Who: EVERYONE? Basically anyone that can legit find a reason to be at this party!
What: Thanks to Abigail it's become common knowledge that Lydia has the apartment to herself until Saturday, so it's party time at the Apostolos place! Tons of people get invited and it may swing a little out of control when some gods begin to arrive with their vessels!
Where: The Apostolos Apartment above the Antique Shop and Showroom.
When Friday at eight!

Everything had to be perfect, so that meant cleaning not only her stupid room but Phil's and her mother's master bedroom too. She left the stupid temple room for last and just before she got picked up to do shopping with Abigail she said, "fuck it!" and just hoped no one would go in if she told them not to. As much as she didn't give a shit about the offerings to Apollo she did give a shit about her mother's wrath at a wrecked altar. It was important to her, blasphemous to remove anything until Corrine did the proper rituals. God she hoped drunk ass fools wouldn't wreck shop there!

Hours later (and after WAY to many trips into fitting rooms for someone like Lydia) she was hosting her first legit Manhattan party. It wasn't swank (hell, it wasn't a loft or studio, but three bedrooms was pretty big regardless) and she was sure there were more hoppin' places to go that night but at least she would have her girls and Oliver. Those were the only people she cared about.

And then everyone and their moms showed up. Christ, she was just thankful that someone had the bright idea to invest in food as well as alcohol. There were bowls of chips and dip on a table in the middle of the living room and in the fridge was so much beer she didn't even think there was room for any actual food in the damn thing! She had purchased a couple bottles of liquor for shots and kept them in the freezer and someone thought to bring even more so there was no end to the possibilities of how fucked up they could get. On her television through her brother's x-box live she brought up Zune that was playing through some pretty good music, a playlist of things she, Abigail, and Lori all liked.

This was either going to be stupidly epic or an epic fail or maybe? Maybe both.

Around nine-thirty she was on her fourth beer and finished her second shot... and things were starting to feel really good. Normally she was a bit spaztic and maybe even awkward but get a few drinks in her and she was charming. Sort of. Only in the sense that she tended to laugh more with people rather than give them an expression of "please, that's so not funny."

She kept pushing her finger against the bridge of her nose like she was going to push her glasses up her nose but she wasn't wearing them. Lydia wasn't always so used to wearing her contacts and it was starting to annoy her.

"I did it again!" she exclaimed to no one, standing up suddenly as she finished her latest beer. "Boy I should just go put my glasses on, shouldn't I?"

Lydia sighed loudly and smoothed out the blue dress she was wearing before she headed toward the kitchen.

"Anyone need another drink??"

He didn’t get there promptly at eight. Despite how anal his god-soul could be, Samuel knew that parties never really got going on time. Especially in New York when there were a lot of people invited. But, he wasn’t very late, though, as Thoth could only be appeased so much, and as a result just a little after nine he was at the Apostolos apartment. The irony of the last name was not lost on either of them , but fate sometimes enjoyed itself.

There is power here. come the voice in his head as he settled himself in a corner to watch. He had a beer in his hand right away, but it took him nearly the entire half hour to finish that as he watched all the others moving around him, and the couples. Thoth was nothing if not observant, but he saw no reason to really control his vessel yet. Many are like us. Though I do not know who their souls are yet. It was interesting that so many of them were drawn to the Aposolos family, but such was the nature of things it seemed.

When the offer of another drink came, he checked his for a brief moment before he nodded his head. “I’ll take one.” He called out. Though, his eyes weren’t on the potential drinks, and were instead on that dress that she was wearing. She has no god soul, enjoy yourself, Samuel..

She really didn't think Mr. Lawyer would show up. But then, she had secretly hoped he would because she thought it would be amusing to see him among all her friends getting his party on and surprise surprise, he was pretty cool. At least he was better than Wes (ugh, she just didn't get the attraction to Wes! Lori could have him!). She put her hands on her hips.

"Well hells bells, Sam, I'm not like a waitress or somethin' come on," she gestured for him to follow her, a small smug grin spreading across her red lips. That stupid Chanel lipstick was holding up extremely well.

Lydia headed into the kitchen and threw her empty bottle in the trash before she opened the fridge to pull out two beers. She struggled for a moment to twist off the cap of the first one.

The grin got an arched eyebrow in return, though Sam returned it after a moment. His gaze followed the curve of those lips for a very brief moment before he turned his eyes back to her eyes. “Aren’t you the host? Aren’t they supposed to get everyone drinks?” He grinned as he said it, though he would clearly be teasing. He followed her toward the kitchen. Those weren’t her eyes, Samuel. Quiet, you’re supposed to be letting me have fun while you watch the others. Just don’t get overly carried away, her mother is important to the scheme of things. We would hate to make her an enemy without cause, just because her daughter is cute. That just got a roll of his eyes. Damn gods, why did he have to get stuck with one? I heard that.

He dumped his own empty bottle in the trash as well as he watched her. He would let her struggle for a moment before he reached out to take the bottle from her. “May I?” he asked as he grinned at her. “They do this for us guys to have something to feel special about and flex our muscles.” He winked at her before he started to work on the bottle. It would take him a moment before he managed to get the cap off and he gave her that one, before he started to work on his. “Don’t worry, you loosened it up plenty..” He teased, as he grinned at her. “Party doesn’t seem too crazy yet.”

When she had first spied him it had been when he dropped by the store and she was working the register. It was brief, there was maybe a glance or two, and then her mother was whisking him away to the private show room. Yeah she had thought, boy he's kinda cute, but mostly she thought it was weird what he bought and how her mom wouldn't give her any details. Like it was none of her business.

Well HA HA mom! Look who was talking to the weird lawyer guy now! She made a face at his little winking thing and resisted the urge to ask if he had something in his eye (that was rude, she was trying to be nice and charming) by commenting on his mad bottle opening skills.

"Awesome job there, but no points on creativity. I've seen guys use their forearms to do it before, so you got beat in that."

She took a swig, and glanced out over to the living room.

"It's only nine something. My friend Lori is coming. She's a stripper," she nodded. "And more than likely will get drunk enough to strip so stick around for that action."

He shifted against the counter himself as he considered her for a moment before his lips curled into a faint smirk. “Oh, was I supposed to be charming you with my huge muscles and ability to open a bottle? Do the guys who do that grunt when they do it too?” he just laughed as he shook his head. A gulp from the bottle and he continued, “Sorry, if I’m going to try and charm the tights off you, Lydia, I’ll try to do it by being a charming bastard. With words and everything, no grunts.”

When she had seen him before, he had come for his Book. It was something that was too dangerous to be left in the hands of the unwary or unprepared. Even in the right hands it could be too dangerous, but that could be said of anything written by a god. From the Book of the Dead that could resurrect someone, to the modern Bibles and Qurans, which people used to kill and oppress others, even in this day and age.

A tilt of his head and another swig of his beer as he considers her. “Oh, trying to pawn me off on your friends already?” he teased as he let his eyes rest on hers. “Or are you planning on joining her? I’ll definitely stick around if that’s the case. How many more beers will that require?” he asked as he motioned toward the fridge, though he had this grin on her that couldn’t be taken seriously.

"Real cute, Mr. Lawyer," she rolled her eyes and shook her head, dark curls bouncing over her pale shoulders. "But it's gonna take a lot more than getting me drunk to get me to strip. No thank you, you're just going to have to use your imagination."

She was mid swig of her beer when her eyes widened and she lowered it with a laugh. Her hand shot up to cover her mouth and she blushed bright.

"I mean don't do that either! Oh my gosh, do not imagine me naked! You know what maybe we should take that tour now," she scrunched her nose and looked away, so suddenly embarrassed.

He just grinned as he watched her words, and all the reactions that went through her. “So, what would it take to get you to strip, since there’s obviously a level..” Samuel asked as he took another swig from his bottle. To his credit, his eyes wouldn’t drop or move anywhere but from her eyes, no matter how tempted he was. “Or better yet, what does drunk get me?” He teased.

He couldn’t help but laugh at her blush, and her reaction, and that grin of his only widened until it was practically from ear to ear as he considered her. “But, I’ve got such a nice imagination, and it would be something so much fun to imagine.” He tilted his head slightly as he grinned a little more. He knew Thoth was just shaking his head but he was ignoring that. She had a beautiful set of eyes and was cute to boot, he was going to have fun teasing her if nothing else.

But at her offer, he pushed himself off his counter as he reached a hand out to rest on her shoulder. “Deal. Tell the guy you told not to imagine you naked around your house, m’lady. Maybe then I can stop imagining it.”

Ugh, his stupid grin. It was way to cute. He had looked so serious when she saw him those few times before and now he just looked handsome in a way that made her feel ridiculous. Time for a shot!

"M'lady," she scoffed, nearly snorted (oh, that was sexy, wasn't it?) She turned away from him, ignoring the funny feeling his hand on her shoulder gave her and she opened the freezer to pull out a bottle of vodka. Inside the fridge she fished out a red bull that had been opened for shots and she started to make one.

"Want a shot first? Of coooourse you do, here you go!" She offered him his and clinked glasses.

"Opa!"

Someone in the living room drunkenly replied to that (OPA! HEY ARE YOU DOING SHOTS WITHOUT US?) as she knocked the drink back. Lydia was careful with that bright red lipstick on but she licked her lips anyway then set the glass down so she could pick up her beer again.

"Keep up because this mansion is sooo big, you'll get lost," she smirked, and she brushed past him to lead the way. It really wasn't much. They passed people in the living room and she gestured to it.

"Living room. Obviously."

And then into the hall, she paused by the first door on the right which was closed. She pursed her lips at the door.

"Office, also known as the temple. You don't want to see it, it's dumb."

Of course she wouldn’t know that he really was two different people. The times before with her mother that she had seen him hadn’t been Samuel. Instead, that was Thoth in control of his vessel. The Egyptian god rarely took complete control of Samuel, but gaining the Book of Thoth had been a time important enough to do.

He snorted at her scoff, though he didn’t stop her from getting him a shot. Samuel took it in his hand and said “Opa!” in return before he downed the shot, and he let the warmth of it sink through his body as he grinned a little bit. Oh, sometimes a good drink hit the spot and he let the warmth of it flow off of him, before he grinned at her. And, absolutely ignored the others screaming from the living room.

“I’ll try not to get lost.” He said with a chuckle as he followed her along, his gaze shifting around the room as he took in his surroundings. Not just how the apartment itself looked, but those who were there, as he felt the tug from other god-souls. His still thought it was strange that so many would be drawn toward a singular mortal. “Living room.” He repeated with a nod as he considered, before he grinned back at her.

Temple? Just the fact she had a temple in their apartment actually might provide a clue there. And he stepped closer toward her, as Thoth spoke into his mind This temple could prove enlightening.. “Oh, I don’t know, a lot of people keep little religious alters in their apartments. Buddhists are famous for it. Show me the temple.” That smile then widened again as he gave her a quick hipbump. “Unless you’d rather show me the bedrooms first..” he teased. No, he was sure that thought alone would scare her into dragging him into said temple.

Ooh the hip bump did it! Lydia's whole face felt like it was on fire (or maybe that was the liquor, her lips did feel sort of funny too) and she was glad the hallway was dimmer than the living room. It would make hiding her blushing cheeks that much easier. She did glance down the hall to her room but arched a slim eyebrow at him when she turned back to him.

"Maybe after," she didn't promise anything! Lydia turned the knob of the door and pushed the door open. It smelled of incense, something musky and floral all at once, like maybe honeysuckle and gardenia with a bit of patchouli. She slipped into the small room which actually had no office furniture. In the middle of the room was an old wooden table and on the table were a variety of things.

Two pillar candles in white, half burnt and in very old candle holders with Ancient Greek styled art painted on them, the paint cracked. There were four glass bowls one with water, one with stones, one that held ashes of a burnt incense, and one that had a tiny tea light candle in it. There was a Hellenistic statue of Apollo in the center behind the bowls and a single gold ring with a red gem set in it placed before the bowls like an offering.

Lydia was very quiet all of a sudden as she stared at the altar.

"It's my mom's. It's to Apollo right now. That changes. She made an offering to him for me."

Samuel would be hoping that her face feeling like that was more him, than it was the liquor. Though, he wouldn’t object to the drinks giving him a little extra help. Being a crusader at work didn’t always leave him with enough time for more fun activities, and Thoth’s desires didn’t help much there either.

The look she gave him though after she glanced down the hall, he couldn’t tell which one had been hers, but he had a 50/50, right? He just grinned back at her as he inclined his head. “Maybe.” If only Thoth would stop bugging him about this silly temple idea. Sam had no idea what the thought of it was important to the god, but he went with the flow.

The scent was what hit him first and he stopped in his tracks and blinked once. It wasn’t so much shock, but memory and not a memory of Samuel’s. The Greeks had worshiped him as Hermes Trismegistus, or Hermes the Thrice Great, and attributed many inventions to his god soul. He took a moment to take in the scents and the view before him as things seemed to click. Though, whether or not there was truth to it, he didn’t know.

Thoth pushed the body forward, as for that instant he took control of the vessel. Samuel’s entire stance would seem to change, as Thoth carried himself with a bit of power, even in this weakened form. “Just to Apollo?” He asked as he walked over to the table, and then he walked slowly around it. “Or does she worship them all?” A faint smile touched his lips as he glanced back at her. “Did she make an offering for you to him.. or did she offer you to him?” He tilted his head slightly, it had not been unheard of mortals to do such things, though he had assumed even this little bit of a ritual space was long since forgotten.

“Your mother seems to have gone to some length on this.” His hand would hover over the articles, though he wouldn’t touch anything. There had been rules in place before, about disrupting such things. And now suddenly, he wondered if those rules still existed in this new reality.

There was something strange in the way he spoke now, the way he stood and watched her. She wanted to make a stupid joke about how she was going to be sacrificed to the god when her mom got home from tomorrow but the joke died in her throat. She only managed a small sound uttered when she cleared her throat, eyes glued to where his hand hovered.

"Don't.. sorry, don't touch it. It's sacred," even if she didn't believe it, her mother did and it would kill Lydia to her upset about her altar being ruined. God, she probably shouldn't have even been in there.

"She worships the Greek god mostly but I know she has mentioned others from all over. My mother is a pagan... why do you think she collects all of that stuff?"

That stuff being all the other relics she kept hold of down stairs. Lydia lowered her eyes demurely.

"For me to him. I had an audition and he is a patron god of music so.. she prayed to him for that."

Whatever power might have been radiating from Samuel, after a moment he seemed to diminish and he was back to the guy she had brought to the temple once more. His hand snatched back to his side as he gave her a soft smile. “I wouldn’t disturb it.” He said softly as he walked back toward her. “I might not share that belief, but I’m not one to argue what someone else believes.” After all, he had a full on god in his head, who was he to argue which gods were legit to worship and which weren’t.

For his part, Thoth had given control back to Samuel and had gone back to watching quietly from the back of the young man’s mind. “I didn’t know you played. What instrument do you play?” He asked as he looked her over again and he linked his arms behind his back as he continued to smile at her. “How did the audition go?” Oh, he was definitely interested in that, he loved music. Even Thoth enjoyed music, and was sometimes given credit for creating it, though he knew that much wasn’t true.

He chuckled softly at her though, as he shook his head a little bit. “Some of that.. stuff as you call it can be quite valuable and rare. Some people will pay a fortune for some of what is in your family store, Lydia. Or do you think people wanting pieces of history are foolish for it?” He was back to teasing her, however.

"Piano," she answered automatically but then there was that fine, hot, hot, hot blush creeping over her cheeks again and she toed her shoe at the ground like a shy child.

"And voice. I audition for voice. I have steady gigs now at Le Chat Noir, singing," was it hot in here or what? The temple always felt like it practically radiated heat, or maybe it was just the room. Regardless she turned to pull the door open and a cool bit of air from the hall washed over her as she did so.

"Maybe I think it's weird, like unless you're an archeologist or.. historian, what's the point in you having it?"

He just grinned at that as he walked back over towards her. “My sister plays the piano. I remember being tortured for nights on end while she was just learning how to play when we were younger.” Samuel shook his head in amusement at the thought. Oh yeah, he reminded his sister of those days often when they spoke. “Are you good with the piano?” A tilt of his head as he watched her actions.

“You sing too?” He stepped up to her then, as she opened the door. He stopped right beside and just behind her, and he slipped a hand out to rest on her waist. “I think I shall have to come listen to you the next time you sing then.” He said, his voice dropped so that it was just barely louder than the rest of the house and the ambient party sounds. Words just for her perhaps? “When do you sing there?”

“Oh, I can think of lots of reasons for having them.” He said in that soft voice again as he tilted his head back to look up at the ceiling for a moment. He shouldn’t be in there, he thought. It wasn’t the most comfortable room in the house, but then it wasn’t a room that was dedicated to him. “Was there anything else you wanted to show me?” He asked, as he turned just enough so that his voice was practically in her ear.

Lydia suddenly forgot how to breathe. Her lungs just stopped working and her mouth opened stupidly to say something, anything, but she had no words. Holy moly he smelled pretty damn good this close and he had a hand on her hip and it was like freaking fire or something, she could feel it through the thin fabric of her dress.

"Uh.. er.. well, most.. most weekends, Saturdays," she stuttered and then she let out a breathy, nervous laugh before moving backward out into the hall and away from his touch.

"There isn't much else to see, really," she squeaked, gesturing to the three bedrooms at the end of the hall. "My room, mom's room, Phil's room."

The reaction she had under his touch made him smile. Oh, did it make him smile. He might be one of those who championed all sorts of crusades, but he was still a man. And feeling and hearing those reactions to his voice and touch helped with the ego, regardless of what the end results might be.

“So if I came by tomorrow, or perhaps.. next Saturday, you’ll be up there singing?” Sam asked as he watched her. He didn’t come right up to her again, but he did step out of the temple room as he smiled at her. “I think I can get the time off to come watch that..”

He considered her next words for a moment before he arched a brow and gave her a sheepish grin. “Well, definitely don’t want to see your brother’s room. Mom might get upset if you brought me into hers.” His hands linked behind his back again as he tilted his head. “You did say you might show me yours tho..”

Lydia hated that she had said that but at the same time it gave her a little thrill to think she was showing a boy her room. God, Abigail and Lori probably thought she was such a prude but how ridiculous was it at her age to show a boy her room that was next to her mom's?! Her bashful smile widened and she turned on her heels to guide him to her room.

Thank god she cleaned it, at least. It was small, with one full size bed, a brown dresser and a small desk in one corner next to a book shelf filled with all sorts of fiction and musical theory books. She an array of pictures, some framed and some not, on the wall around her desk of her, her friends, her mother and brother, them in Greece. On the wall around her bed was a couple of maps. One of the united states with little pins in where she had been (New York, California, Florida) and one of the world with where she wanted to go marked (several places, mostly in Europe) and on the wall opposite of her bed around her dresser were several old art nouveau posters for jazz muscians in the twenties.

There was a stuffed rabbit on her bed and she practically lunged at it, grabbed it and chucked it under her bed before turning back to him.

"Uhh, and this is my room. The end. Do you need another drink?" she hadn't even been sipping on her beer.

Attractive and shy, man his workmates would have a field day with Lydia. And here he was trying to be good, well at least mostly good. He turned and followed her the couple of steps into her room, and he stepped passed her into it. Of course, that’s when the flying tackle of one poor stuffed rabbit happened, and he just arched an eyebrow at her and gave her an amused smirk. “Did the bunny do something evil? Or is he just not allowed to be socialble?” he asked.

He walked over to the bookshelf, however, as his fingers reached out to run his fingers over the books themselves. Samuel smiled as Thoth turned up his nose at the fiction, though he paused as the deity shared long debates with Hathor over music, and what was or wasn’t considered music back in his day. Of course, she would likely think the smile was over something else as she couldn’t hear the conversation in his mind. A glance at the pictures and that smile widened as he glanced back at her. “What? No Egypt? You’ll go to Greece, but not Cairo?” he teased as he crossed his arms over his chest. “You really should see the Great Pyramids too sometime.”

Then, came the question as he tilted his head slightly. “Lydia Apostolos, if I didn’t know better, I would think you’re trying to get me drunk. You’re not trying to get me drunk so you can take advantage of me, are you?” He teased as he took a step back toward her. He still had half his beer, but he was enjoying the evening. It was a needed respite from legal work even if nothing else happened. “What are you offering me to drink this time?” He asked.

"OH my gosh, you are just way too much," she went to push glasses up the bridge of her nose again but alas, once more she realized they were not there. Lydia was all red in the face and feeling way too embarrassed to be worth the trouble he was going through to flirt. She was the worst flirt ever!

"I am totally not trying to get you drunk, just trying to be a good hostess, c'mon," she moved back to the hall and toward the party.

"Out of control, Sam! For the record Cairo may be a possibility, it's not far from Greece and we go there sometimes, me and my family."

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone get quite so red.” Samuel said with a grin as he watched her. “And, you’re not? Why not? I’m totally worth the trouble of getting drunk. Though, it might all be some nefarious plot of mine to get you to tumble into bed with me.”

He was tempted to stay in the room and see if she came back to get him and just what would happen then, but he decided not to. Not yet, perhaps later in the evening. So, instead he pushed himself to walk out the door and into the hall as well. “So what are we drinking, I’ll drink whatever you put on the table before me.” He said as he walked behind the shy girl.

“And it’s not that far from an American perspective.” He said with a laugh. “But it’s across a Sea and on an entirely different continent from Greece, you know.

"I don't usually have.. dudes like, flirting so shamelessly. Ridiculous," she reitterated and gave him a very pointed look but a smile was evident despite it.

"Still, it's closer than like.. going to China. Here," she set her beer aside once in the kitchen and grabbed a cup to mix him a spiced rum and coke.

"Drink up, Mr. Lawyer, and I'll be back later, gotta go make the rounds! We'll have to tumble in the bed later, though once Lori gets here I think you might change your course," she scrunched her nose sipping his drink to make sure it was good before handing it over. She placed a hand on his chest as she passed and headed toward Oliver.

“Why not? I could sit here and stare into those baby blue eyes of yours all night.” Samuel said with a tilt of his head as he watched her. When she started mixing a drink, he tilted his head back and finished off his beer before he tossed that in her little trash bin. “And yes, I noticed your eyes are blue, is that a shock?” He grinned at her again.

China, I have not heard of any of the Asian gods yet. I wonder why that is. But he grinned at her as he took the drink from her. “Definitely closer than China if you’re in Greece. I’m not sure if it’s much closer from here though, I’d have to look at maps.” Though it was, but not necessarily easier.

“Is that a promise? If I don’t decide I like your stripper friend more than you, you’re going to end up in bed with me?” He tilted his head as he gave her one of those smiles. “And remember, I’m a lawyer, I’ll hold you to these promises.” He took a sip from the drink as well as he just watched her. Oh, just to see if she’d follow through on that might make the evening worth staying for.
