Troi and Lucifer

Declan turned and took in Lucifer, glancing up at him considering he was taller by a good few inches. He shook his head. "Of course not," he told him. "I know when there's a time and a place for both, especially pleasure. It's just that here, this mission and research is important, isn't it? One could argue life or death even, and considering that one of the lives is yours, I would think you'd want me to be working all the time." Which was also his way of declining a different drink.

Lucifer shrugged, and took a sip of his own drink. "No one should be working all the time," he mentioned. "It's simply not healthy, Commander."

As to his own life, he wasn't too concerned, given his own immortality. There were, however, people on this ship he cared about which was surprisingly unselfish of him to consider, and that caught him slightly off guard. "Life and death, huh? We're not all about to die are we? Though if we are, that would be even more reason to give into pleasure now."

Troi technically wasn't a traveler or crew member on the ship, thus he was outside the realms of Lucifer's self-imposed rules.

"Believe me, I know what's healthy and what isn't." He realized he had chosen the wrong wording. "Death probably wasn't the best word choice there. No one's going to die, no, but life here or life where you belong, I suppose, would be a better why of looking at it. Tell me, Mr. Morningstar, what do you miss from where you're from?"

"The Detective," Lucifer answered, not bothering to explain himself. "Maze is here, but Dr. Linda, Ms. Lopez, even Detective Douche." He shrugged. "I'm still back there, though, so it's almost the best of both worlds now, isn't it?"

"I wonder though," he said, drawing it out, "how do we know for certain that you are there?"

"Well I don't know for certain," Lucifer replied. "I'm not omniscient like my father claims to be. But I seem to have done just fine during my last trip here. That is other than getting my wings back and losing my devil face. I would like my devil face back. Do you think your research can make that happen?"

"Ah, yes, that's right. You believe your father is the god spoken of in a terran religion, is yes?"

"Yes, because he is," Lucifer replied, sounding annoyed. "Is that a no on the devil face?"

Really, he couldn't see any reason that Troi was asking him questions if he wasn't going to help. Or sleep with him. Which would be a form of help, if he thought about it.

"You perceive that he is," Declan corrected. That was one thing he was seeing as an interesting pattern among all of the travelers. Such outlandish claims.

"Right. Well, you seem rather boring," Lucifer decided. For as accepting as the other travelers had been, this new Starfleet commander seemed rather dense.

"I'm not going to argue who I am or who my father is. If you can't get my devil face back or keep my wings from growing back, you're not of any use to me."

Well, unless he wasn't so boring that he'd sneak off for a shag but Lucifer was doubting that.

"Well why wouldn't it be?" Lucifer asked. He was sure Troi could come up with reasons but he'd just as easily dismiss them. "I would at the very least find a way to properly reward you," he added as an afterthought.

Declan glanced him over. "And what do you have that you'd offer as a reward?"

Well that was just insulting, Lucifer thought. "No," he replied. "You're welcome to test that if you want."
