...This isn't amusing in the slightest. How am I meant to take Cassandra home when I'm... wherever here is?

I don't see what was wrong with carriages, or horses.

...That's quite amazing. Since when have they been able to do that? Hephaestus was only ever able to talk to his chosen in their minds, after all.

Ah, there's a sign here. It says 'Broadway', if that helps.

Well, cars go faster. A lot faster. Traveling is much easier.

I really don't know. It's...well, do you know what a parallel universe is? It's like, if you have one universe full of planets, and then another universe full of planets. You've been transported from your world, to a new world that might be a lot like your old world, but where some rules might be different. On my world, for instance? There were no gods.

We're on Earth, in the year 2009. If that helps at all.

Broadway, yeah, I know where that is. Big city called New York. People there always seem pretty busy.

It must make things an awful lot easier.

A world without gods sounds terrible... and 2009? I'm so far off from my home that its ridiculous.

It's busier than Athens on market day. I've never seen anything quite like it.

It does, really. Like all things, progress can cause its own issues, but overall I'd say it's a step in the right direction.

It wasn't, really. I prefer to live in a world where there aren't unknowable forces controlling my fate. Sadly, I'm not entirely sure a lack of gods means a lack of that.

Yeah, it is pretty bustling. Think you'll be okay?

I... think I might be able to manage here. As long as I avoid those 'cars'.

I...would usually offer my impressive services, but I'm having some, uh, complex issues at the moment that keep me from doing that.

My best advice? Look for a little plastic card, it'll give you an address. Then go out to the edge of the sidewalk and start yelling "cabbie" very loudly. A yellow car will pull over. Get into the back of the car, and tell the driver the address on the card. Do not listen to anyone on the street that says they'll help you. You occasionally will find your streetwalker saints, but most of the time? They're people with guns and they don't want to help you.

I doubt people on the streets can ever be trusted... and I've never liked guns. Too much like cheating.

Thanks for your help, by the way.

Eh, a little bit. I've used guns and a sword...well, an energy sword, and I've gotten good with both. I can tell you there's worlds of difference between someone with no skill firing a gun and someone that's been trained in its use. The difference? Someone not trained in using a sword stand a pretty good chance of hurting themselves, but relatively little chance of hurting someone else. People untrained with a gun, on the other hand, usually at least know not to point the thing at themselves, so other people get hurt more often. Is that better? I'm not really sure.

Most people, as a rule, can't be trusted. I learned that the hard way.

No problem. Hopefully you'll be able to get where you're going, but if not, let me know. I might be able to sneak out if you really need a tour guide.
