THE BRIEFING

“I am afraid since the fall of our Dark Lord we have become remiss in our duties. That will not stand. The mission is far from over. If anything we now have more work ahead of us.” Arlo walked around the circle, quietly daring any of the others to speak or move. “We have not fallen. We will not go quietly into the night. We shall take up the reigns left before us and strive toward creating a safer and more secure community. One where we are the men - and women - in charge, not the likes of traitors or mudbloods. You swore once to protect our way of life. Do not falter in those words now. Rather be smart, be clever, and never yield or lay down your wand.”

“All of you should be ready in the days and weeks to come to answer our call.” Arlo glanced back to Avery - arms across his chest, sneer on his face - and Nott was tucked off to the side unmoved by any of these words. “For now the Lestranges will be leading missions. You will remember your place and respect their command.”

“Now, should anyone have any questions or comments now might be the time to speak.” This was most certainly a trap. Questions were not welcome. However, after a moment of silence, Arlo would dismiss the group.

While Peter wasn't dumb enough to speak up, he couldn't necessarily hold a straight face as Mulciber dismissed them. That was it? There were some sort of 'missions' on the docket, but other than that no information being given. Did they even know about the horcruxes or were they just holding the information close to the chest? Whatever these missions were might shed some light on what exactly the situation was on this side of the fence.

Coming from Mulciber, this was almost coherent thought and decent planning. Lucius assumed Nott was pulling the strings. Lucius left promptly when dismissed and returned his transfigured robes and mask to their nondescript form.

This made Lucius's to speak with Rodolphus both more important and more difficult. If he'd become attached to the old triumvirate, he'd likely be suitable for Plan A only, and not Plan B.

Still, he wondered how many of the remaining 'Death Eaters' were thinking that Rod and Rabbit were leading missions and how many were assuming it was Rod and Bella.

No assignments. No missions. Nothing but an invitation for questions that was very obviously a trap. Disappointing, but Clarissa didn't step into it. As soon as they were dismissed she Apparated away to begin contemplating the possibilities in the coming days, vague as they remained at the moment.
