We had our first test today in Psychology and I got a 30/30 on it! I had to ask if that was good or not. I'm very excited about it. The rest of my classes are going well and my first paper in my creative writing class is due soon. I'm not too concerned about it since I've gotten good feedback on the page I had rewritten from a passage from The Great Gatsby that was one of the exercises assigned.

Did anyone else have an interesting yet embarrassing experience with opening up the door to their fridge and there was someone else? I went to go get a jar of gherkins and instead of the contents of my fridge, there was someone making use of the loo! I very quickly closed the door, I can tell you that.

So fellow refugees, what else has been going on in your lives? Read any good books lately, seen anything interesting out on the street, eaten any food that's noteworthy? I've been out a boat, on a jet-ski, and a long car ride.

It seems that there have been a few mishaps involving doors the lately.

Congratulations on your exam.

There has been lately, I wonder why.

Thank you! I was quite proud considering it's been a while since my years at Hogwarts. How have you been?

I couldn't even begin to imagine. Hopefully it settles soon. The tower could do with some peace.

You should be. Good effort should always be appreciated. I've been well, thank you. I can't say have anything new going on - for better or worse.

I am in complete agreement with your statement regarding the tower needing some peace.

Thank you yet again! I did go out and buy a celebratory cupcake in honour of the occasion. I'm glad to know that you've been doing well and that your life has been peaceful thus far.

Congratulations that is amazing and I'm glad all of your classes are going well.

I've been reading the Alison novels, she seems to be on of the more prominent historians in this world and I thought it might be a good way to getting to know the past. What have you been reading?

Thank you! I was a bit worried since it's been eight years since Hogwarts and an entirely new schooling system, but thus far it's been going well.

I've only read 'The Lady in The Tower' and 'The Six Wives of Henry VIII' by her, only because there's so many historical books out there and I wasn't sure where to start. Plus I was curious to know if in this world the rumors of witchcraft surrounding Anne were here as well. Right now, it's been mainly school books. However, Jean-Luc Picard loaned me some of his books on archaeology and anthropology and they've been quite interesting to read. I've also read 'Beauty' by Robin McKinley, 'Bossypants' by Tina Fey, 'To Kill A Mockingbird' by Harper Lee.

That's understandable, I think learning is much the same wherever you are - even if the content is completely different the way to go about it is always the same.

I did like those two as well as the Jane Grey one though I have forgotten which one that was. I do know what you mean - I was looking at the Phillipa Gregory ones as well as a few others but none of them seemed just as good as hers? Are they here? I admit I haven't heard of her but it is always interesting to see how similar the worlds are. What ones of those would you recommend? I know To Kill a Mockingbird is supposed to be quite good but the blurb didn't sound all that interesting truthfully.

You read, make notes, ask questions, get good study partners, and hope for the best?

Was the Jane Grey one 'Innocent Traitor'? I read the first few chapters of that story at the library but it didn't grab my attention, so I put it back. I've heard that Gregory is a polarizing author - you either love her or you hate her so I haven't read any of hers yet. It's a popular historical theory in my world that Anne Boleyn was actually a Squib, instead of the witch the Muggles accused her of being. The Robin McKinley book is a retelling of the 'Beauty and the Beast' tale. Depending on how you view the tale and the meanings behind it, McKinley writes a good tale. I definitely recommend 'To Kill A Mockingbird'. You can tell why it's won all its awards when you get done reading it. 'Bossypants' would have been better I think if I didn't have to stop and look up half of the popular culture references in it. But it was free, so I really can't complain.

That sounds about right.

That was it, yes. I understand but it did get better as the book went on. That's true and the few reviews I've seen of Gregory's work said they're not completely accurate historical wise which is one reason I've avoided them especially this Tudor Court series? I suppose they would at least give an overview of it all though.

A Squib is the one born to two magical parents but has no magic of their own correct?

that Robin McKinley book actually sounds interesting though I did have to look up what Beauty and the Beast was, I don't think I'll ever learn what all the references are. I might have to avoid Bossypants for that reason at least for the time being. I might have to give To Kill a Mockingbird a chance then and it is good to read the best books of this world, at least in my opinion. Free books are always good.

If the Secretary of Education says it sounds about right, then I'm good with it!

I'll have to give Jane Grey's book another try then when reading for school isn't such a high demand. I can understand an author wanting to put their own twist on things, but when there's such an abundance of historical documents out there why would you not be accurate historically? What's the Tudor Court series?

That is correct. The opposite of a Muggleborn.

I don't think I'll learn what all the references are, either! There's so many and so much. Free books are good!

I believe if you learn then it doesn't matter how you do it.

I understand that. I hope you do enjoy it when you get the chance to try again. I believe it's The Other Boleyn Girl, The Queen's Fool, The Virgin's Lover & The Boleyn Inheritance though there might be more in the series.

I thought so. It is fascinating how all of that works though. Has it ever been linked to genetics?

True but we'll make do as best as we can. Exactly, where did you manage to get your hands on it?

I'm going to write this on a piece of paper and stick it in my bag for inspiration.

Noted!

To be truthful, I don't know? That might be studied in the Department of Mysteries, but the Unspeakables are very quiet about goes on in their department.

It's that or flounder where we are. A person I met in an Internet chat room. 'Bossypants' is one of those electronic books.

That sounds like a good idea.

Understandable, I suppose it is just one of those things. Though I am somewhat surprised that more people haven't looked into it but given the prejudice in your world perhaps not....

Aah, I admit I haven't given those a try they just don't seem the same as an actual book.

It is written down, in a pocket in my bag.

All the elitist, snobby Purebloods who believe that Muggles are mud would probably suffer from a very large shock if that were to be the case. Might be fun watching a few of them.

I do have to admit to a preference over a paper bound book than an electronic one, but I can see the drawer for those who love reading and can't have an undetectable enlargement charm on their bag.

Um....I haven't had anything odd happen to me as of yet. Now watch this, I just jinxed myself. There was the time when people were accidentally turned into teenagers or childhood or elders. That happened shortly before I arrived.
