Who: Sylvie & Calvin
What: Shifter revelations and relational repair
When: Backdated to late April, 1925
Where: Rosier Manor grounds
Sylvie was not having a particularly relaxing afternoon. Oh, sure, it had started off well enough – a purposeless flight to help clear her head of the thoughts that crowded there. And perhaps, in her exhaustion, she stayed up a bit longer than was strictly advisable, given what she knew about her limitations. There were lots of perks to her songbird form: she loved flying, and the access it gave her to otherwise inaccessible places and...goings on. Less exciting was how very vulnerable the form left her. Especially when she had worn herself out and wasn’t paying as much attention to her surroundings as she should have.
She winged back down to Rosier Manor’s ground in an easy spiral and alighted on the edge of a birdbath. Given how tired she felt, she knew the better part of caution would be to take a drink and give herself a moment to rest before transformed back. Which meant that the best part of caution would have been to check her surroundings for predators before she turned her attention to the water before her.
She didn’t.
The cat leapt on her and knocked her to the ground, pinning her there with one front paw, the other raised to strike. It gave her enough of a start to send her bird’s heart hammering. For a moment, all she could do was flap her wings in a desperate flurry as she chirped out a tune that could almost be called indignant.
