Friday: December/5/08
Who: Nox and Belle (and all wedding guests, which is most of the charas in game)
When: Friday night
Where: The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
What: their wedding, FINALLY!
Note: EVERYONE is welcome to join in the fun. Normal group thread rules apply. Post the who/when in the subject line and have at it. If you have questions about the set up or location, just ask!
It was a cold night, but the sky was clear without a threat of snow. Nox wouldn't have minded. He liked snow, and it would have been a beautiful sight to behold from within the massive glass room. Still, the twinkle lights on the bare trees that adorned the courtyard were lovely. They added a touch of magic that would have otherwise been missing.
While the room was filled with supernaturals, all of them guests, the staff was oblivious. Every invitation to the wedding had clearly stated that there would be a great many people involved who knew nothing of the supernatural world, and all guests were expected to be discrete. So far, only Hesper seemed determined to misbehave, but Nox had expected and planned for that. He also knew that his sister wouldn't try to ruin his wedding. Her aim was only to make it more interesting. He'd prefer dull when compared to her idea of interesting.
But there was nothing dull about this evening. Nox had never been more excited in his life. He was also extremely nervous. His palms were sweaty, and his hands weren't quite still. But he managed to appear cool and collected to all but the most observant guests. His best man, Hale, could tell that Nox was a little scared. But no one knew Nox better than his partner of many years. They didn't see much of each other these days, what with Hale still living in Seattle, but the two spoke often. He gave Nox a pat on the back as the music sounded for the bride's march.
Nox calmed significantly when he finally caught sight of Belle. Actually, he was certain his heart and lungs ceased to function for several seconds. She looked breathtaking in her dress. He didn't dare blink, because he didn't want to miss a millisecond of her walk toward him. It seemed everyone else had fallen under her spell as well, because not a word was spoken, and every set of eyes in the museum was locked on Belle.
When she reached Nox, he couldn't abide by decorum. Unable to help himself, Nox pulled her to him and kissed her. It got a chuckle out of the crowd, and their reaction caused Nox to blush as he composed himself. He whispered, "My love, my Aphrodite." He then held his tongue until it was time to share their vows. Nox had put a lot of thought into his, but it was difficult saying them in front of a crowd. He was a reserved man, or at least that's how most people saw him. A good many of those gathered were probably shocked by the passion, tenderness, and eloquence expressed through the promises made in his vows. He loved Belle as he'd never loved another, and while it was difficult to put such feelings into words, he did his best to do his feelings justice. In the end though, what he felt could truly only be expressed in the way he stared at her and kissed her, again, when the justice gave the go ahead.
It wasn't some scandalous makeout session, but Nox locked his conservative nature in a closet to allow him to kiss Belle properly. He should have expected a few cat calls and hoots of approval, but Nox was caught off guard by them and blushed again. "Calm yourselves," he said with a sheepish smile.
The ceremony concluded with an announcement that the waiters and waitresses would arrive at the tables shortly to take orders, and that everyone was welcome to mingle and dance. The music was live at first, played by a talented jazz band, but later a DJ was brought in to spin popular hits.
