Entry tags:616: betsy braddock, hp: molly prewett, mcu: michelle jones, mcu: natasha romanoff, mcu: peggy carter, mcu: steve rogers

Who: Everyone!
What: Steve's 'surprise' party
When: July 4th!
Where: The roof of the Enclave

The party will take place on the rooftop of the Enclave. There will be tables of finger-foods food and drinks laid out, including a few cocktails to go around. Tony has graciously volunteered to man the grill, passing out hotdogs and burgers and Torunn has brought the cake over to be presented to the birthday boy after dinner.

Attendees can gather, dance to the music (Big Band and 50s inspired), and socialize. Please feel free to interact with one another in the setting, bring gifts for Steve Rogers (if so inclined), and have fun with your character tropes below!

Did your characters come? What did they bring and or wear? What did they do and who did they talk to?

- James Rogers
- Lily Potter
- Peter Parker
- Rose Hathaway
- Sharon Carter

They are open for shenanigans!

All of mine definitely went.

Peggy was helping Natasha and Tony set up, decorate, etc. She will linger afterwards to assist with the clean up as well.

Molly would be curious about the American holiday and also birthday celebrations are lovely.

Betsy will happily toast the good captain.

MJ hasn't introduced herself to the masses, she almost doesn't want to because it's not exactly her style. She's skulking around, more interested in stealing food and then retreating to a quiet corner.

Natasha is, no doubt, trying to hook Peggy and Steve up. She'll be also hanging out with Peggy, Molly, and Betsy a lot, I imagine (or any other adult female who is interested).

Harry might try to hit on MJ. I find this amusing, sorry!

Thor brought a keg of Asgardian ale, an offering for Steve if he wanted to stand a chance at actually getting drunk. He’d advise anyone else to drink from it cautiously, including Torunn.

Amazing was there to shoot the shit with OG and meet The Avengers. 🕷🕸

Kill was mostly lurking, keeping the lowest of profiles, but there.

Scott doesn’t have the highest opinion of Steve Rogers in his universe (though I imagine he’d get along better with this one) and hasn’t really met anyone yet but probably showed up in time to see some fireworks.

  • Natasha: Clearly has conspired to set this whole thing up and will have fun playing hostess- which is a bit of a deviation from her usual cool personality, so have fun with that! She will be running around, making sure everyone is having a good time. She will also be giving Steve a hard time and might be trying to hook him up with Peggy.

  • Hary Potter: He's lurking in the back with whoever might be in his little 'gang'. Definitely might stir shit up later- start a fight, steal something, just rebel in general. Probably smoking.

  • The Doctor: She is having a grand old time! She even brought party hats, and is blissfully wearing one while talking about how she once took George Washington swimming.

Curiosity drove James to the party. He was annoyed at being stuck here, in some past version of Cardiff that was apparently all that was left of this world. A different timeline than the one he'd somehow been brought here from, but it seems destruction was a common theme.

He'd gotten the holographic message and gone to meet one Fredrick Fitz, as it directed, looking for answers, but all he came away with was a really old looking journal and the number of a room he could rest in. He was told the others would likely be at a party being held for a Steve Rogers. The name had to be a coincidence, right?

He was curious enough to make his way up to the roof and check this party out.

"You must be new!" Natasha smiled brightly at the young man who had recently arrived, approaching him and giving a nod.

"I'm Natasha Stark. I'm assuming you've had a chance to look around, hm? I know it can be quite disconcerting when you first arrive. Have you spoken with the Doctor?"

She looked toward the very person, who was happily engaging another party-goer in the story about one of her adventures.

    "She's rather....animated, isn't she?"

James could only stare when the woman who called herself Natasha Stark approached him. He barely remembered his mother, but he’d seen enough images to have a picture in his head and that coupled with the name made it easy to connect some dots, even if the last name was wrong.

“M-mom?” he stammered. It was the only word his mouth could seem to form right now. It wasn’t possible. His mother was dead. She couldn’t be here. But this woman had his mother’s first name and Tony’s last name. Could that really be a coincidence?

She looked confused when the boy uttered that word, staring at him with a perplexed look before smiling and shaking her head. "Well, I am afraid I don't know where your mother is, Sweetheart." Because it couldn't possibly be hers. She'd remember! Right...?

"You must have just got here. It's a bit disorienting at first. Maybe I could get you a glass of water inside? Have you eaten?" She was clearly hovering a bit, because it was all she could do to keep the situation in check. The boy was obviously confused.

Natasha had been supervising the party, floating around to talk from guest to guest and making sure her husband didn't burn the food (He hadn't. So far). She seemed to be completely at home with the role, far from her usual more calculated self.

She kept the conversations light, lingering mostly near the food table to ensure people were happy and that everything was refilled, though she would occasionally step over to a person here or there to welcome them in. Her manners were always on par and she appeared the perfect housewife.

    2022-07-08 12:50 am UTC (link)
Peggy was, for once, dressed up not so dissimilarly from the attire of her own era. She was in a getup that would not have looked out of place at a work holiday party. Only rather than the winter holidays, they were here to celebrate in the balmy heat of the most American holiday there was.

And also, mostly appropriately, the birth of Steven G. Rogers.

She made her way across the party, smiling and nodding at the other partygoers. Her stroll ended at the side of her co-conspirator, who was standing near the food table. Peggy's signature red lips curved into a smile as she greeted the other woman.

"This is quite the shindig," said the brunette, with a complimentary nod around the space. "You ought to be very proud of your handiwork."

Natasha would have been lying if she said she wasn't grateful for seeing Peggy coming up. As much as she loved throwing these gatherings, she owed the woman for her contributions and she counted her among her closest friends.

"You didn't do half-so-bad yourself," she laughed a half-lie and a coy smile. "I have you to thank for half of it, don't I?"

Her eyes were scanning the room already, keeping an eye out. It seemed natural to her to always be aware of her environment.

"Speaking of not-so-bad, have you had a chance to talk to the Birthday Boy just yet?" Cutting right to the chase.

Though he'd had some suspicions regarding her innocent "quiet dinner" (this was Natasha Romanoff after all, regardless of what was currently happening to her), he'd still admittedly been surprised by the levels she'd gone to for his party. He honestly hadn't expected such a fuss. But it was sweet of her, even if he would tease her later for the way she was so carefully making sure everyone had a full glass. Not to mention the grief Tony would be getting for the way he was happily tending to the grill.

After the initial surprise and greetings, he sought her out, intending to thank her properly in person. He held up his glass in a toast as he reached her, smiling. "Thank you again, Natasha. None of this was in any way needed, but I appreciate it."

When Steve came over, she brightened her smile and nodded, raising her own glass of punch in response. "Oh come on now, like I would just let you get away with anything less than this."

It was true. Steve was a good man and deserved a good time. "Besides, it's an excuse for the whole building to have fun. Who doesn't love a good party? Not to mention my husband over there's having a blast burning the hamburgers." She nodded to Tony who was probably doing a perfectly fine job with the meat.

"I love him, but that man and his grill, I'm telling you."

That made him laugh, ducking his head briefly. "You're right, I really should have known better."

She was right about that, with everything that had happened (and still was happening), it didn't hurt for them to have a chance to let loose a bit. What was happening to the majority of them was concerning in a number of ways, but at this stage not so concerning that he couldn't have a bit of a laugh about it, too.

Such as at the 'husband' she had just mentioned. He followed her gaze over to said man, raising an eyebrow. "He does seem to be enjoying himself." Which was still hilarious. Tony Stark, grilling burgers. "At least he hasn't tried to over complicate that one just yet. Avoids any more incidents like your poor dishwasher."

"Oh, don't give him ideas. Next thing you know we'll have an electronic arm throwing burgers all over the place." She smiled and teased. Sort of. Truth was, she was surprised Tony hadn't already had some sort of contraction assembled and ready for this party of theirs.

"He's a good man. He just gets a little misguided, sometimes." She loved him, right? Or so she told herself. Anyway, the party was in full swing and she had to play hostess.

"So, how's your dance card looking, Mr. Rogers?"

"It would be entertaining at the very least, you have to give him that." This was some...other version of Tony, sure. But Steve didn't doubt in any world Tony would be looking for ways to innovate and experiment.

Her question made him laugh again, smile just a hair more towards the bashful. "Ah, well. Bit empty so far. Maybe that husband of yours wouldn't mind if you helped me out with that?"
