Sorry for the radio silence round the holidays, it's always been a bit odd for me and it is also a bit odd here. Also I caught a dreadful lurgy and was not a sight for any eyes, sore or otherwise. Do you think it'd be the cause of a paradox if I If you're on my floor (or are generally doughty and brave), I've got several cases of jammie dodgers that I'm willing to share.

Likewise, I'll let you have a nip of the Kentucky Bourbon if you let me shoot an apple off your head.

Well, in the name of Science (mostly).

The wrist sounds delightful.

It's the mostly honorable thing to do.

Something with dark ink - black or similar - so it won't fade as much.

You little rat
Yes for my frail old

I've got just the thing. You may call me guinea pig from here on out.

Are you asking Steve about my possible surgeries because you're contemplating whether I'm going mad? (i.e. homicide)

There have been no lobotomies, I assure you.

Guinea Peg?

Hardly. you're the only other person whose sanity I'm convinced of.

It was an idea I had before the tattoo. Check for scars or surgical implants. Or if you had broken a bone, we could have compared the x-rays. Same if you'd gotten any dental work done. Could have compared her medical records over the years to look for signs of any injuries you sustained here. But Steve said there hadn't been anything like that. And the tattoo is a lot less invasive.

Of course, it's also possible that fate will intervene and prevent you from getting the tattoo somehow. But I have never been a big believer in that sort of thing.

Clever boy.

I'd broken my wrist from falling off a horse when I was naught but 12 but I don't think that would be of any use to you. And since I've been here, things have been regrettably tame.

Let's tango with fate, darling. I'm in the mood to make it happen now.

So I've been told.

Wouldn't do us any good unless it was after the point of divergence. But I'm sure we'll figure something out.

All right. Let's do it. Google says there are a couple of places around Houston street that do tattoos. Shouldn't be too hard to get there. Know what you want?

Yes, sir. I've got my heart set on having the stars and stripes etched forever on my skin, &c &c. That's code for: I'm not telling until you see it, for I'm making you hold my hand. In the name of Science.

Ah, yes, of course. Well, I guess it if it's for Science, then there's truly no alternative. My fingers are a necessary sacrifice.

Probably. I heard the Russians were working on it.

Cybernetics ... were you colluding with the Reds, my dear? Because I'd lay that on you in a heartbeat. Cybernetics (not collusion).

Or are all these clever euphemisms for 'I'm a genius and I did it myself'?

A bit of both, but no collusion. It was more that we heard the Russians were working on it, and have since been trying to beat them to it.

Good. At least I know (then) that I can squeeze as hard as I'd like.

Well, I'd want to know that we'd gotten a little further with the tech before I were to, say, chop my fingers off and hope for the best. But I'm sure we'll be able to work something out.

Accentuate the positive, Stark. Don't mess with Mister In-Between.
