after looking upon me in my true form.

If she is anything like me, she would not like it very much if you are interfered with. Though if you would like to ask her, I suppose it could do no real harm.

Exactly what I intend on doing.

I bet it would. Then I respect their force of will, those that have it.

I asked her. If you make me go insane, she'll kill me and rebirth me in a week. If you flat out kill me, she won't have to. The big boss gave me permission to be out for that long. As fucked as this week has been, this is the only convenient time to be dead.

There were precious few, and they were usually removed by meddlesome people. Though I am not alone in that. I laughed so hard when I heard of Yog-Sothoth's children being handled quite easily by an old librarian and two academics. Really, now. Academics.

I am more than capable of both. If it is a matter of stress, it would be extraordinarily simple to trap you within a false reality within your own mind. Of course, coming back from a false reality is never easy. Still, I'll leave it up to you to choose.

That is funny. Academics and librarians can be sturdy things, though. The longest-surviving Klokateer is the Mordhaus librarian. But then we all had to kill to get our jobs, so maybe that's different.

You know your abilities better than I do, so do whatever pleases you the most. So long as I don't kill anyone I'm not supposed to while under your influence. ...I'd also prefer whatever you do to be painful.

Armitage was made of surprisingly stern stuff. And he had knowledge. A very dangerous combination, and yet he balanced it well, for a human.

I can make it very painful. It takes very little, especially freed as I am, to make dream wounds transfer onto your physical body.

Librarians are usually like that. Something about books and the slogan "Knowledge is power!" I guess.

Yes. That. Please. Do you want me to come to you, or do I go to sleep and it just happens?

That much is very true. It is also a very dangerous thing.

Simply sleep. I will take care of the rest.

It is.

Alright, I'm going to sleep in my old condo tonight then. So if you feel me move about two thousand miles? It's so that I don't mess up my masters' home. I'm not trying to run away.

Understood. You do not seem like the type to, what is the term? Ah yes. You do not seem like the type to chicken out.

Heh. You judge me correctly.

You are about to make me one extremely happy roadie. If you ever need anything from me, as long as it doesn't violate my oath, I'm at your disposal.
