THE SUMMONING
[info]questling
2019-03-16 11:14 pm UTC (link)
At 5 PM a summoning goes out over a mixture of official and unofficial channels calling the Death Eaters to meeting. It is to start promptly at 7 PM. And although not said, those not at the meeting will be considered traitors and disposed of.

Please include any reactions or preparation you’d like here.

Rodolphus was not surprised when he received the summoning. It was past over due. Even he could see that as the DMLE started to begin new rounds of investigations his peers were getting somewhat eager as to what came next. He didn't have that worry. In sometime after Rabbit had killed their father and Bellatrix awoken from her healing trance, he had found his resolution.

At least he didn't have any plans tonight that couldn't be rearranged, just dinner at The Park. So, he would have time to prepare and wonder what great performance might unfold tonight as the triad of commanders tried to maintain power.

And he would be sure to arrive just a few minutes early to be neither the first nor the last on site.

Peter couldn't say he was particularly surprised to be summoned by the Death Eaters after having the Order meeting the other day. If the Order knew that the Dark Lord was not 'dead', in certain terms, then he suspected the Death Eaters knew as well.

While he didn't feel particularly inclined to go, he needed to know exactly what information the other side knew and who was going to come out on top. Being beholden to Lord Voldemort hadn't been a great time, but if the Death Eaters could promise to keep him alive then he was willing to give them another go.

Receiving the summoning makes Bellatrix drop everything she's doing to prepare—except that two minutes into this rush of excitement, it sinks in that the Dark Lord will not be there. That slows her enthusiasm, but she's still very, very curious to see what their supposed superiors will have to say. If they will take action, or continue to sit on what Lord Voldemort built.

She arrives about ten minutes early in pristine robes and her mask, looking every bit the high-ranking Death Eater that she is.

Lucius was expecting something and this was not the worst he had anticipated. For all that he wasn't interested in elevating Edward Nott to the role of leader, he was willing to watch the moves of the remnants of the Dark Lord's confidantes and decide what response they merited.

It wasn't going to look any different from answering the summons.

Lucius retrieved his robe and mask from the underground vault, cleaned and repaired them, and was off to the forest of Dean, wondering who might be foolish enough to fail to answer at this early stage in the endgame.

Ooh, a summons! Clarissa had gotten to missing those, a bit. They made life a great deal more interesting if nothing else. She cancelled her evening's plans- no great trial, they'd promised to be dull anyway, and she was known to be flighty enough that it didn't elicit comment- and arrived promptly on time like a good girl. No excuses to execute her will be forthcoming tonight!

Rabbit is less than thrilled about being dragged off to the wilds of Gloucestershire on a Saturday night, at the behest of his Dad's mates, no less. But there's little sign of all his face pulling, he shows up masked and cloaked and, most importantly, timely.

STATE OF THE DEs
[info]questling
2019-03-16 11:16 pm UTC (link)
It had been too long. And with every day Arlo could see their tentative hold on the group slipping. Charles was eager to hurt something, and Arlo ready to prove himself, Edward Nott was quite content to sit back and watch it all play out. It was he who figured out the truth of the secret, or rather it was he who elected that now when power rested on a precarious precipice that he might use such knowledge to provide clarity of purpose. Then it was simply a matter of quietly meeting with the right people.

Needless to say, Edward Nott was not looking forward to the piece of theatre unfolding in the Forest of Dean. But it seems to soothe Arlo and Charles would have his moment, so he’d let him have what they needed and just wait for his moment.

One by one the ranks filled in, gathering in a circle in the clearing. Of course Edward knew them all by their masks, tallying each. Arlo and Charles didn’t bother with their masks, nor care to mask their expressions.

At one past the hour, Arlo placed a hand on Charles’s shoulder. His face curled into a cruel grin waiting for the next pop. “You’re late.” It was all the warning given before he blasted the fool with a cruciatus curse. He held the curse for what seemed to be too long, not bothered by the screams. As the body dropped to the ground, Arlo merely stepped over it and into the middle of the circle.

“Now, shall we begin?”

[FLASH REACTIONS BELOW. IF ANYONE ELSE IS FOOLISH ENOUGH TO COMMENT OR STEP OUT OF LINE THERE MIGHT BE A REPEAT PERFORMANCE. CHARLES IS RESTLESS.]

Rodolphus didn't falter. Instead he was trying to take stock of the masked figures around him. Who had shown up tonight, who was missing. He needed to put together a team. And it seemed he would need to be a bit more diplomatic about it than with threat of pain and brute force.

Well. That certainly made it very clear who intended to fill the power vacuum left behind in Voldemort's wake. Clarissa was careful not to flinch, twitch, or evenbreathe quickly; this was not the time or place to single herself out.

THE BRIEFING
[info]questling
2019-03-16 11:17 pm UTC (link)
“I am afraid since the fall of our Dark Lord we have become remiss in our duties. That will not stand. The mission is far from over. If anything we now have more work ahead of us.” Arlo walked around the circle, quietly daring any of the others to speak or move. “We have not fallen. We will not go quietly into the night. We shall take up the reigns left before us and strive toward creating a safer and more secure community. One where we are the men - and women - in charge, not the likes of traitors or mudbloods. You swore once to protect our way of life. Do not falter in those words now. Rather be smart, be clever, and never yield or lay down your wand.”

“All of you should be ready in the days and weeks to come to answer our call.” Arlo glanced back to Avery - arms across his chest, sneer on his face - and Nott was tucked off to the side unmoved by any of these words. “For now the Lestranges will be leading missions. You will remember your place and respect their command.”

“Now, should anyone have any questions or comments now might be the time to speak.” This was most certainly a trap. Questions were not welcome. However, after a moment of silence, Arlo would dismiss the group.

While Peter wasn't dumb enough to speak up, he couldn't necessarily hold a straight face as Mulciber dismissed them. That was it? There were some sort of 'missions' on the docket, but other than that no information being given. Did they even know about the horcruxes or were they just holding the information close to the chest? Whatever these missions were might shed some light on what exactly the situation was on this side of the fence.

Coming from Mulciber, this was almost coherent thought and decent planning. Lucius assumed Nott was pulling the strings. Lucius left promptly when dismissed and returned his transfigured robes and mask to their nondescript form.

This made Lucius's to speak with Rodolphus both more important and more difficult. If he'd become attached to the old triumvirate, he'd likely be suitable for Plan A only, and not Plan B.

Still, he wondered how many of the remaining 'Death Eaters' were thinking that Rod and Rabbit were leading missions and how many were assuming it was Rod and Bella.

No assignments. No missions. Nothing but an invitation for questions that was very obviously a trap. Disappointing, but Clarissa didn't step into it. As soon as they were dismissed she Apparated away to begin contemplating the possibilities in the coming days, vague as they remained at the moment.
