Who: Erik von Brandt & OPEN
What: PARTY THREAD. If Erik has to turn thirty, he’s doing it with a bang.
Where: The Capitol Club, Los Angeles, CA
When: Forward dated to Wednesday, November 25; evening
Warnings: Let’s go with ‘expect anything’.

Erik wasn’t a complicated man.

Actually, that was a lie. Erik was a very complicated man, but he did a good job of pretending that he wasn’t. It helped that the superficial layer of rock star out looking for a good time wasn’t completely off base, even if it wasn’t all there was to him. For the night, though, it was the only part that mattered, because Erik had invited anyone who wanted to come to a party at the Capitol Club, and he was hoping that the turnout wouldn’t be disappointing. He was also hoping for at least some nice legs in short skirts, but hey, he’d live if he didn’t get everything he wanted for his birthday. Look, it didn’t hurt to ask, did it? He wasn’t forcing anyone into a miniskirt.

He might have pregamed a little before he’d headed to the club, but it had only been a few beers. Good, strong, German beer, but still just beer. Just enough to get him started before he stuck with whatever selection of beer the club itself might have had. Hey, he didn’t remember what a place had on tap, from visit to visit, especially if he hadn’t made it there in a while. It wasn’t long after the place had opened for the night that he walked in the door, grinning and ready to be the life of the party, as soon as anybody started showing up. His bandmates, of course, were expected to be there, because Erik would give them shit about it for a few months, until he came across something else to give them shit for, if they didn’t show up. You might think that wasn’t much, but Erik was pretty good at being a giant pain in the ass, if he really wanted to be. It was a gift.

Just to get the night kicked off on the right foot, Erik started off by buying a round for all of the early birds that were there with him, and raising his pint glass of dark ale to them all. “To thirty, the year where you’re supposed to magically be a real adult!” He didn’t stick around at the bar long, though. He had people to mingle with, and someone whose drinks he’d already promised to take care of for the night. Erik von Brandt was a man of his word.

Offering to buy Holly's drinks for the night had been an impulse, a fit of birthday fueled generosity. Erik didn't plan on going back on it, but following through meant that he needed to actually find her, first. That might have been easier if he'd actually met her face to face before, but he'd already had plans on the night when she'd announced her party... he might have gone, otherwise, because Erik didn't turn down parties very often. There was plenty of time for staying home and being boring when he got too old to party all night without wanting to die in the morning. Now, he only wanted to die a little if he spent the whole night before drinking. He'd heard that it got worse as time went on.

Sure, maybe the whole turning thirty thing was getting to him a little more than he'd like to admit, but was Erik going to sit down and really think through it and come to terms with his own mortality? Oh, hell no, Erik was going to enjoy himself, party until he forgot all about the fact that he was officially no longer in his twenties, that he'd have to remember a whole new starting number when he was writing down his age. His twenties had kind of blurred together, between the military, school, and the band. There hadn't been time to remember if he'd had a birthday or not. Now, though, he was pretty sure that this one was going to stick with him.

Wandering through the club looking for girls and asking if they were Holly was... probably not the best tactic to go with, but hey, Erik had to find her somehow, and his options were limited. It wasn't like he had her number, that would have been a little creepy to ask for... ignoring the fact that the whole thing might have been a little creepy, regardless. Hey, she'd thought his line was smooth, she could have turned him down flat if she'd wanted to. She hadn't, so... Erik tapped another dark-haired girl on the shoulder. "Holly?"

Holly wasn't always the type to take a complete stranger up on an offer like that, but she'd been planning on going to the party anyway, so why not? Besides, he wasn't a total stranger. She knew REDO, knew a little bit about Erik's reputation to know what she was probably getting herself into, so what was the harm? If two people were going into a situation with eyes wide open, there was really no downside, at least none that she could see. Besides, he was hot. When it came to her guy oriented priorities, Holly's (and Kate's) were pretty simple, truthfully. They liked to have fun.

At least he wasn't Noh-Varr.

... So far as they knew, anyway. She was pretty sure he wasn't, though, he was just another hot musician with an ego. There were plenty of those out there who weren't Noh-Varr. Holly had come with a few friends, and to be completely honest, she'd spotted Erik long before he spotted her. Call her cruel, but she was sort of enjoying watching him tap every other brunette girl on the shoulder looking for her (at least, Holly was assuming that's what he was doing. She could be a little full of herself, but she was pretty sure she was right about this one). You couldn't say the man wasn't dedicated.

When she finally felt the tap on her own shoulder and heard her name, Holly grinned, turning from the people she was talking to in her favorite party dress and came face to face with the infamous Erik von Brandt. Yeah, he was even hotter in person. Definitely promising. "That's me. Gold star for the impressive detective work, birthday boy."

Even if Holly had been unfortunate in the looks department, Erik would have followed through with his promise to buy her drinks for the night. The fact that she was almost too pretty to be real was a real bonus, though. He grinned, looking her over carefully, not even trying to hide the fact that he was checking her out. Technically not a miniskirt, but her dress still showed plenty of pale skin. That was good enough for Erik. No one ever took the miniskirt thing seriously. Shame, Holly had nice legs. Showing more of them would be a great move, for her, but Erik wasn't going to risk getting a drink thrown in his face by telling her that until he knew how she'd take the compliment.

"You know, I've always been an observant guy." Technically not false, even though what Erik had done so far wasn't exactly a grand investigative feat. He grinned, though, and winked at her, clearly joking... not that Erik was serious all that often. That was the great thing about being in a band, and being attractive; you could get away with being ridiculous in a way that other people never could, and even if people didn't get the joke they weren't going to disagree with you. Sometimes, Erik said the most ridiculous shit he could, just to see how far he could push it before someone other than his bandmates and their friends gave him that 'seriously, Erik?' look. (Jen's Significant Looks were always the best, though.)

Erik held his arm out to her. "Right now, I observe that you need a drink. Excuse us?" He turned his grin on the people that Holly had been talking to. "Sorry about stealing her, but I always keep my word to a lady." ...again, technically true. Unless he was promising that lady that he'd actually finish some kind of paperwork on time. Erik never kept his word about that, but no one expected him to, anymore.

Erik wasn't exactly a subtle guy, but Holly didn't mind. You didn't have to be subtle with her as long as it was mutual, and it was definitely mutual. Besides, she knew she looked hot. That was probably a little egotistical of her, but also, it was the truth, and it was nice to be appreciated for something she knew to be a fact. Erik wasn't shy about making it obvious that he was checking her out either, so hey, Holly didn't feel like she had to hide the fact that she was giving him a slow once over in return.

He looked like a Disney prince. That just wasn't fair.

Holly shrugged at her friends and laughed. "I'm sure they'll get over it, you being such a gentleman and all." Actually Holly was fairly certain that wasn't a word usually used to describe this guy, but that was okay. She and Kate had never really gone for the gentleman types, unless you were counting Eli. Obviously that hadn't worked out, and they were both a lot more comfortable with keeping things casual, just looking to have some fun with people.

Smiling up at Erik, who was still significantly taller than her despite Holly not being incredibly short herself, Holly took his arm willingly. "I do need a drink, so you should probably lead the way."

The fact that Holly was checking him out didn't exactly make Erik feel self-conscious. He might have been thirty, but he was still damn good looking. You had to be, to be successful in the music industry. He might not be front and center on stage, but you could bet that if he didn't stay hot, it would be all over the internet in no time. That was what being famous was like, after all. Everyone had something to say about whether you gained a few pounds. Erik wasn't about to, anyway; believe it or not, he was well aware that there was always the possibility of trouble starting, and he wanted to be in good enough shape to keep up, if it did.

Gentleman was the furthest from the usual description of Erik that he'd ever heard, but he didn't argue about it. He could play gentleman for the night, if she really wanted him to, but somehow Erik didn't think that was the direction this thing was actually going. If Holly had wanted a gentleman, she wouldn't have have gone for him in the first place. Everyone knew what Erik was like, and no one expected him to actually be a gentleman about it, when it came to what he did with pretty girls.

Physically, he and Holly were a good match, dark-haired, dark-eyed, and pale skinned. They probably made a very attractive couple, walking toward the bar arm in arm. Hey, it was important, whether you looked good with the person you were with, if they were technically your date... and, since he had promised he'd be buying Holly's drinks, and basically asked her to the party on the boards, as far as he was concerned she definitely was.

"So, what's your drink, or are you going to make me guess?" It wasn't like Erik was a pro at guessing a girl's drink, but he could make a good stab at it, sometimes.

Gabi/Riley

2015-11-25 04:38 am UTC (link)
Gabi had been a reincarnate for about a month when that girl invited everybody on the boards to come celebrate her birthday with her, but she hadn't gone. It was just a little bit too close to home for her, and she didn't want her family to find out that she was a reincarnate by seeing her walking into a party with a bunch of them. Not that she thought that any of them would actually have a problem with it, exactly, but it had been a long time since Gabi had actually let her family in on her big news. Well. Maybe her brother. The youngest one. The other two were as in the dark about everything as her parents were, and she wasn't going to enlighten them. It wasn't like they'd noticed when it was going on, had they? Just Gabi being Gabi, nothing to see there.

A party all the way across the country, though, that was far enough away that she wasn't going to accidentally run into any members of her family on the way there or back. She'd put on a red dress, done her hair and makeup, and dug out the flashiest jewelry she could find in her jewelry box. She looked nice, at least by New York fashion standards. Did people in California dress up to party differently? Maybe she should have checked that before she came, but it was a little late, now. Whatever, she still looked hot, and she would still bet that someone was going to buy her a drink before the night was over. God, she needed it, too.

Killer heels clicking against the floor as she crossed the club to the bar, Gabi opened up her purse and dug out her credit card to start a tab. The charges for Capitol Club might give her away, but she already knew that her daddy never looked at how she'd spent money unless she actually maxed out the card. One night of drinking wasn't going to do that, especially if Gabi managed to get someone to pay for most of what she had. She was kind of a lightweight, anyway, it wasn't going to take much to get her feeling loose enough to have a really good time. She just hoped that they weren't too picky about looking at IDs here, or at least that they hadn't hired anybody who could pick out a fake. Gabi's was the best that money could buy, but you never knew. Some people had a talent for it. "Give me a lemon drop!"

Riley was in a mood to both let loose a little for a night, and to also get out of Las Vegas for a little while, so the announcement on the boards about an entirely reincarnate sponsored party had really come at the perfect time. She'd never actually been to the Capitol Club, though she knew of it, and she was familiar enough with REDO at least. Honestly, it was impossible not to be, especially if you were a reincarnate. Those guys were everywhere these days, so Riley figured that at the very least, the party would be a good time.

When she wasn't at work, Riley wasn't one to really dress to the nines, but she did work in Vegas so she had a couple dresses stashed in the back of her closet on stand by for the occasional night that she actually decided to go out on the town with some friends. Tonight, however, she was going solo, and had decided to wear something lacy and black, which she felt a little more comfortable in then some of the more outrageous stuff women in Vegas wore. Not that women in LA seemed to dress all that more reasonably, but at least there was a lot less glitter involved.

She was sitting at the bar sipping on an apple martini (she mostly liked it because it was green, predictably her favorite color, but it was also insanely delicious) and eyeing the wallet just barely sticking out of the back pocket of the guy standing too close to her left when someone in a kick ass dress that was redder than her own hair approached the bar on her other side to order a drink. Riley flipped her long hair over one shoulder and flashed the girl in red a friendly smile, temporarily distracted from the wallet she'd been contemplating on taking as she tipped her drink before taking in a healthy sip. "Good choice. You mean business tonight."

Being spoken to wasn't completely unexpected, so Gabi was already smiling as she turned her head to look at the girl she'd squeezed in next to. Maybe making impulsive, snap decisions wasn't exactly the best way to be a responsible adult, but Gabi thought she had pretty good instincts, and they were telling her that the redhead was exactly her kind of people. Besides, if she was talking to someone, the bartender was way less likely to want to be rude by asking her for her ID, so even if those instincts turned out to be a bust, it still worked out to Gabi's benefit. If finding ways to get drinks without having to show her ID was a viable career skill, Gabi would be set on coming up with an impressive resume.

"When it comes to drinks, I always do. It took a lot of testing to find the cocktail with the best balance of alcohol content to taste." Not even joking. Gabi had made a point of trying out new drinks, when she'd first started going to clubs instead of house parties. So far, lemon drops got her fun drunk fastest without making her gag, which made them her favorite drink. Even when it came to her drinks, Gabi had pretty high standards. She didn't think that was being snobby, though, that was just being smart. Maybe it wasn't her lowest calorie option (Gabi had another go-to drink for that), but she wasn't thinking about that, at the moment. Right then, she was thinking about how to have the most fun on her first official reincarnate only outing.

She handed her card over when the bartender slid her a sugar rimmed martini glass filled with a pretty, pale yellow liquid, lemon garnish pointed away from her, then looked back over at the redhead. She had to look up to meet her eyes, even in heels, but Gabi had to look up to look most people in the eye. Finding someone shorter than her was kind of an accomplishment, and she celebrated it every time. She tilted her own glass, returning the salute, before telling her, "Hi, I'm Gabi."

She looked a little young to be in a club, but it was hard to judge a person's age just by looking at them these days. Riley was really tall, so even if she had been under age, it wasn't likely that many people would assume she was, despite her youthful face. This girl, though, looked both young and was lacking a little in the height department. Bad luck there, but there was still no saying for certain that she wasn't legal. Riley was just used to Vegas and all the guaranteed fake ID's that came with it, but hey, she wasn't one to judge. She was even one to sometimes help them get away with it.

"Riley," the red head returned the introduction with a grin once she'd swallowed down the sweetly sour drink. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see the bartender pausing, and Riley could practically anticipate the wheels turning in his head, maybe rethinking that decision not to ask for the girl's ID first, and Riley was quick to distract from the situation by continuing the start of the conversation. "Been here before? You look familiar..."

She let that suggestion hang in the air for a few seconds as she paused, making a show of squinting at the other girl before contorting her face to light up, as if the recognition had just now dawned on her. Riley was nothing if not a good actress. "Oh, I know! You've been to Vegas before, haven't you? I never forget a face."

Gabi was an expert at telling when she was about to be made, but normally she had to make up her own distraction. She'd been ready to spill her drink (on the bar, of course, not on her dress) and make sure to flash the bartender a good shot of her cleavage as she apologized and tried to clean it up. When Riley started talking about how she looked familiar, though, Gabi was smart enough to pick up the hint.

"Totally! I love Vegas, oh my god." Gabi had never actually been before in her life, but she'd seen enough movies to pretend well enough for the sake of someone, like the bartender, who wasn't a native. "Some girlfriends and I got a room at the Bellagio and stayed a weekend, once. The fountains are gorgeous." She watched out of the corner of her eye as the bartender shrugged and answered a summons from further down the bar.

Thank god. She really owed Riley one, now. "So, is that where you're from?" She guessed that Riley could have been faking the Vegas thing just as much as she had, but if that was what they were going with, they could both pretend, right? "That must be an amazing place to live."

David/Finley

Of course he was going to show up for this. David wouldn't miss Erik's birthday party for anything, aside from the fact that he wasn't usually one to miss a party at all. Not exactly true as of late, but after a few weeks of sulking, David was a little tired of it. Nothing about his current situation had really changed, exactly, and it wasn't that he was planning on ignoring it all now, he was just sick of letting everything weigh on him. Like it or not, he wasn't just living Dean's life, he still had to live his own sometimes too. There was time to hunt down Tali and make her pay for what she'd done to Hannah, and hopefully convince Hannah to stop chasing ways to get him out of this deal, but for now? It was time to go to a party and enjoy a night out for once.

He'd spent some time palling around with his bandmates, but Erik was on a mission to find some girl named 'Holly', so he'd departed early on. David wasn't phased, Erik was always on some kind of mission that had to do with a girl. In that respect he thought that Erik was maybe more like Dean than he was. David was already a few drinks in, and after a couple more, and after he'd wandered away from Andy and Violet having some weird kind of chick bonding moment, that was when David started to make some bad decisions. Starting with pulling out his cell phone.

David hadn't exactly addressed what had happened, but there was no room for ambiguity, no getting around what they'd done, and it wasn't as if David hadn't liked it. He actually couldn't stop thinking about it, his mind would always end up drifting to their encounter at the most inconvenient times, and now he was drinking, which meant at some point his mind started to fixate on it. David wasn't drunk, at least not so drunk that he didn't know exactly what he was doing, and he was still able to function well enough with a keypad, but he was also just drunk enough that he could blame the lack of sobriety on his life choices when he texted Finley. After he'd done it, and after he'd realized the potential consequences of their conversation (had he seriously just booty called a demon?), David was also just drunk enough that all he did was laugh to himself and go off in search of a less crowded area of the bar where he could maybe clear his head a little. A lot of good that would do him now.

It would be fair to say that David's text message had caught Finley off guard, not that he'd actually say so, himself. After all, Finley had been the one to break the silence between them after the argument that had led to an entirely off the books kiss; he'd assumed that he'd have to be the one to break the awkward silence that had fallen after that bizarrely intense fuck in David's dressing room, and he'd found himself strangely reticent about it. He'd thought he'd give it a full two weeks, try to let a bit of the experience fade from their memories, before he approached David again to see precisely what the lay of the land was, there, whether David could look him in the eye. Whether he cared for a repeat performance that Finley would maintain far more control of.

It was only three days short of that two week mark, of course, but David had taken that ball sitting, stranded, in the middle of the court, and fumbled about with it enough that Finley thought he wasn't mistaken about what sort of play he was trying to make. David Ryan had just given him a booty call, and that was the sort of thing that was entirely too delightful to pass up. Fortunately, Finley had more than enough work clothes that, worn the right way, made decently appropriate club attire... besides that, who didn't enjoy a man in a suit? David certainly hadn't had any complaints the last time they'd seen each other. The gray suit he'd worn during the day, tie removed and jacket worn open instead of buttoned, wouldn't be entirely out of place, he was sure. He could have thrown on a nicer shirt with the jeans he'd changed into once he got home, of course, and been equally club appropriate, but letting David see him dressed down seemed, somehow, more revealing than having stripped down in front of him entirely. Finley didn't pretend it made sense, but he didn't bite the bullet and just go to the club in jeans and a dress shirt, either.

It didn't take him long to change, and though the Capitol Club wasn't the usual sort of place that Finley spent his time, it was a significant enough landmark that he'd known instantly where it was. He'd popped into existence in front of the club, instead of inside, and joined the queue to get in the door. It took longer than he'd have liked, long enough for David to begin stewing on whether he should have texted Finley at all, he was sure, but not nearly long enough for the younger man to have changed his mind entirely. Not when David had been the one to ask him there, in the first place. Finley paid his cover charge and slipped inside, looking around for David. He spotted him immediately, as though his eyes were simply drawn to the man. Another quick teleport, and he was to him without ever having to push through crowds of people. He was, at least, kind enough to appear where David could see him, instead of behind him. "Miss me, darling?"

David had thought that maybe after a week and a half, the memories of their last encounter would have dulled enough so that it wouldn’t be quite so jarring to see Finley again, but that apparently wasn't the case. Not even close. It wasn't that David had trouble looking him in the eyes, but as soon as David saw Finley, appearing out of nowhere right in front of him, all those memories immediately came rushing back to him as if they were still brand new and fresh. He couldn't pretend that it hadn't happened, and they both knew it.

It wasn't exactly surprising to see Finley in a suit, despite the casual atmosphere of the club, and David wasn’t actually sure he’d ever seen Finley outside of a suit. Well, except for when he was taking off the one Finley had been wearing. David swallowed at the thought, trying not to seem too affected by it as he came to a full stop on the outskirts of the main floor, blinking in surprise at Finley's entrance. David probably should have expected it, considering how often Finley was popping in on him without warning. He'd just blame the slight stumble backwards on the fact that he was a little drunk.

He wasn't really a suit kind of guy, though he had worn them before. Just not if he didn't have to, and David wasn't exactly impersonating an FBI agent on a daily basis. He was wearing something appropriately laid back but rock, meaning jeans and a leather jacket, though now he was starting to rethink the jacket as a poor choice, feeling the heat on his body begin to steadily rise at being faced with Finley Melville in front of him. David grinned, taking an entirely telling sway forward that was meant to be a casual step. Definitely not sober. “You’d like that, wouldn’t you.”

Really, Finley had suspected that David might have had a bit to drink, to work up the courage to send Finley that first text, and continue to flirt with him in the ones following it. He wasn't entirely sloshed, but Finley could see the telltale signs of it. Eyes a bit bright, face a bit flushed, movement a bit less fluid, less subtle, than usual. Not that David was precisely subtle at the best of times, of course, but moreso than to stumble toward him like he had. Finley raised a hand, braced David's shoulder with it and squeezed, gently, before letting it drop again. "It is nice to feel as though you're appreciated."

Drunk or not, David did look good. The neck of his shirt dipped low enough to show a bit of chest, and Finley's eyes were drawn to it as if magnetized. He knew exactly what lay beneath that shirt, now, and while that should have killed a bit of the mystery, and a bit of the interest, it really didn't. Finley wanted to get his hands up under it even more, grip on to David's sides and pull him in again, press their bodies together. The flirtation, and fumbling attempts at sexting, of their texts, and the amusement that Finley had felt at David's try at it, flared into sudden intense interest.

"Isn't it, Squirrel? Nice to feel... wanted?" Finley licked his lips, eyes trailing David from head to toe. He certainly wanted David, and it didn't take any great observational skills to realize that David wanted him, too. He wasn't about to pounce, though, not so easily. Not until he could drag David off somewhere, of course. If David was willing to admit that he wanted it, of course. Somehow, Finley didn't think that was going to be a problem.

That small bit of contact with Finley's hand on David's shoulder, however brief, was enough to get his mind and his heart racing. It was like a sudden, electric shock, leaving David blinking and entirely distracted directly afterward once Finley had dropped his hand back down to his side. The last time Finley had his hands on him, David had been in a much more compromising position than this. A thought that had the heat rising in his face, though David's cheeks were already well flushed from the amount of alcohol he'd very recently consumed.

David hadn't been drunk at all during their first encounter, but in the aftermath, he found it was a lot easier to make a move with a little bit of liquid courage. He'd needed it just to make those initial texts, and being face-to-face with Finley now, he was glad for the slight fuzziness in his brain. He also couldn't ignore the way he noticed Finley now, the raw attraction at the front of his mind that made it impossible for him not to notice how he looked in that suit. How the pants hugged at his hips in a way that made David swallow, and it wasn't something he'd ever noticed on a guy before, but he noticed it on Finley.

They weren't as close as they had been the last time, but they were close enough that Finley had been able to reach out to grip his shoulder without straining, and close enough that neither of them had to raise their voices to talk, despite the noise of the club. David wasn't sure where exactly any of his bandmates were at the moment, not to mention anyone else attending the party who might notice him and Finley, but David was just drunk enough that he almost didn't care. Almost. Which was why he didn't immediately make a move to step any closer.

"Is that it?" David was drunk but he didn't miss the way Finley looked him over, eyes trained on Finley's face and lips slightly parted in an expression that could only be described as unadulterated lust. His voice was much huskier due to a combination of too much to drink and a lot of repressed sexual tension. "You want me to admit that I want you?"

Slowly but surely, Violet was tip toeing her way back into the music world. It had been strange at first. She'd gone to such great lengths to completely distance herself from it for so many years that at first she hadn't really known what to do with herself when she'd realized she was starting to get pulled back in. In the beginning it was just little by little. She'd met Finn, but they had connections outside of the music industry thing, the Peter and Tink element, that made her reconnecting with someone in the industry a little less jarring and intimidating.

In some ways Violet was still licking her wounds over her gigantic failures from the past, but none of her heavily publicized shit show seemed to bother him. At least, that's what she assumed, or else Finn asking her to record something with him was a little weird. Now Violet was back in a recording studio, and she'd become fast friends with Andy Lang from REDO. In the blink of an eye, Violet was right back to where she started, and honestly? She was starting to be pretty happy about it. She'd even been approached by a few people in here who recognized her from her hay day and excitedly pronounced themselves fans. That was nice.

This wasn't the first REDO sponsored party she'd been to, but Erik was clearly making good on his promise of it being the best of them all. Not that she knew him very well, but his reputation did kind of precede him. Violet was happy to have a couple drinks and talk with the other guys in REDO until Erik had gone off on his search for some mysterious Holly girl and a little while later David had wandered off with his cell phone, leaving Violet with Andy, arguably her favorite member of the band. Bringing two lemon drops back from the bar, Violet was dressed a little too edgy for such a straight edge bar, but she barely noticed the turned heads as she weaved her way over to Andy and handed her one of the shots. "Cheers."

Andy had never been a girl who was into wearing dresses or skirts. It was a trait that had pained her parents growing up who had wanted her to dress like a proper lady and had stressed the importance of dresses at piano recitals. For Andy, though, any time she wore one she felt uncomfortable, like she wasn't sure how to hold herself, or move, or even how to sit. When she had her way she stuck to pants. It was something that tabloids had attempted to pick her apart over, but it had never bothered her before. If all they had to attack her with was her outfits, she had to be doing something right, right?

And it wasn't like she didn't admire dresses. She thought they were gorgeous, and she sure as hell appreciated it on other women, it just wasn't something that she could pull off herself. It was why, despite the fact that she was at a party at a club, she was currently wearing a variation of what she usually wore. Ripped black skinny jeans, combat boots, a band tee (today's flavor was The White Stripes), and her leather jacket. She'd probably get hell for it tomorrow when the press covered the events, but she didn't care. She felt comfortable in this.

"You are by far my favorite person tonight," Andy exclaimed with a beaming grin as Violet handed the shot over. She held it up to toast before tossing it back, the sour lemon taste washing over her tongue pleasingly. She set the glass down on the bar so that it made a nice banging noise before she crossed her legs. "Next round's on me."

"Just tonight?" Violet teased, holding up her own shot before tossing it back with an expert flourish. Violet had never really been someone who had a lot of girl friends, so this was nice. Don't get her wrong, she'd had girlfriends, and it's not like she wouldn't have gone there with Andy if the opportunity had risen, the chick was hot. But real friends? Most women were usually either too intimidated by Violet or weirdly jealous. She'd been close with the other girls in her band, but those friendships had effectively ended with Violet's string of fuck ups and the band's demise. Violet hadn't actually spoken to them since.

The liquor was the perfect mixture of sour and sweet. Violet loved that about lemon drops, but she especially loved the sugary coating around the rim of the shot glass. After she'd tipped her head back far enough to toss the shot back and swallow down the sickly sweet and sour drink, Violet brought her head back upright and made sure to lick the rim of the shot glass clean of all the remnants of sugar left behind.

"Mm. God I love those. And hey, I won't say no to that," she laughed, setting down her empty shot glass next to Andy's and brushing a section of blonde hair out of her face with a comically thoughtful expression. It was entirely possible she was already a little buzzed. "You know, I feel like it's a missed opportunity that in a party that's ninety percent music industry, there isn't a karaoke machine in sight."

"You're a contender for 'of all time,' but I've gotta give the others a shot. It wouldn't be fair not to give them a fighting chance," Andy laughed. Hanging out with Violet was definitely, by far, a lot of fun. She loved her bandmates, she did, and they were practically family to her at this point, but sometimes she needed to hang out with people outside of them. People who were more of the female persuasion. Even Lailani was more like one of the guys than a girl friend, and there was nothing wrong with that, but breaks were needed from the metaphorical testosterone that suffocated the estrogen.

While Violet licked at the sugar on her glass, Andy got the bartender's attention to order more drinks for them. "Two dirty girl scouts. Make them doubles." She winked at the server before turning to Violet again, leaning her elbows onto the bar top. She was about to say something when one of the guys in the crowd--wasn't that the weird guy who was practically obsessed with David and Erik?--threw his phone in the air and fumbled like he'd been caught doing something he wasn't supposed to. Her eyebrow shot up and she laughed. "I don't think I'm ever going to get used to how weird some fans are..."

Andy drummed on the bar a little and sat up straighter when the server brought their drinks back. "Have you ever had these before? They're amazing. You're in for a treat if you haven't. And then we are going to seek out some microphones and set up our own karaoke, because I'll be damned if you don't get a chance to exercise those awesome pipes of yours for such a willing crowd."

Violet's attention was also briefly diverted to the weird commotion, noting the guy fumbling for his cell phone and the goth looking chick next to him who was clearly trying not to laugh. Violet raised an eyebrow, not recognizing him, but Andy seemed to. When she mentioned weird fans, though, Violet instantly understood. Beautiful Filth had never gotten quite as huge as REDO was now, but they'd still had their fair share of weird fans. Weird wasn't necessarily a bad thing either, unless that 'weird' eventually crossed the line into kind of creepy territory. That's when it wasn't so cool, but she wasn't getting that vibe from Andy, so Violet resisted the urge to get protective. Not that Andy couldn't take care of herself, but she was a lot newer and shinier to the whole being a product of fame thing than Violet was.

Besides, girls had to stick together. Just because Violet had never been one who had many female friends, didn't mean she didn't buy into that kind of idea. She valued female friendship, even if she didn't have much of it, but she definitely valued Andy. Being 'one of the guys' was all well and good, but there was no real bond there. As Violet was slowly learning, it was actually pretty nice have some people in your corner. And as bitchy as she could be with Tink as her co-pilot, that hadn't seemed to scare everyone away just yet, so hey, that was always a plus.

"They sound potentially... illegal?" Violet snorted and took her 'dirty girl scout', peering at it curiously before she clinked it with Andy's and threw it back. She already had it halfway down her throat when she heard Andy's suggestion, immediately starting to choke on the liquor, sputtering and coughing as Violet struggled to swallow it down before she croaked out a weak protest, looking a little panicked. Getting back into the studio was one thing, but singing in front of a crowd? Totally different. "What? Wait a minute, I wasn't serious...!"

By all definitions, Mark was famous. It wasn't a great kind of famous, his father was a giant asshole hated by most reincarnates, but he was as famous as a politician's son could be. Perhaps moreso, given how controversial his father's views were. He was like the Donald Trump of Senators, and unfortunately that meant that Mark was a famous pretty face. He'd been in tabloids since he was a tween, and he was no stranger to the pitfalls of fame. But fame for being a rock star? He didn't know what that was like.

He did know, however, what it was like to be one of the ravenous fans. There were times that he reflected upon his life choices and realized that he was toeing the line of acceptable stalking behavior. After all, he and Cadence already ran a tumblr blog dedicated to the members of REDO, which was a bit of crazed fan behavior in and of itself. He was also a complete wreck whenever he spoke to any of them in any capacity. Even as a superhero, working with the Justice League, Mark had moments where he turned into a complete spaz when talking to Owen.

Tonight was one of those nights where he questioned himself constantly. He'd sneaked out of the tower to the party Erik had announced he was having with one thought on his mind: pictures. He wanted pictures of the band at the party. He didn't have high hopes that he could keep it together long enough to have a good, solid conversation with any of them, so he kept his goals realistic. He just wanted at least one good picture of each of them for his blog.

He had out his phone, the camera app up and running and aimed at Andy Lang from across the room. If the person across from her would just move a step to the right out of the shot... "Come on..."

Mark, perhaps unsurprisingly, was not as stealthy as he thought he was. At least not when it came to his best friend, who could more or less read him like a book. Shae had noticed him sneaking out of Titans Tower almost immediately, and it hadn't taken her long to figure out where he was going. Her friend, teammate, and roommate, was many things. A beast boy, a vegetarian, a superhero... he was also a gigantic REDO fanboy.

As soon as Shae spotted the post about Erik's birthday party that was scheduled for tonight open on Mark's computer, she immediately knew where her friend was headed. Of course he couldn't resist an opportunity where every single member of REDO would all be in one place for the night, she knew Mark better than that. He had that weird blog about them, so Mark was most likely going to try and get some pictures, since she also knew he was usually too chicken to carry on any actual conversations with them. Even Owen, who was also a member of the JL.

Like any good friend, Shae followed him. Well, technically she waited an appropriate amount of time for him to actually get to the party, before she concentrated all her thoughts on the location and teleported right into it. Okay, so she wasn't being a good friend so much as she was being a huge troll. It was just really fun to mess with Mark sometimes. Shae spotted him, and without warning, she teleported again and popped up right behind him, leaning in close to his ear. "What are you doing?"

One would think that, being friends with Shae for as long as Mark had, he would have been used to her shenanigans by now. Or at least that he would work harder to cover up his trail with her so that he didn't leave himself so open for her troll-like interference with things. He loved Shae, she was one of the best friends a person could have surprisingly (despite her strange qualities), but he also knew that he was doomed once she decided he was doing something ridiculous.

Like now. Mark jumped, spazzing so hard that his phone flew into the air so obviously that Andy glanced his way in confusion. He somehow managed to catch his phone before it could hit the floor and smash, but his cover was definitely blown. He'd have to move on to another member of the band and hope he could circle back around and attempt to get a picture of Andy. His followers weren't going to be happy if he didn't get at least one picture of every member of the band. Crap.

"Nothing!" He answered too quickly, his eyes wide with guilt as he quickly tried to shove his phone into his pocket to hide the evidence. He'd already gotten a picture of Erik, but that hadn't been hard. The guy was all over the party, and tons of people were taking his picture as he kept tapping on the shoulders of brunette girls. It wasn't like he'd had to be super sleuthy to get it. "I was just..." He glanced around for an excuse, but there wasn't one to be found. One from his head it was. "Texting my sister. She's super smart but has no idea how to cook broccoli."

Despite Mark's epic spazzing, Shae remained cool and collected, as usual, watching her friend with a straight face as he flailed about for his phone. At least at first. It wasn't long before she was trying harder not to crack a real smile, because even Shae Holloway wasn't immune to her friend's more comedic antics. He might be kind of a social basket case, but Mark meant well, and Shae was pretty fond of him. But that didn't mean she wasn't also a little fond of messing with him.

He just made it so easy.

"Really." Shae clearly wasn't buying his story, crossing her arms over her chest and raising an eyebrow. He had to know that Shae, out of everyone, wasn't going to believe that story. She knew him too well, and there was no way that he was at a REDO sponsored party and wasting time texting his sister. They were close, but they weren't joined at the hip. Especially after... well, what had happened, with them and their father. It didn't always show, but Shae was pretty protective of Mark, so even if he hadn't been coming here tonight when he'd left Titans Tower, she still might have followed him. Just to be sure he was safe.

But he was safe, and he was here, and Shae thought that if Owen spotted him it might get awkward. Owen was their friend and teammate, but that didn't mean he'd always laugh off Mark's harmless but persistent stalking habits. "So you're not here taking pictures for that weird blog of yours?"

"I'm glad you find this so amusing," Mark pointed at Shae once his phone was secure and not in danger of flying into somebody's drink. She had barely cracked a smile, but for Shae that was practically peeing her pants laughing. Even Beast Boy was taken back by the fact that a smile existed. Not that Raven didn't smile, it just wasn't something that was common, kind've like meeting a liberal Republican. ...Right, he was never making a political simile again. That was way too close to his dad's territory for his comfort.

"My blog isn't weird," He replied immediately, even defensively. It had been the first thing he'd impulsively defended instead of the idea that he wasn't taking pictures, which in hind sight was stupid. It was going to be so obvious that he was taking them since he didn't deny it immediately. Even his quick follow up of "And I'm not taking pictures," wasn't convincing enough to make up for that fluke. He flailed a little bit and attempted to hide the phone in his back pocket as if she would believe him if only she didn't have picture proof.

Finally, he gave in. There was no point in trying to fight it. He had been caught red handed, and it wasn't like continuing to lie was going to make up for his lost picture shots. Throwing his hands up, Mark let out an exasperated sigh. "Okay yes, fine, I was taking pictures, but I still maintain it's not a weird blog it's an awesome blog. We gained like two hundred followers this week, and we're almost considered Tumblr famous. It's a big deal."
