Feigning control was something Jake was always good at. It was something he'd perfected, really, because right now? He had zero control over anything. He felt like a prisoner of war, trapped in some elaborate cage where every old desire, every old wish was thrown into his lap to take away from the fact that something really, really bad was going down. No, Jake did not believe this new world to be true to what it's inhabitants explained to him. He'd been to future worlds, he'd been to other worlds. He knew people that could do this sort of hat trick before a cup of coffee early Monday morning. In his mind, he was determined to figure out why he was here in a world where Rachel was alive. Honestly? It felt like the Crayak had a bigger hand in this than anything else.
Jake hadn't slept much yet, but, could you blame him? His cousin was alive, Cassie was near, and the last thing he could remember was being in the hull of his ship with Marco... What happened to them? To his crew? The apparently omniscient new enemy they had encountered? These were hard questions to just shake off, but he did as he got ready in the morning. Act normal, Jake, this whole place is probably bugged, he thought as he brushed his teeth.. All the while, his eyes were continuously scanning the place for camera locations. Once done, he headed to the bedroom to get dressed, the only set of clothing he had was the military-grade morphing suit he had on already and his one-piece jumpsuit from the ship. Zipping the jumper from his waist up to mid-chest, Jake fastened his boots on tightly. He was pissed that SHIELD wasn't giving him his weapon back, but he never relied on the dracon beam since he was a more powerful weapon on his own.
His tiger morph was always in the back of his mind, ready to be called forth at any given moment as he headed down to Cassie's apartment. Thankfully they weren't too far separated on the floors as Jake opted to take the stairwell instead of being stuck in a stuffy elevator. As he approached Cassie's room number, he hesitated. The last time he'd seen her they hadn't ended things on the best note and she'd hung up her hero cape. He never blamed her for that, hell, if he could have returned to a normal life he would have but that wasn't really an option when the guilt of sending your cousin on a suicide mission still bled freshly in your mouth. Yeah, the taste of that moment never seemed to fade, so he wasn't exactly sure how he would handle seeing her in any sort of form in the next hour. After a few moments of mustering up some nerve and returning to the safety of a state of paranoia, Jake knocked firmly against the door. "Cassie? It's me, Jake."
