Ordinarily she might have noticed something as amazing as doors closing without any effort. But the technology of the Enterprise and the magic of the woman coming towards her were both lost on her in that moment. The world was spinning in front of her eyes.
What she should have said was 'yes, I'm fine,' and convinced the woman to move on. Instead, she shook her head furiously, her eyes clamped shut. "I shouldn't be here. Why would it bring me here?" People would get hurt. People always got hurt around her. She could even feel the air chilling around them as she spoke.
Forcing several deep breaths, she fought to feel in control of her body again. "I'm sorry. I'm very sorry." Which was probably a ridiculous thing to say just then as she hadn't actually done anything to the woman who'd kindly checked on her, but there she was, babbling it just the same. Some royal she was going to be.
