No, they definitely weren't fictional. If there was one thing that Cassie knew, it was that. Like Jake, she remembered the pain, both physical and emotional, that they had gone through during those years, the adventures, the terrible things that they did and saw. They might have been nothing more than fiction in this world, but she knew all too well that their world did exist out there somewhere and it wasn't just make believe. It couldn't have been.
She wondered if she should say any of that, but then decided it was best to maybe... not. Rehashing the past might happen sooner or later, but they had only been in one another's presence for a few minutes.
"Ah, yeah..." Cassie started, giving Jakes a slight smile due to his last remark. "I'm not really liking the whole living in a massive city, but the apartment is nice and at first I had just wanted to stick around in case anyone else showed, but then I started to just settle in." One of her hands went to her hair in an idle movement; it was long, much longer than it had been in her youth. "I got a job at an animal shelter not far from here and adopted a dog. It's a lot different than home, but it's a little familiar, at least."
Crossing her arms in front of her, Cassie wondered if she should bring up Rachel. She would be here eventually and she couldn't exactly talk about her in front of her. "Rachel seems to be doing okay, considering... everything."
