Adelaide Newbury- Exploring the streets of London
Subject: Exploring the streets of London
Where: London
Who: Adelaide Newbury
Open to: Basically, anyone in London.

Adelaide was proud of herself and her excellent ability to sneak from the house without any of her nurses noticing until it was too late. Of course, there was a risk to this now that she was in London and staying with her father for a short time. As a Judge he was strict about the rules in his household but, whatever punishment she would get upon returning home would hopefully be worth it. She wore a soft pink dress that made her pale girl look more washed out than usual. The only bit of real color on her was the large bouquet of brightly colored flowers that she was currently paying for at a small flower shoppe.

Holding the bundle of flowers in her hand she exited back out into the sunlight, a light rose colored hat blocking the sun from her doll-like face and hollow eyes. She looked lonely as she traveled down the cobblestone street at a cause pace, a lost smile upon her young face. The city air wasn't a fresh as one could have wished, but it met the standards of the widow who had spent nearly half a year in solitude.

As she passed a group of young boys outside an Academy she hugged the flowers close to her chest and lowered her head, fear filling her once emotionless blue eyes. She wasn't all too found of their rough-housing.

Aimé leads her a little way away from the pond. "No, Madam. You must not think like that. It it hard, that is true, but it is not such a horrible place." He smiles fondly. "After all, new experience can lead to new ventures and new quintessences."

Adelaide followed him away from the pond, every so often allowing her gaze to linger on the flowers near the path. She finally forced a smile as she looked back to him and nodded in agreement. "I suppose you are right, Monsieur Laurent," she said softly. "It is just hard sometimes to look past all the negative things that have happened."

"But we should not dwell on them," He said, more forcefully than he meant to but he was in part trying to convince himself. The new life in England, although it had brought he new friends and Mercedes was still a shell of the life he had known in Paris and climbing the social ladder here was harder as he was starting not only as an outsider but as one completely without knowledge of the social morals. "If we do we shall only drag ourselves into despair."

I'm sorry. I meant acquaintances. I don't know where the other word came from!

Adelaide nodded in agreement. It was very easy for her to change conversations without dwelling on the previous one. She smiled as she delicately fixed a flower that had gotten a little squished in her bouquet. "Are you enjoying England, Monsieur Laurent? And your family as well? Do they enjoy it here?" she asked curiously as she glanced over to him.
