"Planning a party?" Yang said, leaning in a little bit after approaching. She was pretty familiar with party planning, having worked with Weiss for the school dance. Even if Weiss had insisted on doilies.

She'd come hoping to see Blake, but had gotten curious as to what Mary was up to.

"Yes, actually," Mary said with a smile. "A tea party, technically. Have you ever been to one?"

Had she ever heard of one? That was the real question. People here were from such different times and places that one never knew what was common in a person's home world or not.

"Not since my sister was yay high," Yang said, holding her right arm out about waist high. In contrast to her skin, it was painted black and yellow and looked almost metallic. "Don't think I've ever had one as an adult. I helped plan a dance with one of my friends. That was pretty fun."

There was a wistfulness in her voice. Yang missed her friends. At least she had one of them here, but her sister and Weiss weren't, and neither were any of the others. And if some people could come here from being dead, maybe there was a chance for a couple of them.

Mary spared her arm a glance, though she wasn't particularly shocked about it. Apparently being in space was enough to desensitize her to most things that would be considered strange in her time.

She could certainly understand Yang missing her friends, though in Mary's case it would be her family - particularly her son, her brother-in-law, and her father.

"They're quite popular in my time and place. Though technically they wouldn't be considered parties, I suppose, since we had tea nearly every afternoon."

"So what's the difference between tea and a tea party then?" Yang was genuinely curious, and like all things she gave Mary her full attention, even if she was awkwardly standing there. It was rude to just sit, and Yang was trying to temper her normal behaviors.

"Would you like to have a seat?" Mary asked, motioning to the booth across from her. It was rude to leave her standing there.

"I suppose there isn't much of a difference," Mary said with a shrug. "I just wouldn't call tea time back home a party, since it happened every day. Here it would be a one time occurrence." Or perhaps it would be a more regular thing, if people enjoyed it and wished to have it again.
