RIGGS & STEVE.

"So if I say darlin' enough, you might throw that one into circulation?" Not that it was a common word in his vocabulary either but it was the first stereotypical word he could think of. Riggs snorted softly and elbowed Steve good naturedly.

The next sip came with a pause, Riggs shooting a sideways look over at Steve. "If this is about my pants, I replicated a pair before I came down here. Figured that I might tear what I had climbing rocks and no one wants to see that. So that? That's taken care of?" He smirked as he shifted back to lean on his elbows. "I even got myself another shirt to go with them."

"Who knows, do it and find out," Steve said, rolling his eyes at the smartassery he was getting. He knew he could be a pain in the ass when he wanted to, but Riggs took it to a different level. A much higher level.

Was this what it felt like to be a dad? Because he was starting to get a headache.

"Riggs, it's not about your clothes," Steve said, scanning over said clothes and eyebrows furrowing further. "Well, not directly. Something's going on with you and for the life of me, I can't figure out what. So I can employ some advance interrogation methods or you can just tell me."

"Or maybe 'sweetheart'? 'Pardner'?" Riggs' drawl deepened slightly as he placed emphasis on it. That was one thing that seemed to work in his favor in California, the charm that the accent bolstered as long as he threw in a polite word or two. Well, unless he was sitting on top of a suspect he'd just tackled. Then the bad words hurled in his direction just kept coming.

Riggs grunted softly, the bottle lingering on his lips as he tried to avoid that conversation for a few moments longer. "Remember when I said you reminded me of Rog? I take it back, you sound like Cahill right now." And like Cahill, with the stubbornness imbued in them in BUDs, he probably would use advance interrogation methods on him. "I'm fine. I am fine. I got shit to deal with, we've all got shit to deal with. I am dealing with my shit." His shit that he'd been in Mexico dealing with but that didn't matter. "So you don't have to worry about me. I am entirely fine, out here in space. New adventures and all that."

"You're really stuck on this, huh?" Steve asked, grinning. There was no denying that Riggs was charming as hell in that annoying way he was, but Steve didn't let himself get distracted from the conversation at hand. Because he knew exactly what Riggs was doing and he wouldn't let him derail this interrogation. Conversation.

A little more gently than plowing into the point like he normally would, would have in any other circumstance, he said, "So you're dealing with it by staying drunk and bathing as minimally as possible." He stated it as a matter of fact, letting it hang in the air for a bit longer, before he added, "I think you need a job. I know I need a job. You want to help me start a self-defense course?"

"You put a challenge down in front of me and how could I turn down one of those?" Aside from learning the ways of space, there had been a decided lack of danger and casework for him to bury himself in. He hadn't had much of a life outside of work in LA and now it was really biting him in the ass. Finding someone to annoy was the most work he'd done in days.

A slightly offended look flitted across Riggs' look as he picked at the neck of his t-shirt and took a whiff. All right, so he was a few days past laundry day, but still. "Well, if I don't want to drown, I have to take time away from experimenting with the quite extensive new varieties of alcohol around here," he stated, all too aware of what the point was. He had a problem, had a problem for a long time, and now there was another person willing to call him out on it. "You think that's a good idea? I mean, I don't want to embarrass you by taking your ass down in front of all these good folks."

Snorting as he shook his head, Steve said with a sarcastic tilt to his words, "I don't think we'll have to worry about you embarrassing me too much, Riggs. I think I'll be able to hold my own just fine." Which could be true, which might not be true. Riggs was a mystery when it came to his actual abilities. Steve had never seen him in action and the other man was a good bit younger than him. That would play in the other SEAL's favor.

"I still want you to do this with me, so you might as well agree to it now because I can get annoying when I get persistent." He smirked, remembering how he had forcibly recruited Danny into Five-0. "Ask Danny if you need references."

Riggs held up a finger. "Oh, you don't know what I'm fully capable of. If Rog was here, I'd tell you to ask him. Or Avery." Bailey and Scorsese hadn't given him the look yet, either because they weren't subjected to his wilder moments enough or they had a higher tolerance for it. "The DA has a damage total on file for me." Which they took up after Avery gave up on. He rest an elbow on Steve's shoulder, leaning against him. "I might be able to still give you a run for your money." Steve at least seemed like he kept in practice while Riggs...maybe not as much.

"Didn't give him much choice either, huh? Well, that worked out well for you." Given the lovey dovey way the two acted around each other, he'd say it worked out pretty damn well. "All right, all right, count me in. I could use something to do, like you said."
