Welcome to the Yorktown Observatory Restaurant

Instead of the usual social gathering in the Deck Five Lounge, the Enterprise reserves a private room at the Yorktown Observatory Restaurant, which features food and drink from all over the galaxy and was built with all transparent materials, giving off the effect of actually dining directly in outer space.

OOC Information

These weekly posts are IC third-person threading opportunities. Threads that extend to 10 total good-sized comments can be counted as a log for activity check. If you have any questions, please let me know. The hope is that you will use this opportunity for random character interactions and development.

Lucifer had to handle it to the space people of the future, they sure knew how to design a venue. He's have killed for such a set up for Lux, only without the having to leave earth and travel over two hundred years bit.

Glancing around he spotted familiar faces, but there was one he'd yet to properly speak with that left him intrigued. Yes, Kirk was young, but that suggested to Lucifer that he had a lot of drive and a desire to prove himself, traits he understood. Quickening his stride as he walked over to the man, he greeted him cheerfully. "Hello, Captain. Enjoying a night off?"

Jim looked up as Lucifer approached him and grinned. "I always enjoy a night off," he said, raising his bottle of beer - his beverage of choice - in greeting. Even though it wasn't really a night off. Sure, he was off-duty - he wouldn't be drinking a beer if he was on duty - but that didn't mean he didn't have his communicator with him, in case there were any problems or questions with the maintenance on the Enterprise. He told his crew he was always available if something came up, and he stuck to it. "Mr. Morningstar, please, take a seat."

	"Lucifer, if you don't mind. Mr. Morningstar sounds like I'm in trouble." He paused. This was the Captain of the Enterprise after all, and Lucifer had just spent a night in the brig. 	"I'm sure a night in the brig helped enough so that you won't be doing it again," Jim said, though the corner of his mouth quirked a bit like he was trying not to grin. 	Finding that only made Kirk all the more likable, Lucifer grinned. "Right. No more throwing tables around. Or anything of the like." He signaled for the bartender to drop by and then asked Kirk, "What sort of beer are you drinking?" That wasn't usually his preference, but he'd tried about everything else there was. He leaned forward, his elbows on his thighs, as he considered this information. "I can't decide if that would be a blessing or a curse," Jim said. He thought for a moment. He wasn't sure if the Yorktown stocked Romulan ale, but if anywhere did, it would be here. He motioned for a waiter to come by and then leaned up to ask him if he had any of it in stock, a special favor, only one finger's worth here to him and no one else. The waiter, who looked a little dazed to be talking to the captain of the Enterprise, nodded and hurried away. "An experiment," Jim said with a smirk to Lucifer. "You don't mind, do you?"

"Now this seems like a promising experiment," Lucifer agreed eagerly. He'd never been intoxicated a day in his life, and his life had been very long. He tried not to get his hopes up too high, but this certainly had more appeal than simply going through each drink at the Lounge one by one.

"At best I get drunk and at worst I die?" That was a bet he was willing to take, especially as he was still immortal. It was also possible the captain hadn't meant that literally, but who knew when it came to alien forms of alcohol.

"I'm afraid not," Lucifer replied easily, looking over at Kirk, who appeared to be possibly regretting his decision to experiment. But Lucifer wasn't the sort to hesitate when faced with new possibilities, so he took the glass and drank it down.

Placing his glass down on the table, Lucifer looked at Kirk. "Well that tastes terrible, doesn't it?" Really terrible. Of all the liquor Lucifer had sampled aboard the Enterprise, none had compared to this Romulan Ale. It was awful.

And then he laughed, suddenly and unexpectedly. "What the... "

	Jim drummed his fingers against the tabletop and his smile grew as he watched Lucifer examine the drink and then throw it back nearly immediately. He narrowed his eyes, laugh lines crinkling the corners of his eyes, and he waited. The stuff was awful. If Jim never tasted it again, it would be just fine in his book. "Enjoy that?" he laughed. 	"Bloody hell, Captain," Lucifer said, eyes wide. "I believe that went right to my head." He had to look at Kirk for a moment, as his vision was getting slightly fuzzy and it took him some time to bring the Captain back into focus. "Is it meant to work this quick?" "Alright? I'm bloody brilliant," Lucifer declared, laughing. How could he be anything but brilliant, really? "This is absolutely fascinating, the way my head feels like it's in this massive swirling fog that feels all warm and fuzzy."

Lucifer paused. "Did I just say warm and fuzzy?" He laughed again. Because it was warm and fuzzy and he was just going to embrace it.

	Jim laughed again. Now this was a little bit more exciting and entertaining than he expected. "Honestly, I didn't expect it to work," he said with a shrug.
