Who: Erik von Brandt & OPEN
What: PARTY THREAD. If Erik has to turn thirty, he’s doing it with a bang.
Where: The Capitol Club, Los Angeles, CA
When: Forward dated to Wednesday, November 25; evening
Warnings: Let’s go with ‘expect anything’.

Erik wasn’t a complicated man.

Actually, that was a lie. Erik was a very complicated man, but he did a good job of pretending that he wasn’t. It helped that the superficial layer of rock star out looking for a good time wasn’t completely off base, even if it wasn’t all there was to him. For the night, though, it was the only part that mattered, because Erik had invited anyone who wanted to come to a party at the Capitol Club, and he was hoping that the turnout wouldn’t be disappointing. He was also hoping for at least some nice legs in short skirts, but hey, he’d live if he didn’t get everything he wanted for his birthday. Look, it didn’t hurt to ask, did it? He wasn’t forcing anyone into a miniskirt.

He might have pregamed a little before he’d headed to the club, but it had only been a few beers. Good, strong, German beer, but still just beer. Just enough to get him started before he stuck with whatever selection of beer the club itself might have had. Hey, he didn’t remember what a place had on tap, from visit to visit, especially if he hadn’t made it there in a while. It wasn’t long after the place had opened for the night that he walked in the door, grinning and ready to be the life of the party, as soon as anybody started showing up. His bandmates, of course, were expected to be there, because Erik would give them shit about it for a few months, until he came across something else to give them shit for, if they didn’t show up. You might think that wasn’t much, but Erik was pretty good at being a giant pain in the ass, if he really wanted to be. It was a gift.

Just to get the night kicked off on the right foot, Erik started off by buying a round for all of the early birds that were there with him, and raising his pint glass of dark ale to them all. “To thirty, the year where you’re supposed to magically be a real adult!” He didn’t stick around at the bar long, though. He had people to mingle with, and someone whose drinks he’d already promised to take care of for the night. Erik von Brandt was a man of his word.

The fact that Holly was checking him out didn't exactly make Erik feel self-conscious. He might have been thirty, but he was still damn good looking. You had to be, to be successful in the music industry. He might not be front and center on stage, but you could bet that if he didn't stay hot, it would be all over the internet in no time. That was what being famous was like, after all. Everyone had something to say about whether you gained a few pounds. Erik wasn't about to, anyway; believe it or not, he was well aware that there was always the possibility of trouble starting, and he wanted to be in good enough shape to keep up, if it did.

Gentleman was the furthest from the usual description of Erik that he'd ever heard, but he didn't argue about it. He could play gentleman for the night, if she really wanted him to, but somehow Erik didn't think that was the direction this thing was actually going. If Holly had wanted a gentleman, she wouldn't have have gone for him in the first place. Everyone knew what Erik was like, and no one expected him to actually be a gentleman about it, when it came to what he did with pretty girls.

Physically, he and Holly were a good match, dark-haired, dark-eyed, and pale skinned. They probably made a very attractive couple, walking toward the bar arm in arm. Hey, it was important, whether you looked good with the person you were with, if they were technically your date... and, since he had promised he'd be buying Holly's drinks, and basically asked her to the party on the boards, as far as he was concerned she definitely was.

"So, what's your drink, or are you going to make me guess?" It wasn't like Erik was a pro at guessing a girl's drink, but he could make a good stab at it, sometimes.

There were two conveniently open spots towards one end of the bar, and once they closed in on them, Holly took a seat on one and immediately crossed her legs, making sure that her dress rode up a little on her thigh. Enough for him to see it, but not so much that it gave the entire cow away. At least, Holly was pretty sure that was how the saying went... Something about buying the milk, when you could have the whole cow? Wait, that wasn't right. Whatever, there was a saying that had something to do with a cow and its milk, that she probably shouldn't be concentrating too hard on right now considering how hot her date was.

Date might have actually been too strong of a word, but Holly wasn't sure what else to call it when the guy had more or less asked her here by offering to pay for her drinks for the night. An offer that Holly appreciated, but she wasn't actually intending on taking too much advantage of that. For one thing, Holly wasn't the kind of girl who really needed a guy to drop a shit ton of money on her to impress her, and for another? She wasn't exactly a light weight, so it really wasn't fair to the person who was buying her drinks. They would end up buying a lot of them, and Holly didn't need to be drunk to hook up.

Maybe she was getting ahead of herself, but she was pretty sure that was where this was inevitably headed.

"How about this. You guess it right in three tries, and I'll buy this round. It is your birthday, after all, even if you did steal my idea." Holly liked alcohol in general, though she was definitely a whiskey girl when pressed, but she was well aware that she didn't exactly look it. Blame her old man for that, back when she was stealing liquor from home the only thing he ever really kept around the house, when he bothered to be home, was whiskey. She'd drink it any which way, had a soft spot for whiskey sours, but she'd always take it straight up.

Erik noticed her move, making sure she showed a little more leg when she sat like that, and he approved. Hey, just because a girl was making a move that he'd seen before, it didn't mean that it wasn't a good one. It wasn't like it was any big secret that Erik was definitely a leg man. If she wanted to show him hers, he wasn't exactly going to complain about it. In fact, it would be insulting if he didn't look. He grinned appreciatively at the extra inch or so of pale, well-toned thigh. Man, these superhero chicks (yeah, he'd done his research, it was the smart thing to do), they had really great bodies. He thought he might be developing a type. Or would that be a fetish? Eh, whatever you'd call it, Erik was at peace with that.

"How did you know I can't turn down a challenge like that?" Erik made a show of thinking about it, not that he really cared whether he won it or not. He didn't care if she got the first round or not, he wouldn't have offered to pay if he did... not that he planned on getting too many. He wanted her sober enough that she'd know what she was doing if (when) he took her home with him at the end of the night. He might have been a womanizer, but he wasn't the kind of jackass that got a girl too drunk to say no before he made his move. He didn't have to be. Besides, his aunt had raised him better than that. She'd smack him upside the head if she ever thought he'd done something that slimy.

Holly's drink, though. She was gorgeous, and feminine, but he didn't think she'd go for anything as stereotypically girly as a vodka cran. No, she probably liked something stronger. Something that was more liquor than sugar and sweetness. "What about... a Long Island Ice Tea?" He didn't expect to get it right on the first try, but he watched her face while he asked, hoping that her expression would give him a clue which way to go from there, even if she didn't decide to take mercy on him and give him a few clues as they went. He hadn't asked for it, after all, she had no obligation to give him a hot or cold.

"Mmm, I just had a feeling," Holly grinned, nose crinkling a little with the slight upturn of her facial features. Of course that was all bullshit, but she figured... he was still a guy. Most guys liked some kind of challenge, and Erik seemed like the type who enjoyed a good challenge, especially when it involved someone you were potentially interested in scoring with. So what if she was pegging him a little? It's not like he was making it all that hard. Holly wasn't complaining, she wasn't looking for a mystery. Just someone to have some fun with.

And she was pretty sure he was that someone. His reputation spoke enough of that on its own (she may have done a google search on him before she came here), but the way she caught him looking at her legs, yeah, that made it pretty clear. Holly knew her move had been obvious, but she still pretended not to notice him looking anyway, keeping her eyes trained on his face. It was a really nice face. Nice cheek bones, good hair, full lips, warm eyes that you could just sink right into. Yeah, she could see how Erik von Brandt would be totally worth the heart break. Luckily, that's not what Holly had come here for tonight.

Holly bit at her bottom lip and shook her head, trying to keep her expression neutral in response to his first guess, but she'd never had much of a poker face. "Long Island? Good guess, but no. Though I appreciate the amount of liquor in them, it's missing the one I like the most." She'd be nice and steer him a little, after all, she wasn't looking for reasons not to let him get her a drink. If he needed a few hints, she'd be happy to give them. "You're cold. So cold."

Cold, huh? Erik leaned on the bar next to her, keeping his eyes fixed on her. Normally, he liked to let them wander, but it was just bad manners when he had a gorgeous date that he thought he had a very good chance of actually scoring with, by the time the night was over, if he was picking up the cues she was giving him correctly. There didn't have to be anything complicated about the night, or what they were doing. There didn't even have to be a challenge, though that did make Holly a lot more interesting than any of the girls who'd throw themselves at him just because he was in a band.

He ran through his mental list of what was in a Long Island. Most of the more common liquors were in there: tequila, vodka, triple sec, rum, gin... he guessed that she could still like something sweet, like a liquer or amaretto, but he still got the feeling that stronger was the way to go. Well, that, and she'd said she appreciated the amount of liquor. That wasn't the response of a girl that wanted something weak. So, logical conclusion... "Does that make you a whiskey girl?" Not that he knew Holly all that well, or at all, really, but he thought it suited her, anyway.

"Matches your eyes." Yes, he'd noticed the color of them. Erik hadn't only looked at her legs, after all, he'd taken in the whole package. Those pretty brown eyes were just as nice, and a whole lot more socially acceptable to compliment a girl on, when they were in public. Not that Erik had anything strong enough to call a preference, when it came to eyes, or hair for that matter. No, he could appreciate all of them, and Holly's were definitely worthy of some appreciation. A girl that pretty, with a taste for something that hard, that was the kind of woman that caught your interest.

"Bingo," Holly smiled, her smile widening to a full on grin at his compliment. A pretty unconventional one, as far as compliments went, but Holly was a pretty big fan of the unconventional. The fact that he noticed the color of her eyes at all was impressive in itself, typically guys that Holly met in bars didn't even bother, or were too drunk already to be able to see straight enough to tell colors apart. Total winners, obviously. Holly never usually gave those types the time of day.

"Can't say I've ever gotten that one before. A lot more original than asking me if it hurt when I fell. I'm a dancer, I fall all the time. Not very impressive." She wasn't actually the kind of girl who fell for any sort of pick up line, and she wasn't so easy that she would fall all over herself at the first sign of any compliments, but hey. The unique ones at least deserved a little recognition. Holly could be charitable.

The bartender came over to them then, looking expectant, and Holly turned to him with a smile. "Whiskey sour, please." Why keep beating around the bush? He'd at least gotten the 'whiskey' part right, no need to drag the rest out, and they should be a little considerate if they were going to be taking up space at the bar. As much as she tended to love whiskey by itself, tonight she was really craving that cherry on top. Holly turned to Erik, arching an eyebrow. "And you?"

A dancer, huh? That, Erik thought, explained the legs. Dancers always had great legs. Pair that up with the superhero gig, and it was no wonder that Holly had such an amazing body. He'd already assumed she was going to be strong, but dancer? That added flexible to the list, and plenty of endurance. Not to mention the sass, of course, a quality that Erik had always enjoyed when it came to women, especially ones that he might end up seeing more than once. As long as she wasn't going to go falling in love with him and plan on it turning into some kind of relationship, Erik thought that this was going to work out very, very nicely. Happy birthday to him, indeed.

He didn't gloat over the fact that he'd managed to avoid the kind of overplayed pickup line that would have been a point against him. If the rest of the guys who'd hit on her had missed comparing her eyes to her favorite liquor, then that was just idiocy on their parts. Erik was no idiot, and just because he liked to play the brainless playboy, it didn't mean that he was going to go the lazy route and use brainless playboy pickup lines to try to get the girl. That was why he got laid, and other guys got left behind... and it wasn't arrogance if it was true.

"Another pint of that doppelbock you have on tap." Another way in which Erik was a simple man: he would rather just stick with beer, especially if he planned to drag the drinking out to last the whole night. A good beer, though, none of the watery domestic shit that America liked to pass off as real beer. No, one of his only nods to his German roots was his preference in beer, and luckily for him, there was a decent one on tap that he planned to stick to, for the night. "I'm not hard to please," he told Holly. "At least not when it comes to drinks."

He seemed a little more keenly interested in the part about being a dancer, even if he didn’t voice it out loud, but Holly wasn’t surprised. Guys were pretty predictable that way, and Holly knew guys pretty well after developing quite the hobby of being able to read them over the years, in a million similar scenarios exactly like this one. She knew what they liked to hear, what would get their minds turning in a specific direction. Mention that she was a dancer, and there were suddenly a lot of insinuations that came with it. Holly knew that he’d be thinking about how flexible she was, the kind of stamina she most likely had, even just the strength of her legs, if he was such a leg man. Between dancing and training with the Young Avengers, her thighs were more muscle than toned now.

“A beer guy. I can respect that.” Holly didn’t hate beer, she just usually didn’t drink it unless she was at a house party and it was all that was left. Beer was too relaxing for her, she never drank it if she was looking to get a little wild. Now, Holly was a fan of most liquors, but when she went straight to the whiskey before anything else that night, that usually indicated that she meant business. Not that Erik would know her well enough to know that, but he would find out eventually. Holly wasn’t usually someone who beat around the bush for too long, she tended to see what she wanted and went after it. Colby and Lina might have been worrying over her not having a date, but the truth was, if Holly wanted one? Nothing would stop her from getting one. It was as simple as that.

The bartender brought their drinks over and Holly slid hers closer to her on the bar, fingering the rim of the glass as she laughed. That was an easy ‘in’ if she’d ever heard one, but she didn’t immediately comment on his claim of not being too hard to please. Even Holly didn’t like to be that obvious. Besides, it was still pretty early for that kind of talk. At least one or two drinks first. “And low maintenance too. You’re just the whole damn package, aren’t you? Here I thought it was your birthday, not mine.”

"What can I say, I'm a giving guy. I like to share my birthday with everyone." Erik gestured around them as a demonstration before he wrapped his fingers around his own glass and raised it to his lips for a long drink. He didn't even know most of the people there, but he was glad to have them anyway, whether they were deliberately there for his party or not. They were welcome to celebrate, anyway, and the more people there the better Erik felt about the whole thing. It was hard to sulk about being thirty when there were so many people there to help you break it in with a good time.

Erik didn't bother sipping his beer to make it last. It might be strong beer, but his alcohol tolerance was more than decent. It came with the rock star lifestyle, he guessed. No shortage of drinks after a show was done, just not too much before they went on stage. Erik had never made that mistake, but there'd been a guy in one of his first bands that did. It was a lesson learned secondhand, but after the guy got a concussion and a broken nose out of it, it was one that Erik was never going to forget.

Leaning toward her, hand still wrapped around his glass, Erik asked, "So, whiskey girl, having a good time at my party, so far?" He didn't know how long she'd been there, of course, and if she'd had a chance to do much before he found her, but that was okay. He was hoping the answer would be that she was having a better one now that he'd found her, anyway.

"That's very generous of you, Mr. Erik of Brandt," Holly responded in a mock serious voice, before her expression broke and she took a sip of her own drink. You could never go wrong with a whiskey sour, at least in her personal experience, but she'd never come across someone who didn't know how to make a good one. This one was particularly good. A little more on the sour side than sweet, and strong on the whiskey, just the way she liked it. Holly was pretty easy to please too, at least when it came to a whiskey sour.

Despite knowing that Erik was a celebrity, it didn't escape Holly's notice that people were staring at them. She probably should have expected that, and it wasn't like Holly wasn't used to some people (mostly guys) staring at her, but this was different. There were people, quite a few people, staring at Erik with obvious admiration and barely held together fan appreciation. The people that Holly noticed were staring at her out of the corners of her eyes, most of them were looking at her like they either envied her or wanted to kill her and take her place. ... Potentially both, given the intensity of some fans. People were crazy.

"It's a pretty good party," Holly conceded, as if she was admitting some kind of defeat, grinning as he leaned a little more towards her and shrugged. "Not as good as mine was, but that's okay. We can't all be pro's at throwing parties." She was obviously joking, but completely sincere with her follow up. "I'm having an even better time now, actually." What? It had already been covered that Holly was pretty shameless. Besides, she wasn't lying. She was already enjoying Erik's company more than the people she'd been hanging with previously. "What about you? Having a good birthday so far?"

Honestly, Erik didn't even notice the people staring at them, at him, anymore. They all blurred into the background, the kind of sight you got used to when you were up on a stage performing for a bigger crowd than what had shoved into the Capitol Club that night. He might have noticed if they'd stopped staring, if there was no one looking, but he didn't run any hazard of that happening, that night, when he'd made himself the center of the party by virtue of being the birthday boy. Only the most enthusiastic of fans really made an impact on his radar.

Sometimes, being truthful and keeping up the banter could actually be the same thing. Erik did like it when that happened, as much as the truth wasn't always completely necessary if the lie was for a good cause. This time, though, he was honest when he told her, "It's getting better, now. I've had better birthdays..." Twenty-five had been a real killer, he'd thought he was dying for a few days after. "But I think, if we really work on it, we can put this one at the top of the list." 'We' as in himself and Holly, of course. She was included in all his plans for the night, now, obviously.

He didn't think he needed to elaborate on what exactly it would take to make this birthday the best of them all. She'd get it, she seemed to be a smart girl. She wasn't leading him on, as far as he could tell, and she wasn't hiding that she wanted the same thing that he did. It was always easier when you didn't have to play games with it. He liked shameless. He liked it a lot.

"How'd you know I can't turn down a challenge like that?" She echoed him word for word, not mocking him, but with a deliberate note of irony in her voice. He didn't need to elaborate, Holly knew exactly what he was getting at. It's not like Erik was being very subtle, but there was still a bit of mystery left. Namely in the 'how' they were going to get to that tipping point of putting this at the top of the list, that was still largely undecided, and therefore that much more exciting.

It was her turn to lean a little forward into the conversation now, balancing her drink at the bar's edge and absentmindedly stirring it with her straw. It was a good thing that she was typically just as much of a player in this game as he was, she could tell a heart breaker when she saw one. He was probably one of those guys that even broke them when he didn't mean to, just by being himself, but the end result was always the same. Holly was often guilty of the same thing, so in a way, they were partners in the same crime. She didn't mean to, she'd just stuck to the promise she made herself a long time ago: Nobody breaks her heart.

She took another healthy sip of her drink, savoring the sour-y sweetness that coated her throat all the way down. Holly met a lot of guys, but Erik was already different, and not because he was a rock star (though that was definitely another first to check off her list too). No, the difference was that Erik, by all accounts, was a grown man. A whopping thirty years old, as of today, she hadn't missed that part on his post. Holly usually went for younger guys, purely because they were a little bit stupid and always looking to have some fun. Erik was older, though you might not be able to tell from the way he acted. Admittedly, she maybe found that a little bit charming. "I'm game if you are."

Erik could appreciate having his own words turned back on him. They were usually good words, and they did say that imitation was the sincerest form of flattery, didn't they? He just dipped his head to her, acknowledging the echo with a smile. "I guess you just seemed like the kind of girl that was up for a challenge. Looks like I was right." He'd have played the game a little longer, if it'd taken that to get her to agree to it, but he couldn't say that he was disappointed he hadn't had to. Turning on the charm was something that he did well, but it could get a little exhausting to try to court a woman when the payoff usually wasn't worth it, especially when they ended up thinking that it was going to be more than one night.

Holly, though, was meeting him in the middle, not leaving him to be the one to do all the chasing even though they both knew that she wanted it as much as he did. No, he wasn't the kind of asshole who thought that all women secretly wanted him, but he was well aware that, considering who he was, he had less trouble attracting attention than just any old guy looking to pick up a girl in a club. The truth was, most women just wanted guys to do the chasing. Like they wanted to be talked into it, instead of owning the fact that they were hot women, with sex drives, who wanted to have sex with a hot guy. The alternative was refreshing.

"I'm game," he told her, like there was any doubt. He was old enough to know what he was doing, and as far as he could tell, so was she. Not in age, there was no questioning that she was younger than him, but in maturity? Yeah, Holly wasn't some little girl trying to play in the big leagues before she was ready. Erik'd had his fill of those a long time ago, when it came to fans of the band who approached looking for a hook up, a notch on their bedpost. Erik didn't mind being a notch, but god he hated feeling guilty when they regretted it the next day. There wouldn't be any regrets here, on either end. Best birthday present he could have asked for.

Holly was always up for a challenge, whether it be boys or dancing or super hero-ing. Any kind of challenge that came her way, though honestly, when it came to guys she rarely ever found a real one. No offense to men in general, but typically, they didn't usually pose much of a challenge, at least to her. That just wasn't how guys were, they were always more eager to do the chasing because they were just as eager to get laid. It was in their wiring or something, but that didn't mean girls couldn't chase too. In fact, sometimes it was just better if you made some of the moves yourself. Holly had gotten pretty good at it.

"Looks like you've got me pegged," she shrugged her shoulders, like she was actually admitting some kind of defeat. Holly didn't mind the assumption, since it was perfectly true. He either knew a lot of girls like her (Holly's ego liked to believe that was doubtful, but in reality, it could very likely be true), or maybe he was just really good at reading people. Either way, she wasn't going to insult either of them by denying it. She really didn't understand the concept of playing hard to get, unless you were just a person who was into that sort of chase, but wasn't that just a little bit unnecessary? There were other ways to play the game that were a lot more balanced, and just as much fun.

In a situation like this, there would always be that small part of you influenced by something negative. Other people, or just society in general, telling you that you should probably feel ashamed. Kate was no stranger to it, but she and Holly were both of the opinion that that particular part of themselves was stupid, and just a product of the bullshit concept of slut shaming. They were young, they were healthy, and they liked sex. What was wrong with that? Nothing. Nothing was wrong with that. "So... Erik." Taking another sip, Holly then plucked the cherry out of her drink and put it between her lips down to the stem as some of the juices escaped onto her tongue. "What did you wish for when you blew out the candles? Maybe I can help make it come true."

It was official: Holly was hot.

Of course, Holly had always been hot. Erik hadn't missed that one, he wasn't blind. He'd spent a lot of the night thinking about how hot Holly was. It wasn't news. But there was hot, and then there was hot. There was long legs, whiskey colored eyes, and a dress that left just enough to the imagination, and then there was slipping a cherry past her lips teasingly, bright red juice smearing there. That was the kind of hot that made a guy want to lean in and lick it away, and Holly knew exactly what she was doing. That? That made Holly the second kind of hot, the hot of a woman who was aware of the fact that she was hot. Sure, hot that didn't know it was hot had its appeal, but tonight? Erik was really feeling this self-aware form of hot.

Happy birthday to him. Erik definitely wasn't feeling old, now, not when he was going to be taking that home with him that night. Or... to wherever. A hotel room was way closer, so Erik was kind of thinking that should probably be his choice of venue for the two person after party that he was planning in his head already. Since Holly wasn't the champagne type, they could skip that, but room service had more to offer than just a bubbly drink that Erik didn't really care for, anyway.

His eyebrows had climbed up toward his hairline, his eyes fixed firmly on Holly's lips for a few second before he managed to shake it off and realized that, hey, he should probably be answering the pretty girl whose lips he was planning on doing a lot more than just rubbing cherry juice on, that night. "I think you could do that. See, I wished for a pair of nice legs around my waist, and I think yours are the nicest I've seen here, tonight." Not that Erik had looked, since he'd located Holly. He wasn't a complete asshole, he wasn't going to ignore his 'date' for another random woman at the bar.

It was pretty funny, watching Erik’s eyebrows climb up into his forehead like that in the wake of her suggestive mouth tease. Holly felt a little bit proud of herself, as he struck her as a guy that didn't get taken by surprise very often anymore. Sure, the whole cherry thing wasn't exactly original, and it wasn't tying the stem with your tongue (Holly had never tried, but it sounded impractical), but people didn't usually expect that from Holly. Therefore, it was usually a surprise when she went there. What? If you went out with the expectation to hook up, why pretend like that wasn't what you were aiming towards? Holly didn't see the point in acting like she wasn't trying to provoke a reaction out of him with that cherry trick and her lips. And boy, did she.

Blunt. Incredibly blunt, but Holly fully appreciated the confidence in his response. It also provoked some pretty powerful images to cross Holly’s mind all at once that had her even more invested than before. Flashes of sweaty bodies crashing together, legs wrapped tightly around his waist, her hands clutching hard to his back
Erik looked like he had a really nice body under those clothes, so she didn't feel like her imagination was far off. Holly really liked sex. She wasn't going to be one of those people who were ashamed of that, especially when faced with someone as scorching hot as Erik von Brandt. Maybe that had been too forward, too fast, after all they hadn't even finished their drinks yet, but sometimes Holly really liked forward. Mystery could get a little boring.

Holly plucked the cherry off its stem and crushed it inside her mouth, swallowing it down carefully before she smiled widely at him, genuinely pleased with his response. Though that didn't mean she wouldn't still give him a hard time about it. “Wow. Do you practice that one in front of the mirror?” She laughed, obviously not deterred, and went back to stirring the tail end of her drink as she teased him, silently thanking her good fortune that he was apparently a leg man. It was one of her best attributes, Holly thought, where she somewhat lacked in the rack department. “You're lucky I'm a waist girl.” Then she dead panned. “You've got a really nice one that I'd love to put my legs around.”

"No, I was just inspired by your legs." Hey, Erik could give a compliment where a compliment was due. "You've got nice legs, I've got a nice waist, it's a match made in heaven." Not that Erik thought that, if there really was some sort of heaven, he'd have any chance of getting in. No, Erik von Brandt was much more likely to end up hanging out with David's demon buddy, in any kind of afterlife that he might end up in. That meant that he should really just enjoy what was in front of him while he was still alive to appreciate it, didn't it? And there was plenty about Holly to appreciate, and he'd already waited more than long enough to get started doing it.

He abandoned his drink, moving in closer to her and resting a hand on the curve of her waist. "That cherry looked good." Not that Erik needed an excuse, and not that he thought she would buy it even if he'd been seriously trying it. Besides, what she'd been doing with her mouth was much more interesting than the cherry itself, and it would have been an insult to seriously pretend otherwise. "Going to let me have a taste of it?" And sure, he could let her have a chance to respond, but he knew what the answer was going to be. They both did.

Instead, Erik leaned in, pressed his lips against hers. They were sticky, sour from the drink and sweet from the cherry when he touched his tongue to her soft bottom lip. His were probably bitter from his beer. It might not have been the best combination, any other time, but Erik thought they tasted just fine. Strong and intoxicating as the whiskey in Holly's drink, when he tilted his head to kiss her just a little bit deeper.

Holly was already expecting the move, by the time he abandoned his drink and moved in to slide his hand around the curve of her waist, but that didn't make it any less enjoyable. Holly might have been kidding about being a 'waist girl', she wasn't actually sure waists was really a part of the body that people ever got overly excited about, but one thing that she definitely liked? Hands. She liked a nice pair of hands, and Erik's were very nice. They were large, with long fingers, and they felt as strong as they looked with one now on the curve of her waist.

There were plenty of other things to appreciate about Erik, from his generally good looking features to the nice head of hair, his full lips, the dark brown of his eyes that matched hers, and Holly could see even more clearly with him up close. Once he moved in, Holly had abandoned her drink entirely too, trapped between the bar stool she was sitting on and Erik, and she'd never been happier about being cornered. Erik was the kind of guy who could give as good as he got, and matched her as equally as she matched him. Holly really liked that in a guy, truth be told. If all of that was already evident about him, then that said a lot of good things for anything else that happened between them tonight.

He didn't give her a chance to respond, but she didn't really have anything to say that couldn't be said in other, more beneficial ways. Holly smiled a little as he leaned in fully, tilting her chin up to meet his kiss and pressing her lips back into his just as softly, almost achingly slow. He did taste like beer, and Holly had never minded that less, making a small noise of approval in the back of her throat at the touch of his tongue to her bottom lip. She took a little initiative of her own when he tilted his head into it, parting her lips just enough so the tip of her tongue could slide out and taste his. Head spinning a little from the kiss, or from the whiskey, or both, Holly brought her own hand up and slid it around the back of his neck, threading her fingers into the ends of his hair.

The touch of their tongues together was almost like fire. Scorching hot. Erik hummed his approval against her lips, pressed just a little more firmly to his as she returned the kiss. Still gentle, though, still just stoking the flames. They had all night, after all, there was time for a slow burn instead of something that flashed white hot and passed before it was acceptable for the birthday boy to leave his own party. After all, Erik couldn't just abandoned all these people that had come out to wish him happy birthday, could he? Of course he couldn't. That was just bad publicity. Bad for his image. A man's image was important, in his line of work, just as important as it would have been in politics... but Erik could get away with a little more, being a rock star, than he could have working for the government. Once more, he thought that was really a good call on his part.

Erik slid his tongue against Holly's, slipping it just past her lips to taste the inside of her mouth. The sweet-sour flavor of her drink was stronger there, mingled with something that, he thought, could only be the natural taste of Holly's mouth. It was a good mix, and he hadn't even deepened his explorations as much as he could, yet. From the hand on the back of his neck, Holly didn't want him to stop any time soon, and Erik was more than happy to satisfy her. After all, he'd be a poor host if he left his date wanting anything, wouldn't he? If Holly wanted him to keep kissing... it wasn't like it was exactly a sacrifice.

His other hand cupped her face, thumb tracing over her cheekbone as he kissed her, still as tender as an open-mouthed kiss could be. The hand on her waist squeezed, still gently, but showing her exactly what kind of strength was in his big hands. Those hands could be dangerous, sure. Even without his gloves on, Erik could be deadly in a hand-to-hand fight. Holly wouldn't know that about him, unless she'd done more digging than he thought... but why would she? It was just a hookup at a party. The knowledge that Holly could give as good as she got was alluring, even though Erik would never even consider using his strength against her. The point, though, was that even if Erik dug the gloves out of the pocket of his jacket, Holly could probably take him in a fight, and that was hot.

One thing was for sure: Erik von Brandt knew how to deliver a hell of a kiss. Not that Holly had thought he'd be all talk, but hey, it wouldn't be the first time she'd encountered a guy that was all ego and no real follow through. Luckily, Erik seemed to have both fronts covered, and Holly couldn't say that she didn't like it. As long as he made good on his promises, he could have an ego as big as planet Earth and Holly probably wouldn't care. It's not like she was looking for anything serious, just something casual and fun, so it's not like she really had to worry about any real personality flaws. This was short term at best, which was honestly how she preferred it. Just enough time to enjoy a person's more likable qualities without getting to know their worst.

She smiled a little against his lips as he hummed, more difficult with her own lips slightly parted, so it was really just the corners of her mouth that twitched upward. Holly didn't make a sound in return, but she felt the same way, the gentle pressure of Erik's lips on hers just as enjoyable to her in the moment. Even more enjoyable was the slight slide of his tongue into her mouth, and Holly immediately tilted more into it, leaning a little bit further into the kiss than before. They couldn't get too carried away while they were still at the bar, even with as shameless as Holly was, she still had some sense about her. There were certain things that were just better left behind closed doors, but the promise of those things, something they would no doubt be making good on later that night, was enough to have Holly kissing him a little more enthusiastically for a few moments longer than she meant to.

With his other hand cupping her face, Holly did utter a pleased noise deep in her throat as he traced over her cheekbone, her fingers curling a little more intently into his hair with that squeeze to her waist. Oh yeah. Those were really good hands. They were already making her feel a little like jelly, so that was only promising. Sliding her free hand forward to give his upper thigh an innocent squeeze, Holly delved her tongue a little more purposefully past his lips, leaning heavily into the kiss before slowly pulling back for a much needed breath, taking his bottom lip with her a centimeter before releasing him. Despite her previously cool and collected appearance, she was already a little flushed, and definitely breathless once she pulled back from the kiss, brown eyes glittering with interest. Holly didn't go far, lips still mere inches from his as her eyes opened lazily, fingers slowly releasing their hold on his hair as she spoke in a more husky tone. "Wanna dance?"

Erik's favorite thing about kissing Holly was definitely that she gave as good as she got. Actually, Erik was growing fonder of that by the second, with each slide of their lips together. No, he wasn't all talk, but neither was Holly, and if a kiss was that good... the rest of the night was going to be even more amazing. Especially once he got her into bed and got those long legs wrapped around his waist. He could feel himself starting to respond to that squeeze to his thigh, to her hand so close to his dick. If he'd been younger, he would have been in real trouble, might have embarrassed himself by getting hard as a rock right there. Benefits to being thirty, he guessed, by the time she pulled back he was just feeling a little... tingly, a little extra blood flow in response to the promise of attention. Not yet, though. Definitely not yet.

From Holly's flushed face, she was feeling it, too. Erik grinned at her again, pleased with himself, but even more pleased with her. Their faces were still intimately close, it would be easy to press in for another kiss, and then another. Enough of them, and he'd forget about the fact that he'd probably better stay longer than this at his own party, and call a cab to take them to a hotel. Enough kisses, and he didn't think that Holly would object to that plan, either, not from the husky note to her voice when she asked if he wanted to dance. There was a time when he would have jumped on the promise of that squeeze to his thigh, her flushed face, that husky voice. He'd have jumped on it and dragged her off. Now, it was enough to just know that he could, that the option was going to be there when he wanted it, because there weren't any games to be played.

Besides, Erik liked dancing just as much as the next guy. Which meant that he appreciated the chance to rub up against a hot member of the sex he preferred, because dancing really wasn't all that much fun, otherwise. Dancing with Holly, though, that sounded like a hell of a lot of fun. "Only if you promise to show me some moves." He stepped away from her, used the hand on her waist to draw her down from her bar stool. The floor was starting to get crowded, he'd completely lost track of most of his friends, but hey, if they weren't having just as much fun as he was, they only had themselves to blame. He had a date on the dance floor with a girl who knew exactly what she was doing.
