Who. All members of Camelot & invited guests
What. Halloween party!
Where. Camelot Castle (Glastonbury, England)
When. Forward dated to Wednesday night, 8PM, October 31st 2012
Warnings. Let’s keep it PG-13, folks. There's kids present.
It was Halloween night and everything had been put away for the big event. No more medieval weapons lying on the kitchen tables, blueprints and battle plans had been rolled up and stuffed into corners. Instead of an empty hall there was a huge room covered in decorations of orange and black just past the foyer. There were tables upon tables of all the Halloween themed food and desserts that you could possibly think of and more, and huge cauldron shaped bowls of spiked punch with the appropriate ladles. There were a few tables with food and drink laid out especially for kids, since more than a few Camelot members had children of their own. Strategically placed cobwebs were hanging from corners of the ceiling and broomsticks lay propped just outside the entrance to the main hall like umbrellas, with a handmade sign that read ‘Please leave all broomsticks and other flying contraptions by the door’.
By eight o’clock the place was already packed, largely because a certain number of guests had already been at the castle when the festivities had begun. The severity of the storm in New York over the last few days had given Camelot the chance to open their doors up to members seeking shelter, so the kitchen was already warm from cooking food for the masses and the remaining rooms throughout the castle had been hastily made up for anyone else wishing to stay the night after the party as well. Everyone was busy and out of breath when the first of the outside guests began to arrive, but the end result was rewarding. Nearly everyone in Camelot had turned up, and most of them had brought friends. Whether they were potential recruits or not didn’t matter tonight, tonight was about having fun, and the night was already off to a good start. They didn’t have too many chances like this to let loose.
The castle itself was probably intimidating to behold as an outsider, and only partially because it was completely hidden. If you were a non-Camelot affiliated guest you were greeted by card carrying members at the London MTN, then escorted by limo half an hour away to a hidden rendezvous point where another MTN system (one created specifically by Camelot and not licensed by the Agency so its existence remains unknown to them) was waiting. From there, you would appear on the other side in Glastonbury, where you would be escorted to a lake and asked to repeat an oath. Because of their enemies, Camelot has many secrets, and the details surrounding the location of the castle itself including how you get there is a secret that must be kept for member's safety. Swearing the oath means you consent to keeping Camelot’s secrets as an outsider and understand the consequences if you attempt to break said oath. No one has ever tried, so it can’t be said with certainty what would happen to you, but the magic surrounding the oath would ensure that not a word left your mouth. It’s said to be painful.
Once you’ve sworn, you’re escorted up to the castle doors by boat, which you would not have been able to see with your own eyes until the oath is sworn. The mist surrounding the castle protects it from view of people who don’t keep Camelot’s secrets, but once you do, the mist actually parts for you in a very Arthurian fashion. All this is extremely ominous and maybe even a little creepy, but rest assured, everyone inside the castle is more amiable than an outside guest might expect after the ordeal. All members and guests are led up the steps lit by Jack-O’-Lanterns and straight to the main hall once they’ve arrived, with coats graciously ushered off of them. There’s a DJ playing toward the back of the room and everyone is already drinking and dancing in costumes. People are encouraged to explore the castle too, but of course advised not to if they have a problem with ghosts. Camelot has more than a few roaming around the place, but the Morgan/Evans family assures everyone that they’re all very friendly. Happy Halloween!
