Anything else exciting (or not so exciting) happen during the meet and greet?

Wallflower - Caitlin & OTA

Caitlin really thought she could mingle and get to know her fellow travelers. She wasn't hopelessly shy, and had managed to build up a decent repertoire of networking skills over the years, but once she got into the room, she couldn't help but feel—trapped. Terribly and hopelessly trapped.

Leaving immediately was probably not the best idea. That was more noticeable than standing by herself in the corner with her drink.

She was a lot more worried about the lack of sun. She hadn't worried about her cuffs doing their job in weeks, because her solar pendant was working perfectly. Here, though, without sun, she could feel their power draining, and draining fast.

The more she thought about it, the more her hand shook. She didn't notice as the wisps of cold enveloped and circled her fingers. Before she knew it, her club soda was frozen solid and her glass fell to the floor, shattering on impact.

Wallflower - Caitlin & Bucky

Bucky had stepped off to the side, wanting to give Steve a chance to mingle without Bucky hovering near, probably scaring off any of his potential new friends. He was, of course, trying to take in the new faces, wanting them to at least be familiar, and to make sure none of them were recognizably HYDRA.

The sound of glass shattering pulled him from his observations and he turned to the source, offering a hesitant smile as he approached. "Are you alright? Careful where you step.."

"I'm all right, thank you," Caitlin said as he approached, managing a smile. She was glad her shattering glass hadn't drawn everyone's attention. She picked a few pieces of glass off her shoe and brushed it out of the way. "I'll have to let someone know to get it cleaned up before that melts everywhere. I'm Caitlin, by the way, and I'm afraid I have a bit of a—cold personality."

"Bucky. Well- James, actually, but I prefer Bucky. I'm sure we can get somebody to help with that. But it's nice to meet you." He glanced down to the glass, realizing belatedly that nothing had spilled and everything was actually frozen. "Are you new to the ship, too?"

"It's nice to meet you, Bucky." She smiled a bit more, this time more naturally and took a steadying breath. "So, what brings you over here rather than enjoying the mixing going on in the rest of the room?"

"Oh, I'm not really- groups like this are difficult sometimes. Too many people I don't know, you know?" Bucky shrugged a little, looking back out to the crowd. "One on one is a little easier.."

Panic Attacks - Elsa & OTA
[info]stormrageon

She was trying. Really, she was. Anna would probably say something about how she needed to be more friendly, to smile more and to greet people. That was easy for her to say. Anna was naturally friendly and sociable and made to blend in with people. No one would ever say that about Elsa.

She didn't do crowds well, and there was a significant number of people there. Not coronation crowd worthy, but a great deal of them just the same. Despite her recent efforts at controlling her powers, she'd chosen to wear gloves to the gathering. She'd been so stressed the last couple of days since arriving and adding more people to it didn't seem in the best interest for testing her resolve.

Yet even under the gloves, she could feel the ice forming on her hands. The tightness in her chest, the waves gripping at her stomach. She shouldn't have come. People would get hurt, they wouldn't understand, she should stay away.

Rushing to the door of the lounge, she leaned against the wall just outside of it. She couldn't breathe. What she needed was fresh air and she knew she'd be getting none of that here.

A ripple in the Force drew Lomea's attention to the blonde woman as she rushed outside the lounge. Interesting. She excused herself from a conversation with a particularly boring Ensign and followed. A glass lifted off of the refreshment table as she passed it and she exited as it flew into her hand.

The doors swished shut behind her, and she regarded the panicing woman for just a moment before speaking. Lomea sounded a little lyrical when she spoke, though her tone was dry and her accent similar to the British. "Is everything all right. Elsa, is it?"

Ordinarily she might have noticed something as amazing as doors closing without any effort. But the technology of the Enterprise and the magic of the woman coming towards her were both lost on her in that moment. The world was spinning in front of her eyes.

What she should have said was 'yes, I'm fine,' and convinced the woman to move on. Instead, she shook her head furiously, her eyes clamped shut. "I shouldn't be here. Why would it bring me here?" People would get hurt. People always got hurt around her. She could even feel the air chilling around them as she spoke.

Forcing several deep breaths, she fought to feel in control of her body again. "I'm sorry. I'm very sorry." Which was probably a ridiculous thing to say just then as she hadn't actually done anything to the woman who'd kindly checked on her, but there she was, babbling it just the same. Some royal she was going to be.

There was power in this woman, and Lomea could feel the cold as something familiar and welcome. The Force could be cold, sometimes. Particularly the Dark Side.

Lomea was drawn to power, and there was that part of her that remembered what it had been like to suddenly have power thrust upon her. Not that she'd ever admit that. So she was intrigued.

"Whatever it is, it has chosen us. I've learned over the past few years, that when such powers will it, it is best to use it to your advantage, or get out of the way."

Best to start with the basics before trying to use the Force to calm her. Or to outright cheat with a mind trick. She held out the drink, her voice calm. "Drink this. Breathe deeply. No harm will come to you here."

She said no harm would come to her, but she had no way of knowing Elsa's real fear was harm coming to others. All because of her. This being that had brought them to this place would soon see what a mistake it was. It had to. This wasn't right. She'd had a hard enough time adjusting in Arendelle, and that was home.

Though she gave a sarcastic little laugh, she accepted the drink as her breathing slowly started to steady. "Some powers have no advantage." Which wasn't entirely true. She supposed with enough thought she could see the advantage of her skills. But they certainly hadn't served any positive purpose in the past several years.

Slowly she sipped at the drink in her hand, grateful that it didn't taste too out of the norm. Some things of this new world and time were too much too quickly for her. "Thank you," She finally said, her voice a bit hesitant.

Like many things, fear could be used. Better to use it yourself than let it control you. If she was reading her right, there was fear in the way Elsa stood. Back in the Empire, she would have to learn to control it, or die. That had been the way of the Sith. A way that Lomea had wanted to change and a line she'd toed for years. Somewhere between the utter madness and stupidity that was the Sith and the disgusting altruism and self-righteousness of the Jedi.

"Perhaps you've not found the advantage, yet. Give it a little time." Lomea swept her hand down the hall. "Would you like to go for a walk? I believe they have some kind of arboretum or botanical garden. It might help set you at ease."

A walk. She could do that. "Are we allowed?" It felt a strange thing for a queen to be asking. But this wasn't home. Maybe it never would be. Not really. Truthfully, she didn't want to settle in. She wanted to be home, making up for over a decade of missed time with her sister and exploring her castle. Instead, she was in an entirely different world, with people like this one - Lomea, her nametag said - who looked at her as if they knew her. As if she hadn't spent the better part of her life avoiding letting people know her.

There was, admittedly, a tiny streak that wanted to visit those gardens whether they were allowed or not. She'd spent her whole life trying to be perfect, preparing to someday take the throne. A little hint of rebellion never hurt anyone. Right?

"You are a queen and I am a Sith Lord," Lomea told her. She'd noticed the scratched out word and a member of the Dark Council really did only answer to the Emperor.

She flashed a rebellious grin of her own before offering Elsa her arm. If nothing else, she showed no fear. "We go where we want."

Lomea had gotten herself into trouble more than she could count by both going where she wanted, and making unusual acquaintances.

Though her cheeks flushed slightly, Elsa spared only a glance down at her nametag. She supposed she could have been more thorough in crossing it out. It wasn't that she wasn't proud of her title. She just hadn't exactly gotten time to use it.

She did not, however, accept the offered arm. She couldn't touch anyone, not when she was like this. Her powers were erratic at best, and this was not best. This was more towards worst. Still, she did start walking. "What's a Sith Lord?"

Maybe talking about someone else would help keep her calm. Help keep that magic at bay.

Lomea said nothing about the slight, simply dropping her arm. Another Sith Lord might have gotten angry. Lomea sounded matter-of-fact. "The Sith control a vast empire, stretching across thousands of star systems. Those within the empire who show the necessary powers and personality are trained. Those who survive the training become lords. Those who are ambitious and cunning enough, obtain the title of Darth. I had my own fleet, a seat on the Dark Council. And I did it without the usual body count. I suppose I remembered what it was like, before I was Sith."

She walked along with Elsa, folding her hands into the sleeves of her white and red robes. "Tis better to be loved, than feared. Wouldn't you agree?"

People were more loyal that way.

So she'd worked for her title. Trained for it. Meanwhile Elsa was there, having been born into royalty and almost throwing it away. Admittedly, looking back on it, she felt a cold chill at the thought of Hans in her throne. Anna she would have been fine with, but that man? Absolutely not.

"So you're used to space, then." That seemed so strange to her. That there were many others used to this sort of travel. To her, space had always been where she could wish on stars. Where the sparkling lights held her attention on lonely nights.

Better to be loved than feared. She once again got the feeling that Lomea knew her more than she let on. "I've always been feared. It was never my choice."

"I am. It was my only home for a time." Lomea missed her personal ship. Though it wasn't all that warm or inviting it had been useful. It had felt like home, at a time when it had been the only place she had, before she'd become Darth Imperius.

"Fear can be useful." Lomea stopped in front of a door. It opened when she waved her hand in the direction of the controls. "To hold others in line. To give yourself something to focus on. But you cannot let it control you."

She smiled, one corner of her lips quirking up. The Force told her much, though not everything. She had to guess a lot of the time. "It is so easy to let it control you. Clearly, you do not wish this. So what is it you wish? Perhaps I can help you. This is not well know, but I was afraid once."

True to her word, the room was filled with plants. Flowers and ferns, and even a few trees. One of the botanists was on duty, and she nodded at him.
